Chapter 10 - THE NIGHTS SHE TOOK HER NAME

It wasn't the kiss that undid her, it was the way she stayed after. She hadn't slept in two nights; not truly. Every time her eyes closed, she saw Amy, she saw the coldness in her eyes after the kiss, heard the silence she left behind like it had weight. She tossed, turned, sat up, lay down but nothing helped. You look too much like her, that sentence haunted her. Who was her? What did Amy mean? Was she just a substitute for someone else? Ellie sat up in bed, chest tight, enough was enough. She dressed quickly, dark riding pants, high boots, a cloak. She pulled her hair back into a tight bun and crept out of the house like a thief, no one saw her, no one ever did when she didn't want them to. She rode hard into the night, through the trees, along the forgotten roads. Out toward the outskirts of the city where the smoke of New York gave way to fog and forest. That's where Amy lived, a towering emerald mansion, half castle, half ruin, draped in ivy and thorns. The iron gate stood open like it had been expecting her. She dismounted, walked to the door, no guards in sight, just moonlight on marble. She looked up and like fate itself was guiding her, she picked a window, picked up a stone and threw it. Amy was awake, of course she was.

She never slept before 3 a.m. not since the war ended, not since her hands got used to pulling triggers instead of writing letters.

The stone hit the window with a sharp clink, another and another. She frowned, rose from her armchair in a black silk robe and opened the window. There; beneath her, stood the girl Ellie, soaked in moonlight, chest heaving, eyes wild. What the hell are you doing here? Amy called, we need to talk! It's nearly two in the morning! Then pour a drink and let's make it count!

Amy cursed under her breath, her walls were too high to climb, but her doors weren't locked. she met her at the front like a shadow. You're insane, she murmured. You kissed me and disappeared, Ellie snapped then ignored me for days. I've earned insanity, Amy said nothing. Ellie shoved the door open harder than necessary and walked past her, the scent of gardenias wrapped the hall. The floor echoed beneath her boots, Amy followed.

Inside, the tension wrapped tighter than the silence. Amy poured two fingers of whiskey into crystal, handed Ellie one, Ellie didn't sip she swallowed it whole. Fire down her throat, heat in her chest. Amy stared at her like she was both salvation and a mistake she was ready to make again. It's not that I don't want you. Fuck, Ellie... it's that I do and I'm not supposed to. You're younger, softer, dangerous in ways you don't even understand yet. What would people say? The mafia boss falling for—

I don't care what they say, Ellie cut in, stepping forward. I care that you kissed me and ran. You said I reminded you of her, but she's in your past and I'm right here now.Amy sat down in the armchair again, exhaling

slowly, You don't know what you're doing. Yes, I do, Ellie reached behind her, took off her cloak and riding pants. Let it fall, her boots hit the ground with a thud. She stood there in nothing but a black corset and sheer panties. Her skin glowing like satin under candlelight. She climbed onto Amy's lap, straddled her thighs, Amy didn't move, just stared at her cleavage rising and falling in the corset, at the defiance and ache in her eyes.

Ellie... Shut up. She kissed her hard. No hesitation, no fear just mouths crashing, breathless and hungry. Ellie tasted like desperation and whiskey and raw want.

Amy dropped the glass to the floor, not caring if it shattered.

She pulled the corset apart with practiced hands. Buttons popped, breasts spilled into her palms, full, warm, perfect. She groaned into Ellie's mouth, kissed down her throat, then lower, kissing, sucking, biting. Her lips locked around a nipple, and she moaned into it like she needed it to survive. Ellie gasped, arching, grinding into her lap.

You drive me fucking insane, Amy murmured between sucks. You're not supposed to feel this good, still seated, Amy stood lifting Ellie with ease. Ellie's legs wrapped around her waist. They didn't stop kissing as Amy carried her upstairs, pinning her against the hallway wall halfway, thrusting her hips up into her, both of them panting.

Bedroom

Amy laid Ellie on the bed like something sacred, she knelt down at the edge of the mattress, hooked her fingers into Ellie's panties, pulled them off with her teeth.

Ellie trembled as Amy kissed her ankle then her inner thigh. Then higher, tongue dragging slow, teasing circles, not rushing. Just savoring then Amy flattened her tongue and devoured her. Long licks, deep groans, tongue slipping inside, fingers digging into thighs… Ellie's hands fisted the sheets, her legs shaking, Amy; oh my god. Amy, please. Amy didn't stop, she moaned into her like she was feeding off her soul and when Ellie came trembling, thighs clenching around her head, breath shattering, Amy didn't move away. She just licked slower, deeper, dragging her through it. Ellie thought it was over, It wasn't.

Amy got up, flipped her over on her stomach. Pulled her hips up from behind, whispered against her ear: still not done with you.

And then two fingers, deep, slow, curling. Ellie cried out, forehead pressed to the sheets. You're mine tonight, Amy growled. Every moan, every shake, mine. Ellie reached back, grabbing at Amy's hip, begging for more. Amy thrust harder, deeper, rhythmic, Intense, unforgiving. Ellie was clawing the mattress now, sobbing with pleasure. Her second orgasm ripped through her violently and still, Amy kept going.

Later, they lay in bed, sweat slick between them. Amy had one hand behind her head, staring up at the ceiling , her other hand was protectively cupped over Ellie's still sensitive core. Ellie rolled onto her side, hair a mess, lips swollen. She kissed Amy's jaw, then her neck. Tried to reach down and touch her, return the favor. Amy caught her wrist gently. No, she whispered. Let me be the one to

take care of you, but I'm already sorted.

Ellie smiled sleepily, laid her head on Amy's chest and for the first time in weeks, Amy felt peace.
