Chapter 51: A Man Cannot, or At Least He Should Not

On the open ground outside Tsunade's house.

Hoshikawa leaped up and made a perfect high jump.

Asuma Sarutobi watched, a look of confusion on his face.

Was this kind of training really useful?

"Why aren't you training?" Hoshikawa asked him.

"I don't need this kind of training," Asuma Sarutobi said after a moment's hesitation.

"Just train as you normally would," Hoshikawa said casually.

"Huh?" Asuma Sarutobi was stunned. "Aren't you going to teach me?"

He thought Hoshikawa had invited him to train together to teach him how to get stronger.

"I don't even understand Wind Release, so how could I teach you?" Hoshikawa said with a smile, knowing he had misunderstood. "While I can't teach you, I can be your sparring partner."

Asuma Sarutobi's eyes lit up.

That man, his father, Hiruzen Sarutobi, once said that ninja warfare was an information war.

He had sparred with Hoshikawa three times and had been defeated miserably each time.

But on second thought, a big reason for that was that he didn't have any information on Hoshikawa.

A sparring partner meant they could spar anytime, anywhere. After getting to know him, he might be able to defeat him.

As the son of the Hokage, Asuma Sarutobi had a special Jōnin as a teacher, who would also spar with him.

But due to his status, he was cautious and didn't dare to use too much force.

Asuma Sarutobi looked around, plucked a leaf from a tree, and held it in his hand.

Hoshikawa's spirits lifted.

The Wind Release chakra nature transformation training he wanted was finally being offered to him.

But he wasn't in a hurry and turned to continue his physical training.

He didn't know how much time had passed, but Asuma Sarutobi finally cut the leaf in his hand and let out a sigh of relief.

He wiped the sweat from his forehead and sat on the ground.

"What kind of training is that?" Hoshikawa walked up to him, handed him a bottle of water, and asked casually, "I've never seen it before."

"Of course you haven't," Asuma Sarutobi said with a proud look. "This is a Wind Release chakra nature transformation training."

"That's impressive," Hoshikawa said with some emotion. "I remember you're only allowed to learn that after you become a Chunin."

"Exactly! I'm a Wind Release genius!" Asuma Sarutobi felt as good as if he had drunk a bottle of ice water on a hot summer day.

Kids are so easy to fool.

Hoshikawa finished his flattery and asked, "Could you tell me more about it?"

"Sure!" Asuma Sarutobi was so excited he agreed without a second thought.

As Hoshikawa listened, he thought of the episode in the original story where Naruto Uzumaki learned Wind Release chakra nature transformation.

In terms of content, it was pretty much the same, divided into three steps.

The first step was to master the most important nature of Wind Release, which was cutting, starting with cutting a leaf.

The second step was to increase the chakra input, aiming to cut a waterfall.

The third step was to combine it with ninjutsu to unleash the maximum power of Wind Release ninjutsu.

"Thanks," Hoshikawa said, planning to try it out sometime.

It didn't matter if he was found out. He had a powerful teacher, after all.

"It's nothing!" Asuma Sarutobi waved his hand. "If you don't understand anything else in the future, you can always ask me!"

He found that teaching someone was incredibly satisfying, especially when Hoshikawa was listening so attentively.

No wonder that old geezer would always drone on and on with him.

"Are you staying for dinner?" Hoshikawa asked, looking at the sky.

"Maybe another time," Asuma Sarutobi shook his head. "I didn't tell my family ahead of time."

"Alright, see you next time." Hoshikawa stood up and walked toward the bathroom.

He needed to take a shower and then make dinner.

Asuma Sarutobi returned home in a good mood.

"You look happy today? Did you defeat Hoshikawa?" Hiruzen Sarutobi heard the door open and turned to see a smiling Asuma Sarutobi.

"No," Asuma Sarutobi shook his head.

"Then what is it?" Hiruzen Sarutobi asked, curious.

"Hoshikawa and I have become friends and trained together," Asuma Sarutobi said with a smile.

"Huh?" Hiruzen Sarutobi looked surprised. "What happened?"

"This is what happened." Asuma Sarutobi gave a rough summary of the afternoon's events.

Hiruzen Sarutobi stroked his beard.

Was Hoshikawa's resolve that strong?

But a six-year-old child wouldn't have the shrewdness to fake it.

As for Hoshikawa's questions about Wind Release chakra nature transformation, they were no big deal.

If he really wanted to learn it, he could just ask Tsunade for help and get a ton of related knowledge.

In Hiruzen Sarutobi's opinion, the most important thing was Asuma Sarutobi's growth.

My son has the potential to be a Hokage.

"That's good," Hiruzen Sarutobi said with a smile. "Hoshikawa is indeed someone worth befriending."

"Yeah," Asuma Sarutobi nodded. "I'm going to take a shower."

Not long after, the sound of the door opening rang out again.

"Jiraiya?" Hiruzen Sarutobi asked, looking at Jiraiya who had just walked in. "When did you get back?"

"Just now," Jiraiya explained. "I used the Reverse Summoning Jutsu."

"That's the only convenient thing about the Three Great Sage Regions," Hiruzen Sarutobi said. "What do you have there?"

"The new book by Thunderfire!" Jiraiya immediately became excited.

"I..." Hiruzen Sarutobi suddenly noticed Biwako Sarutobi walking out of the kitchen.

"Did you read the last book? Wasn't it great? This one is no less creative in its concepts. You definitely can't miss it!" Jiraiya said excitedly.

"I didn't read it. Why would I read a book like that? I read..." Hiruzen Sarutobi coughed.

"Stop faking it, old man," Jiraiya said with a look of disdain, interrupting him. "I know you too well!"

"What book?" Biwako Sarutobi asked out of the blue.

Jiraiya's expression froze, and he quickly hid A Guide to Ninja Waifu Waifus.

He laughed awkwardly and said, "We were just talking about the Will of Fire."

"I'm glad you're here to visit, but I don't like the tone of your voice just now. You're clearly lying," Biwako Sarutobi said, her face stern.

"I have something to do. I'll be going now!" Jiraiya got up and ran without hesitation.

After running so far that he could no longer see Hiruzen Sarutobi's house, he stopped.

"Old man, you're on your own," Jiraiya said with a hint of schadenfreude.

He took a breath, looked around, climbed a tree, sat on a branch, and eagerly took out the new book by Thunderfire.

"Thunderfire is a god!" Jiraiya said with a sigh after reading it. "I don't know how he comes up with this stuff. Elves, demons, angels, snake women..."

He suddenly stopped.

Snake women... he had actually heard of them.

In Ryūchi Cave, there were three Great Snakes, whose bodies were snakes, but they could transform into humans.

Jiraiya's mind began to wander.

Did Mount Myōboku and Shikkotsu Forest have the ability to transform into humans?

Did Tailed Beasts?

He remembered that the Nine-Tails was a fox.

"Stop! Stop!" Jiraiya quickly shook his head.

A man cannot, or at least he should not.
