Chapter 6 - Fu Hua the Immortal’s Luck Is Still That Bad

The system's newbie gift copy of Honkai Impact 3rd was already absolutely perfect, so Mo Li had no plans to release any closed beta slots.

But Bronya still wasn't entirely reassured—after all, she didn't know about the system.

So over the past few days, she'd kept persuading Mo Li to open some beta spots, just to check for bugs and test character damage numbers.

With pre-registrations already breaking a million, the launch-day player count was bound to be even higher.

If anything went wrong at launch, it'd be a big problem.

With no choice, Mo Li put aside his current work and led Bronya and the others through the 1.1 version content.

He called it, with a straight face: "We're testing… yeah, let's call it testing."

The studio was now buzzing with activity.

"Boss, aren't these gacha rates a little too low? I've done 90 pulls and still haven't gotten Herrscher of the Void…"

The unfamiliar voice caught Mo Li off guard—until he looked up and realized it was none other than the Shenzhou native… Immortal Fu Hua herself.

"You didn't roll in the wrong banner, did you?" Mo Li got up and walked over to stand behind her.

One glance at her screen, and he was genuinely impressed—her luck was terrible.

Himeko leaned in to peek, and after just a glance, she couldn't hold back a chuckle.

"Fu Hua's luck is still as bad as ever, hahaha…"

Rita also smiled and nodded in agreement.

"I only pulled 60 times—not only did I get Herrscher of the Void, I also got Moonlight Armor. Rates seem fine to me."

In Honkai Impact 3rd, the character banners did have a pity system—100 pulls guaranteed the featured S-rank—but there was no "soft" or "hard" pity separation.

From Mo Li's experience, 60 pulls without the character was already considered unlucky.

Ninety was downright absurd.

"Well, you've already done 90—one more ten-pull and you'll have it," he said with a grin.

Fu Hua could only click the ten-pull button with a bitter expression.

[Herrscher of the Void]

The moment the strongest current S-rank armor appeared, Fu Hua's lips curved into a faint smile—her mood immediately improved.

"So this is the thrill of gacha… no wonder it's borderline predatory."

Just then, Bronya's flat, cool voice drifted over:

"Boss, I think the gacha rate could actually be lowered a bit."

"In the current version, the crystals from the main story are enough for 20 pulls. Add in the launch-day rewards, and with these rates, both of these S-rank armors will be everywhere."

"Oh, right!" Rita suddenly realized.

"That would make them unworthy of the S-rank title…"

Good grief—Fu Hua had just been happy about finally getting Herrscher of the Void after 100 pulls, and now they had to crush her like that?

Mo Li silently rolled his eyes before explaining:

"Actually, Void and Moonlight aren't that strong—they'll be outdated soon. And they're both standard pool characters…"

He suddenly thought of something.

"By the way, how far have you all gotten in the story?"

Rita: "Chapter 4."

Himeko: "Chapter 6."

Bronya: "Only Chapter 2. I was testing Abyss and Memorial Arena—haven't really touched the story yet."

"And? How's the difficulty in Abyss and Arena?"

Bronya thought for a moment before giving a fair assessment.

"Too easy for me. But for normal players, it should be just right."

Mo Li nodded. Bronya's "hardcore gamer" setting was still firmly in place, so her answer didn't surprise him.

"Eh? What the…"

Durandal's sudden exclamation drew everyone's attention.

"What's wrong, Goose? Found a bug?"

The girls all crowded around. Durandal was rarely this surprised.

"Not a bug…" She shook her head and pointed at the screen. "My sister… turned into a villain?"

On the screen, Kiana wore a gorgeous gown, her long snow-white hair flowing freely. Her cold, merciless gaze fell on Mei as if she were nothing but trash.

Before their shocked eyes, Kiana gripped Mei's neck with one hand, the oppressive aura suggesting she might crush her like an insect.

The girls all looked up at Mo Li with the same expression: "You made Kiana a villain?!"

"Ahem…"

Mo Li cleared his throat.

"You've misunderstood. Kiana's not a villain—she's just been possessed by a Herrscher. You'll see when you play the story yourselves. Honestly, I think the plot's the best part of this game."

They exchanged glances, but didn't press the matter—opting instead to look back at the screen.

"These visuals… this is anime quality."

They watched in amazement, completely absorbed in the The Queen Descends animated cutscene.
