Chapter 1 - Freedom has a cost

He didn't know when he was brought here. He questioned many things about his situation, but all he knew was his purpose, and how he knew it well. It was shoved into his face every five minutes along with cruel, hate-filled voices, encouraging him to kill the thing, and its name was Top Gear.

Of course, he wasn't just forced to kill a still enemy. Every time he spawned, he would fight. He was with a different weapon, his abilities, and his combat styles. Whoever was doing this to him wanted him to be trained to fight in any given situation. No matter the circumstances, they wanted a 100% success rate after his nine millionth kill; something changed. A familiar professor can do all too well up here before him. He knew this man well when he was exhausted. All the voices were starting to affect him on a psychological level. The man would appear before him to comfort and help him recover his stamina. Professor: My child, the time has come for you to be free of these shackles. He looked at the professor in confusion, trying to escape freedom. As far as his memories go, he never thought he would know these things. This was the only world he knew. Professor: There's so much I wish to tell you and so much you need to know before I could have let you into the outside world, but unfortunately, time is not infinite. They either knew or suspected what I was up to. I guess erasing a majority of the brainwashing was too obvious, but I can't let you fall into their hands. If I did this, the world would fall, so I would set you free. However, this is my last gift since I won't be around to show you the world. The professor hugged him with those words, and knowledge flowed continuously into his brain. Things like his name, his goal? What had been happening to him, as well as the brainwashing, was removed for the most part. We could think almost clearly, and he knew what came next. High Gear: Father? As more information flowed into High Gear's mind, the professor's body became less and less present. Parts of his body broke off into dust until he was nothing but Ash in the wind. High Gear had you crying at this site. His eyes opened to an abandoned research facility. He was inside his pod, receiving knowledge and data from the security cameras implanted in his brain. He knew Motor City had killed everyone in the facility. No one could let his existence leak, and the Motor City agent in charge of the facility had left him here to brew and brainwash so that he would be friendly and ready to do their bidding when the time came. Without hesitation, High Gear destroyed the pod with his fist without fail. His body quickly adapted to the outside world, but it was all new to him yet. His brain was so familiar with everything. It was very confusing, knowing things he didn't recognize, hearing things he had no experience with, but he didn't have time. He has been expressing his emotions for a long time. He could immediately detect that part of the modifications his brain was made aware of were two chips with AIs on them that were implanted next to his spine, one on the left and one on the right. The left AI was designed to help him with logical thinking. In contrast, the right AI was designed to encourage him to rely on his instincts. Logic: I detect him. High Gear: Who do you detect? Was it his killer? He asked, trying his best to hold back his power. Logic: the one whose likeness they used to torture us for many years, Top Gear. Meanwhile, on the other side of the Gear Top Gear was on the ropes. His opponent was a cyborg gorilla who appears to have the brain of a war veteran implanted inside him. The worst part is that his powers don't work on the thing. Every time he tries to punch him with his fire face, he can't get enough momentum due to the insulated armor on the metal joints. Even his abdomen is reinforced. We've been insulated on there, and his headgear is also insulated. They laugh nothing up to chance. Gorilla commando: What's wrGear Top Gear is not in top condition, which won't do. Don't want you to think this is all monkey business. Top Gear glared at his opponent for mocking him. He tried to catch his breath and figure out a way to build up the speed to boost his firepower. Over on the rooftop nearby, watching from the vantage point. Motor City overseers watch the battle to report the results of the test. ???: What do you think? Piston is a cyborg monkey worth investing in. Piston: cute little trick, but not worth raising the cyborg Labs funding soon, as top Gear figures out his trick, that movie's as good as dead. A man in a poncho wearing goggles and messy hair sits off the edge of a rooftop watching the fight while leaning against the water tank and gleaming from a distance. Also observing the battle is a woman wearing an old school air patrol uniform with a gas mask covering her face, a scar around her neck, and a police cap on her head while fiddling with what looks to be a steam-powered modified air pistol of sorts. The two continued to watch the fight as expected in a sports match. Then, in one instance, the man in the poncho slightly looks over to his right with