Chapter 77 - Loop???

Rose crossed her arms staring at Johnson

"you don't fully believe what you say Johnson a part of you wants to catch that bastard and give him a good beating....a part wanna forgive.... I will tell you something" she said, standing up and dusting herself. "Not everybody is good sometimes you gotta be cautious not get hurt and betrayed..tch" Rose said, holding her head. The effects of her mental strain were taking effect.

Johnson straightened up. The last traces of his regeneration smoothed over his skin like nothing had ever happened. "I'm going to first talk to the djinn in question," he said, already shifting his weight toward the door.

Angela shifted closer to Mary. Worry tightened her voice. "Well, shouldn't we come with you…?"

Johnson shook his head. "No need to do that. Focus on getting yourselves safe first." He began to turn, ready to leave.

"Wait." Rose's hand closed around his wrist, stopping him. Her voice was quieter now, almost hesitant. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you with what I said… about the people in the area. I told everyone they should leave."

"How?" Johnson muttered, frowning. "Unless you're as fast as I am which I don't think you are there's no way you could move people instantly."

Rose shrugged, tugging on a dark leather jacket and pulling on her boots. "I didn't move an inch from here."

"So what? You just magically make them disappear?" Confusion edged his voice.

Angela peeked out from the hallway, lacing her shoes. "Angela, I dunno are you going outside, or are you staying? I mean, it's not really safe here in this house. I don't think it will be." She glanced at Angela, then headed toward the door.

"Um, give me some time!" Angela called back from her room.

"What the hell is going on…?" Johnson stared after Rose, then stepped in front of her, blocking her path. "Hey, Rose, I'm talking to you."

"I don't feel like talking right now, Johnny," she muttered, turning her face away.

"What is wrong with you?" He caught her arms gently but firmly, turning her to face him.

Meanwhile, Mary and Angela are seen in Mary's room as they are changing. Mary is seen wearing her red lip gloss when at that moment Angela stepped into the room with a small, self-conscious grin, stopping just short of the doorway so Mary could get a good look.

She wore a form-fitting deep green bodysuit that hugged her frame like it had been tailored for speed and movement. The material had a smooth, tactical sheen, broken only by the lighter brown accents that traced down her forearms and tapered neatly at the wrists. Around her chest sat a clover leaf emblem, subtle but unmistakable as her mark.

Her gloves were slim and dark brown, more like something a racer or covert operative would wear than heavy work gear. The trousers ran straight down to her ankles, where they disappeared into low-profile brown boots that looked built for quiet movement across rooftops rather than stomping through a garden. At her side hung a slender sheath, practical and understated.

Angela shifted her weight, letting the suit catch the light. "So… what do you think?" she asked, cheeks tinged pink. "Stanley said it's meant for mobility first, but he still snuck in the clover leaf emblem. Says it's bad luck to go into the field without it."

Mary's eyes lit up as she took it all in — the clean lines, the way the green deepened in the shadows, the balance between practicality and something almost heroic. For a moment she just smiled, then gave a small laugh. "you look like an upgraded gardener"

"pfft" Angela held her mouth as they both burst out laughing as Mary fell rolling on the bed.

"Hahaha haha" they laughed as Angela held her tummy.

"Not gonna lie Lillian said the same thing when she saw me it was so embarrassing hahaha" Angela said as Mary continued laughing.

"I think your super hero name should be.." she held her chin thinking.

"Clover?" Angela asked in anticipation.

"Nah too lame oh yh i got a super funny name I call it" her eyes wide in excitement.

"The super plant!!!" she said as both burst out laughing.

"hahaha haha we should get going to the shelter and helping the people in it we got no time for this you know hahaha" Angela said, still trying to hold her laughter.

"Yeah you got a point" Mary said, standing up from her bed where she sat putting on her jacket.

"what do you think of hero name tho so far only a handful has been given that all over the world with Johnson too" Angela asked Mary as she tied her hair to a ponytail with a worried expression.

"well not that it's official but hero names are given by the general public due to popularity and by the nature of their abilities for example Johnson's primary ability is um..." she tried tapping her head trying to recall.

"He is really really fast so fast that even when measured against or compared to the speed of light he's immeasurable?

i don't really know but he's quick as light basically or maybe even faster" Angela said, putting on her hat, shrugging.

"Well yh based on that assumption not that it's truly correct he is now called Quicker than light or Quick lightning" Mary said.

"honestly I think your suit is perfect for you. Said Stanley designed it yh ? same Stanley from the tech department in D Great labs"

"Yes that Stanley ma" Angela replies, now confused, looking at her. "Why aren't you in a super suit"

"oh I don't really need any suit I'm fine on my own" Mary said, putting on her dark shade glasses, tying up her hair to a bun, putting a pin to hold it in place, wearing a leather dark blue jacket and red tight fitted jeans as she cracks her fingers. "well time to head out and see what those kids are up to" she says as they proceed to the living room.

Meanwhile, Johnson still had Rose's face gently held between his hands, his gaze searching hers. "What exactly is wrong with you?" he asked, low and direct.

Rose avoided his eyes, her jaw tightening slightly. She did not pull away from him, but she refused to answer. The silence between them felt heavier than any argument they had ever shared.

Johnson frowned.

"Well, if you do not want to tell me, then I have no other choice. Jake: what is wrong with my sister?" he asked silently within his mind.

The Time Bond on his chest pulsed softly.

"Scanning," Jake hummed as Johnson's eyes glowed faintly.

For a brief moment, streams of information flooded across Johnson's vision.

"Rose's physical condition appears stable," Jake said casually. "Vital organs are functioning normally. No immediate external injuries detected."

Johnson narrowed his eyes.

"Then why is she acting like this?"

"There are slight neurological fluctuations present within her brain activity," Jake continued. "However, they were previously within manageable range."

"Manageable range?" Johnson repeated.

Before Jake could continue, Rose suddenly leaned forward.

"Urgh...!"

Blood spilled from her mouth onto the floor.

"Rose!" Johnson exclaimed in panic as he immediately moved beside her, rubbing her back carefully. "What the hell happened to you?"

He vanished for an instant and returned almost immediately with a glass of saline water.

"Here. Drink this slowly," he said anxiously. "Are you fine?"

Rose took the glass with trembling fingers.

Johnson's expression darkened as he looked upward slightly.

"Jake, I thought you said she was okay."

"Do not get angry at me," Jake replied. "Her physical body was stable during the initial scan. However, her neurological activity has drastically increased within the last few seconds."

"What does that even mean?" Johnson snapped. "Speak English."

Jake sighed mechanically.

"It means her cerebral cortex is processing massive amounts of information simultaneously. Her brain is operating beyond normal cognitive limitations."

Johnson stared at Rose quietly as she held her forehead.

"She is likely absorbing and processing thoughts, emotions, sensory input, and psychic signals faster than her mind can naturally stabilize them," Jake explained. "If this continues, it may lead to neural overload, memory corruption, emotional instability, or permanent psychological damage."
