Chapter 9 - Execution

Kaelor and Jean are laying down on a bed in the Imperial palace infirmary private room. Lord Vitern, King Atahsaia and Lord Varrow standing in front of them.

This imperial infirmary room consists of white walls and a bed covered with a shield and a massive blue mana stone is hanging on above the bed. Imperial father Kael both hands are on the shield pouring green aura inside the shield.

Both Kaelor and Jean's wounds start healing, after some time all wounds on their body healed. Kael disables the shield then Kael comes closer to Jean. Jean's body is still old, then Kael touches Jean's chest then a red red aura starts covering jeans whole body. That red aura starts healing Jean's old body now Jean is young again. After that Kael takes permission from the King, then he leaves with wrinkles and white hairs.

Kaelor and Jean wake up. Then—

"How are you both feeling?" Atahsaia asked them with a faint smile.

"I think it's not the time to ask this, my king. Ask Jean why he arrested my son." Lord Varrow became more angry, this can be seen by his voice.

"Don't tell the king what he has to do. Lord Varrow." Lord Vitern put a hand on his waist sword.

"You don't have any reason to talk. You can't even handle a single guard." Lord Varrow smirk.

"He was the Blood Art Practitioner." Lord Vitern binds his both hands together in front. "And it should not be me who has to answer but it should be your son Tarin who has a blood art practitioner as his personal guard without the king's knowledge." Lord Vitern mocks Varrow with his faint smile.

"Silent." Atahsaia moves his left hand in the air. "Jean, Kaelor, I think you are now ready to proceed with this case. Right."

Jean and Kaelor get out of the bed and sit on one knee and in a sync—

"Yes my king."

King Atahsaia is sitting on the throne and Kaelor, Jean, Vitern, Varrow are standing there behind Taron. Taron is sitting on knees, he is bound with special chains crafted to hold even Trait Bearers. And there is also someone sitting beside Taron. It's Arin, he is not bound by chains just sitting on his knees.

After that Jean moves forward and starts showing proof to the king that Taron is the murderer.

He showed a dead body of a minister Sam killed by Taron in his manor and many illegal life-mana stones. And then a member of the Taron guards was brought to the throne room by an Imperial soldier. He confessed everything and said.

"There are many more than a hundred bodies of civilians still preserved in the basement for the future."

After that the king gave orders to Jean to investigate that place.

"As you wish my lord." Jean said while leaning forward with a right hand on his chest.

Jean steps back into line. And the throne room is silent, every noble and soldier are holding their breath.

Then Lord Varrow breaks the silence. He takes a step forward, his voice rising.

"My lord, this is madness. You cannot condemn my son based on the words of a servant and forged evidence! Jean, you always envied my house. You turned this entire incident into a plot against me!"

But Jean does not move. His eyes remain calm, and his hand is still pressed against his chest. "My lord, I have only shown what the truth itself revealed. Taron's crimes are undeniable."

Varrow's voice shakes with fury. "Lies! My son is no saint, but he is no murderer of hundreds. You would throw away the honor of the north city based on your schemes!"

Atahsaia slowly leans forward on his throne. His golden crown glimmers in the torchlight, his red cloak flowing down the steps. And his voice, though calm and carries the weight of thunder.

"Enough, Lord Varrow. Your son was found with forbidden stones with corpses buried beneath his manor, and a Blood Arts Practitioner at his side. These are not accusations but facts."

Varrow clenches his fists, veins swelling on his temples. "If you execute my son, you execute the future of the North! Do you wish to tear this kingdom apart?"

Atahsaia rises from his throne. The hall trembles under the pressure of his aura. His eyes glow faintly gold, and even the nobles step back.

"Do not speak to me of tearing apart what your corruption has already rotted. Taron Vesh will face judgment, not as your son, but as a criminal of the Veylor kingdom."

Varrow opens his mouth, but Atahsaia raises his hand and the air of the throne room grows cold. "I will not allow the stain of treason and slaughter to spread further."

The king's gaze sweeps across the hall, and his voice booms like a verdict carved into stone. "Hear my command. Taron Vesh, guilty of blood crimes and heresy, will be executed publicly at dawn. His death will serve as a warning to every traitor who dares to stain this kingdom with forbidden arts."

And gasps echo through the throne room. Atahsaia continues, his words striking like a blade. "From this day forward, the North Noble City is placed under emergency law. Lord Varrow, your authority is stripped. From this moment, the North shall be ruled directly by the crown."

Varrow's face drains of color, rage and despair battling in his eyes. He drops to his knees, fists slamming against the floor, but his words choke in his throat.

The king sits once more, his expression carved in stone. "The judgment is final."

After that Lord Varrow took his leave from the throne room. And Atahsaia ordered his soldiers to take Taron in prison till his execution date. Then—

Atahsaia leaned side and put chin on his hand and elbow on the throne handle. "So, who are you? And how you lived unnoticed till now."

Arin put one hand on his chest and then smirked. "My king, I am just a lowly cockroach living in the slums of your kingdom. And I am not worthy enough for your time."

"Watch your tone, boy." Jean said.

"It's okay Jean, you should respect him." Atahsaia leaned forward then smiled. "You are alive because of him. Now tell me boy your name.

"Ohhh my king, this cockroach is known by the name Arin." Arin dramatically leaned his eyes and body downward then upward.

"Hmm, it's a good name. Arin, what about your parents? Where are they?" Atahsaia asked.

Arin became serious. "My father was dead before I was born and my mother was also dead a few days ago."

"I am sorry Arin, can you tell us what her name is?" Atahsaia asked.

"Selene graven." Arin said.

The whole room went silent, everyone's eyes now widened and the king stood up.

"Graven."

After hearing 'Graven', Atahsaia wasn't able to hold himself on the throne. He stood up and ran towards Arin.
