Chapter 7 - The Girls Have Been Targeted?!

Outside the studio, Zhao Yi sat in his car, face dark.

It wasn't because Durandal had hung up on him—it was because of her last words:

"New boss?"

He stared quietly at miHoYo Studio's entrance, lost in thought.

He'd first heard of miHoYo Studio by accident, but the moment he laid eyes on Durandal, he was struck dumb.

Her flawless beauty, graceful and capable figure—like a perfect heroine straight out of a manga.

With just one glance, she was etched into his mind.

After digging around, he learned the studio was running at a loss and desperate for investment. That's when his scheming began.

Under the pretense of "investment," he got close to Durandal, but upon visiting the studio and seeing Bronya and the others, he froze again.

The entire studio… was full of top-tier beauties.

He felt like he'd stepped into paradise.

On the spot, he set himself a "small" goal—at the very least, win Durandal over.

Why her? Because compared to the others, she seemed a bit more naive—easier to approach.

But when the topic of actual investment came up, he was stumped.

At the time, he didn't have that kind of money.

So he improvised—claiming he needed more time to "evaluate" before investing, giving him an excuse to visit often.

Unfortunately for him, Rita and the others weren't naive—they saw through him instantly.

From then on, he never set foot in the studio again.

"Damn! One step too late…"

Now, Zhao Yi has backing. Thanks to his uncle, he was already a producer at one of Tencent's studios.

Tencent didn't do losing deals, and under his uncle's guidance, his own game would soon launch.

Once it did, his cut as producer would be substantial.

But that payday was still a month or two away.

So he borrowed from friends, scraped together 2 million yuan, and rushed to miHoYo Studio—thinking that was enough to buy the whole place.

He didn't actually plan to acquire them outright, though—if he did, the girls might just leave.

Better to "invest," gain a legitimate reason to come and go, and slowly work his way into their good graces.

Sure, the investment would be a loss—but for these girls, Zhao Yi considered it money well spent.

But reality hit hard—today's call revealed someone else had beaten him to it.

"New boss, huh? Let's see what kind of piece of work you are."

He dialed Durandal again.

This time, the ring lasted longer, but she eventually picked up.

He put on what he thought was his best voice.

"Miss Durandal, could you put your new boss on? I'd like to discuss investment."

Her reply was icy.

"I asked the boss just now—he says we don't need investment. Sorry."

"…Could I meet him, then?"

A pause.

"Sorry, our new game is about to launch, the boss doesn't have time."

"I'm right outside your studio—it won't take long," he pressed, still unwilling to give up.

He wanted to confirm the boss's gender.

"Sorry, the boss is out meeting with advertisers. He's not here… and I really must go now, Mr. Zhao."

As she was about to hang up, Zhao Yi blurted:

"Wait—your new boss, is it a man or a woman…?"

He instantly regretted it, but covered quickly:

"If your boss is free sometime, I'd like to invite him to dinner—I believe strongly in your studio's potential."

"Our new boss is a man. As for dinner… if he's free, I'll let him know. That's all."

Click—the call ended.

"Damn it!"

Zhao Yi slammed the steering wheel.

"A bunch of pretentious women… If he wasn't rich, you'd be fawning all over me."

"New game, huh? I'll see what you're really capable of."

Back inside, after Durandal hung up, Mo Li finally muttered:

"What's wrong with that guy? Why's he so obsessed with my gender…?"

"Pfft…"

Rita and Himeko exchanged a knowing glance, both laughing.

Of course they understood Zhao Yi's true intentions—and why he cared about Mo Li's gender.

But they didn't bother explaining, only giving Mo Li a brief summary of Zhao Yi's past antics.

"Ah, I see…"

Mo Li didn't have much of an opinion.

Chasing girls with thick skin wasn't exactly unusual.

But he hadn't met Zhao Yi, so the man's true character was still unknown.

The only reason he refused the meeting was because the girls clearly didn't want Zhao Yi anywhere near the place.

"Alright, I'm heading off. Next up… get ready, everyone—the gaming industry is about to change!"
