Kaito walks with the cat still in his hands. "I wonder what I should call you." Kaito mentions.
He lifts the cat up and looks him in the eyes. The cat looks back at Kaito with it's one good eye. They stare at each other for a moment, before the cat licks Kaito's nose, making him laugh.
"I think lucky is a good name." He says as he pats him, Lucky meows in agreement.
Kaito looks up at the sky and notices the time of day. "Shoot, i'll run out of daylight soon." He says as he hurries back to the guild.
"You should wait in here." Kaito says as he tucks lucky away inside of his bag.
Kaito arrives back at the adventurer guild and he goes up the counter. "I finished my quest, can I have my reward?" Kaito asks.
The woman at the counter looks at him as she pulls up a slip of paper. "Yeah, no, the lady called us telling her you stole the cat??" She questions as she looks dumbfounded.
Kaito smiles and shows Lucky. "She didn't deserve him, so I took him with me." Kaito says happily.
The woman sighs and shakes her head. "Kid, you wanna go on quests but you failed, literally the easiest one." She explains calmly.
Kaito scratches his head. "I feel like I passed." Kaito says.
The woman folds her stack of papers. "Good luck, with whatever you choose to do, can't do business with an adventurer if there's no chance at profit." She says.
She walks away, taking her stack of papers with her. Kaito just heads back to reading the board until a curious conversation crosses his ears.
"What do you mean, not permitted to go?!" A tall silver haired man yelled. "Do you have any idea who you're talking too?!"
Kaito turns his head, listening to the conversation. "We're the blade guild, our boss already reserved that dungeon!" Looking closer it was the woman from earlier. And what's that he heard? A dungeon?
A different receptionist was dealing with them. "I understand, this isn't what you wanted, but to head inside of the dungeon you need at least a party of four, and there are only three of you." She calmly explains.
The blonde woman snarls, as another a much smaller man, with dark red hair places a hand upon her shoulder to calm her. "Listen Terra it's fine i'm sure we can find another adventurer." He says.
With that Kaito walks on over. "I wanna go in the dungeon." Kaito happily says.
The three of them turn at him. They look for his adventure card which he strung to the back of his bag.
"Copper." The tall man says.
The woman, Terra, looked at him with recognition. "Oh, lil' buddy!" She says as she messes with his hair.
The man rolls his eyes at Kaito, "I am unsure if it's a great idea to bring you with us." He says.
Terra pulls him down to her level, so she can whisper into his ear. "Listen Max, we just need a fifth person, it's a C-tier dungeon, just stick him in the back." She whispers.
Max thinks, but when he looks at Kaito, who's wearing a big dumb smile on his face. Which makes Max roll his eyes. "Alright you're in."
Kaito jumps into the air happily.
"You sure you wanna go in there little buddy? Dungeons can be dangerous." She playfully warns.
Kaito shakes his head. "I'll be alright." He responds confidently.
The woman then holds her hand out. "I never formally introduced myself. Names Terra." She says and Kaito shakes her hand. "I'm Kaito." He responds.
Terra then pulls the two guys to her. "The tall moody one here is Max, and this cute guy is Ray." She introduces them and they nod to Kaito.
Max clears his throat. "Also accompanying us is Emma, she's a collector dwarf." He says as he steps aside and a small woman comes forward. "It's nice to meet you sir." She politely says.
Max is the leader of the dungeon raid as a C rank mage he is the most capable, He's tall with a lean build, short silver hair, clean shaven face. carrying a sword at his side, simple armor covering his forearms, and knees.
Following closely behind him is Terra a C rank. She's not as strong but her determined attitude allows her to keep up. She on the other hand, is wearing little armor... well little everything, her outfit leaves little to the imagination. Though she wasn't carrying any weapons on hand Kaito had a feeling there was more to her.
Ray who is a C rank also is not a combatant focusing mostly on support. He carried a staff, along with robes that draped down nearly his entire body, Kaito wondered if he had any secret weapons under there. And Emma an F rank she's just a collector. A dwarf who had a bag on her back twice the size of her.
Terra pats Kaito on his back. "Don't worry about getting hurt little buddy, i'll keep you safe." She says, reassuring him.
Kaito smiles back. "Don't worry about me, i'm ready for anything." He confidently states. Max pats Kaito's shoulder. "This will be a good opportunity for you to gain some experience as a mage." He tells Kaito.
"I will be able to defend you so try not to worry." Ray innocently tells him. Kaito laughs. "You guys don't have to worry about protecting me." He tells them, his confidence beaming.
Even though they were all technically stronger then Kaito, he believed himself capable of handling anything that came his way. After all he had trained for things likes this, so he wasn't afraid.
"Alright with introductions over, let's head out, if we complete this dungeon quick enough we can be out before nightfall." Max tells the crew and the follow him.
Kaito happily follows behind them since he's never actually seen a dungeon. He was extremely excited.
As they're walking max pulls out a stack of paper. "Kaito, we should brief you on our strengths, so we can properly strategize." Max tells Kaito.
"I myself possess, creation, wind, and metal magic." Max says demonstrating the three.
"Terra has portal storage and blade manipulation, and has a sacred arte called beastial resonance." He says and Kaito is confused.
"What's a sacred arte?" Kaito asks.
Artes are another form of power that can enhance one's potential, and can call forth special abilities. The artes are divided into categories, but for simplicity sake, they are all called sacred artes.
The categories are as followed, battle artes, imperial artes, and support artes. They are classed from F to S respectively.
Terra waves away the long explanation. "Basically they're used to push yourself past what you can already do, and make you even stronger." She explains and Kaito seems interested.
"How do you get them?" Kaito asks. Terra smacks his arm. "Best way to snatch them is from dungeons, or you could buy them from martial hall's but those things are expensive." Terra explains.
Max clears his throat. As a way to bring them back to topic. "Ray here has barrier magic, and defensive enhancement, he's our means for defense if it's ever necessary." Max explains and Ray awkwardly bows. "And of course Emma, who is our collection, she picks up anything that can be used as profit." He explains.
Terra points to Kaito while chewing on jerky. "Now you're turn, what can you do?" She asks, holding the half eaten jerky in his face.
"I use fir-" he quickly cuts himself off, because for whatever reason he actually isn't a fire mage anymore. "I use dirt magic!" Kaito says.
Terra nods slowly. "That's kinda lame." She coldly says, almost as if she was expecting more from the young mage.
Max nods. "Agreed, but he shouldn't have to worry anyways, for now let's just get to the dungeon." Max says, slightly regretting his decision to bring Kaito along.
They begin walking today and Kaito listens to the conversation between Terra and Max. "Todays the day that I finally become stronger then you!" Terra shouts at him.
Max sighs. "That's not possible, stay focused." Max says shoving her out of his face. Ray laughs and shakes his head. "You've been at this for years now Terra." He says to her.
Terra scrunches her hands. "Because I have to get stronger then him. Boss gives him all the important roles!" Terra says as she grabs her hair. "I swear Max one day i'm gonna kick your ass!" Terra shouts.
Max shakes his head. "You're arguing with yourself Terra." He says seemingly defusing her. "Afterall aren't you too old to believe in fairytales." He smirks mockingly making her angrier.
Kaito smiles watching them. "They must've known each other for a long time, reminds me of how I'd argue to Kaid, really do have to beat him up when I see him." Kaito thinks to himself.
