Chapter 2 - Ranks

Jelehu smiled proudly as she walked back. Her desire was already decided. She was going to join the Witch Organization. This was the lock of her mind. She walked to Xavin and smiled at him. Xavin gave a wry smile, and Jelehu chuckled lightly.

"I hope yours would be better up," Jelehu said.

Xavin only nodded. He truthfully did not care for his rank or class. All he wanted was a qualification that he would be free to run life at its random wave.

Delson looked at Jelehu and smiled.

"Congrats, Jelehu. You awakened a rare energy type!" Delson said and smiled.

Jelehu was about to respond when there was a loud cheer. The sound shook the earth rigorously.

Jelehu turned around and smiled through the commotion. "What was going on?"

On reaching the stage, she saw a tall, handsome, light-skinned guy with silky black hair. The red screen materialized before him to aid Jelehu a lot.

Name: Stormon Rics

Energy Level: 6510 exp

Rank: Elite

Class: Summoner

Energy Type: Blades of Flames

Rics smiled proudly. He looked at everyone, sure to himself that no one was going to be able to surpass him. The rank after Elite was the Legendary, which was the limit of magic.

Jelehu looked at him and smiled meaningfully when he saw her.

"Now, can you date that loser of a fucker, I get that!" Rics bragged, and Jelehu felt insulted as much as she wanted.

Because the words got to her, she stood there and stared at him with anger.

Rics burst into laughter. He was not a vain one to bottle anger, even though he was quite peculiar.

Rics bent over, hovering, and grabbed her jaw faintly for a kiss, but she reacted by slapping him hard on the face.

Jelehu turned and walked away, fast and angry. She did not want to know where she was.

She secretly came back to Xavin, who was eating a cookie.

Jelehu stood and watched as he ate innocently. He was cute and indeed an opposite of Rics. She really wished he would awaken a nice rank and class.

"Xavin, you look so unperturbed. Are you not concerned about the Awakening Test?" Jelehu asked.

But Xavin continued eating. He turned to look at her.

"I think I am, but I do not really care. I just want to graduate with an edge and go back home. I am not interestedin any job." Xavin said, fed, and for a moment, Jelehu felt the emotions of Xavin.

She had not expected him to have emotions. She stared at him in awe.

Xavin turned to look at her. He noticed that she had become enthusiastic towards him. He really wished he could socialize, but he did not know where to begin from.

He just turned his head away and stared at the stage, where Mr. Criz was yet to call the next student.

"Xavin Holder," Mr. Criz said.

A ripple of laughter bursted across the crowd. He was such a loser that his name was an object of mockery.

Mr. Criz sighed as he knew Xavin was going to be their worst student yet.

Xavin walked up the stage. He stuffed his biscuits lazily as he walked anxiously. He seemed to care less for his magic academia. Most teachers noticed that Xavin actually had a strong and smart mind, but they understood that he was the "phobia of academia."

This made him seem too much of a loser. The fact that Xavin cared less for his name was an amazement. He was a quiet guy who just wanted to think to himself. He associated less with others, and he had no other friends except Jelehu and Delson, who were obviously trying to be friends with him.

Xavin was 5 feet tall and nice. White hair and crimson eyes added beauty to his looks. He was extremely handsome, but his attitude towards social life caused him to keep the opposite sex away. Many girls secretly admired him, which was why Jelehu was envied, as she was the only one who could relate with Xavin more than others.

Once a time, Jelehu was sternly warned against staying close to Xavin, but she noticed that she was attracted to Xavin and therefore could not relate with him like they decided to set their fate to.

Of course, Jelehu was one of the high-class students of Oschetard Mage Academy.

Xavin was privileged to associate with her, but he did not appreciate that. This stirred up hatred against him from the Jelehu boys. Delson was the only boy who still hung around with Xavin.

With the circumstances surrounding Xavin, most students hated him, and when they looked at the list, it gave them more reason to laugh and mock him. Now he was going to find out his awakened rank.

This was the moment everyone was waiting for—when Xavin would get another disgrace. A disgrace for life.

Xavin knew this also but didn't care.

Xavin walked up the stage and swallowed the last cookie or biscuit he was eating.

He looked at the Learner's Orb and noted a repelling energy that evolved from it the moment his hands were on it. Everywhere was seized in suspense.

The girls secretly admired Xavin, but nothing was accepted.

The boys gnashed their teeth and expected the worst for him.

Mr. Criz could have sworn that he saw the orb glow a rainbow energy. But when he looked again, he saw a transparent orb staring at him.

For a moment, everyone forgot what the transparent energy meant—Newbie rank.

A transparent motherboard materialized before him. His stats popped out.

Name: Xavin Holder

Energy Level: 300 EXP

Rank: Newbie

Class: Warlock

Energy Type: Death Order

Everywhere was momentarily tensed. There was supposed to be laughter, but that was not the case. There was mystery and confusion.

A Newbie was not supposed to have a class, as it was considered that Newbies were as good as humans.

Xavin had attained a Warlock and was even a Summoner.