a bit of confusion. ??? : How odd you're not supposed to be awake yet. Back on the ground, Top Gear is still struggling to figure out how to counter his opponent. He can't build distance and then run out to make them into. If he does, the armor will disperse the power among its brain cellular clothes, and if he tries to brute force it with many punches. The armor is durable enough to break his momentum and be countered. Lenny felt a change in the wind. Looking in the direction of the gust, he knew this was something abnormal. An electrical storm of gold and blue lightweight heading his way as if a stampede of electricity had been spurned into action. Top Gear felt you should Dodge, but at that speed, without much money, he knew you couldn't make it out of the way. So instead of gardening, he covered his face with his arm. High Gear was having a hard time thinking straight, though. The brainwashing was effectively gone for the psychological effect of the voices. He kept hearing in that dark space that was still present, and now that the target that tormented him for so long was somewhere, he was aware of it. Those voices were ever more vocal. Voices: he's here. He's there. What are you waiting for? Kill him. Don't I let him ruin everything? Take him out. The voices were urging him to eliminate Top Gear, and due to his grief over his father's death, he was unable to ignore them. They were encouraging him to do the one thing he wanted to do to avenge his creator. Before you knew it, his body had turned into a few distinct forms of the electricity surging like a storm towards his target's location, riding laws, traveling along electrical cords and power lines. Anything capable of hosting electricity was being overloaded as you traveled through the storm. Arriving at his destination before he knew it, he was standing at an intersection. A heavily modified gorilla, I think, for standing at a distance with a familiar figure, guiding just his face and Bear, who we aren't alive on the other side of the intersection, keeping its distance. High Gear:(What is that thing?) Logic manifests as an androgynous being similar to High Gear but more feminine. She looked over at Top Gear and then at the gorilla. Logic: Assuming you mean the Harrier primate according to the Motor City database, his name is Gorilla Commando, today's test subject. According to the test file, three researchers got drunk. They thought it would be funny to keep out a gorilla from the zoo and a war veteran from a retirement home and implant the veteran's brain into the gorilla, then modify its body using cyborg technology. According to the peer review, everyone thought it was an idiotic idea, and the only reason why it's currently being tested is to determine if the individuals will get demoted or not. Gorilla Commander realizes too late about the electrical storm. Looked over to fGearhigh Gear after standing there at the intersection. His eyes widened, and he took a respectful posture of a military official. Gorilla Command Gear: High gear, sir. I was not informed that you would be joining us so soon. If I knew you were coming, I would have made sure to prep your appointment for you. Sorry, he's in such poor condition. Without listening to the ape's excuse, High Gear reaches Gear. Riser on his left arm and pulls the crank once releasing it. The gears in the display run rampant, creating Sparks of blue and gold. His body starts to get coiled in blue lightning while his right leg is covered in Gold light. The gorilla commander backs away and nervously. Not sure what's going on. In one swift motion, High Gear moves his leg over his head till his foot surpasses the spikes of his hair. In that same notion, a golden blade-like ark forms, cutting off the midsection of the gorilla's body. In the second clean motion, before the gorilla could even realize what was happening or beg for Mercy, he performed an ax kick, which summoned a thunderbolt from the heavens, destroying the gorilla's head. The gorilla Commander was defeated with ease. Top Gear tried to relax but was still on guard with an unknown person with a similar body to his standing before him. From what he heard, the gorilla knew him. Top Gear: thanks for the help! I'd love to know who you are, and wasn't that your Ally? Without saying a word, he cocked the crank two more times. Gear riser: high speed. Hi Gear's body turned back into an electrical storm. Then he appeared before Top Gear and kicked it into the sky. Without adjusting his posture, he placed his leg firmly on the ground while racing his other leg behind him. Butts in had a fusion of blue and gold, coiling it with gold lighting, covering it when Top Gear's body almost touched the ground. Gear High Gear executed a spin kick, launching Top Gear down the road, all the way to the next light. As he soared, parts of his body scraped against the pavement. High Gear: the name is High Gear. I have no allies and many enemies, and I've yet to decide if I'm going to kill you. Without saying another wor,d before anyone could notice that his eyes had tears in them. He transformed into a lightning storm but scattered into the night.
