It was one thing whether Lana was crazed or not, but the receptionist's behavior was way too unprofessional.
"Sir, I am not lying. She is a scammer. She had scammed the hotel out of $10,000. " The receptionist looked at the man with a polite smile.
The man checked the time, and, realizing he was getting late, he looked at the receptionist with a steady gaze. "Still, you can't disrespect a customer like that."
With that, he left.
Lana felt her voice returning and shouted again, "Don't take the shortcut."
Mr. Crow shook his head in disgust. "Why are you still concerned about a man's fate when he holds so little regard for your advice?"
"A human life will be gone..." Her voice sounded a little lost. The vision still lingered in her mind, filling her heart with chaos and fear.
For a moment, she even wished to follow the man and warn him. However, the receptionist suddenly blocked her view.
"Miss, don't think about latching on to a wealthy man just because you can't afford to live here."
The receptionist's loud voice attracted the attention of a passerby. Their eyes flashing with schadenfreude, while some looked at Lana as if she were a dirty whore.
In their world, news of women selling themselves just to survive wasn't anything new. Yet the opinion about such women wasn't high either.
Lana showcased a smile; the sarcasm seemed to have landed in the air, her voice, equally loud as the receptionist's, echoed.
"What? Are you trying to sully my reputation because I got to know about your affair with the manager?"
'My powers are indeed amazing!'
Excitement surged in her eyes as the dark pink mist lingering on the receptionist's head showed a future glimpse of how she would leave, have a rendezvous with her manager, and demand a raise.
The receptionist's face turned pale; her eyes almost popped out. "You... you are lying."
The guilt flickering in the receptionist's eyes was so prominent that even the passersby noticed it and shook their heads in disgust.
"Sister! Don't worry! I will not tell anyone! And I didn't even take it to heart when you colluded with the manager to frame me when you realized that I knew about your affairs. However, I am indeed hurt. The $10,000 you gave was compensation for wrongly framing me. How come suddenly... it turned into a scam?"
Innocence coupled with a confused expression made Lana appear like a foolish kid. Yet the gossip spoken by her made the onlookers click their tongues in disgust.
"Anyway, I will leave, and I promise not to speak about your secret to a single person," Lana said and dragged her suitcase, leaving the receptionist fuming.
"Bitch! Let's see how you will survive!" The receptionist's furious voice echoed in Lana's ears, and yet she didn't turn around.
Poor her. The world could hate her, but she, Lana, would still survive.
"What are you planning to do now?" Mr. Crow squeezed Lana's shoulder slightly for a better grip.
"The free lodging in every city~ Hm~ Hm~" Lana hummed a tune, her mind still occupied by the vision, yet the pressuring issue distracted her attention.
The scorching heat waves caused Lana to have goosebumps.
Ah... What a bumper.
"What free lodging?" Mr. Crow asked with curiosity, and seeing Lana squint her eyes due to the sun, he opened his left wing and tried to cover her.
Feeling a sudden coverage of a furry feather above her head, Lana halted in her step.
However, the next second, she continued to walk, while her plans were laid bare to Mr. Crow.
"Temple. Or cemetery. There are some public temples where mystic cultivators can reside. The Almond Family can control all the hotels and my fake friends, but public places like temples are still out of their reach."
"Tsk... tsk, why do you of all people have to make such a strong enemy?" Mr. Crow shook his head dramatically. But soon, he donned the serious expression he carried.
"What will you do next?"
"Cultivate. I need to break through and reach Black Rank. Once I am capable of dealing with a 1-year-old ghost, I can rent a haunted house. The Almond family thinks I have no power, so they will let me rent the haunted houses. Inside the safe zones, no ghost above 10 years has ever been spotted. Even the 10-year-old ghost doesn't attack the mystic cultivator, fearing incurring the ire of other mystic cultivators."
A ghost with 10 years of cultivation is smart enough to scheme and understand the consequences of their actions.
Mr. Crow nodded. Suddenly, he thought about Lana's weird dance and commented, "You are smart sometimes. But other times... sigh... even a kid might surpass your intelligence."
Lana smiled sweetly. "And you, Mr. Crow, you look ugly and reek of a pungent smell when you open your mouth."
