Makayla couldn't move her eyes off her prince charming. The blue suit he was wearing suited him perfectly. His black hair shimmered so brightly under the chandeliers in the ballroom. His smile complimented his whole look.
He was starring right at her ever since she and Lucy made that grand entrance.
His friends started to tease him for being lucky in getting such a girl as his date.
Mak on the other hand was so nervous and didn't know what to do. This was her first time dating and she didn't know if Justin liked her.
He only asked her to be his prom date and since she really liked him,she said yes. Maybe it was out of pity he asked her or maybe he didn't get anyone to be with. This was why she didn't devote her everything into this.
She didn't want to get disappointed and heartbroken.
"Won't you go to him?" Lucy asked her friend.
"But he hasn't called me"Mak innocently answered.
"So what?Can't you see how he is looking at you. Besides you are his date so you don't need to wait for him to call you. Do you even watch dramas at all?" Lucy asked a little aggrieved.
"But I can't leave you alone here"Mak said.
She knew she didn't have the courage to walk to Justin. What if he felt she was a clingy person? She didn't want to look obsessed even though she was. Leaving a bad impression was the least she could do of anything happened.
"Girl,stop giving excuses and go to him. I have a date remember?"Lucy retorted as she gently pushed her bestie towards Justin's direction.
But luckily,the guy decided to take the initiative and started walking to the girls.
Mak instantly stiffened when she saw him coming and as if Lucy knew,maybe she noticed, whispered to her friend to calm her down.
"Relax,he's not going to eat you.Just act as we planned. Don't forget"
How could Mak forget the lecture she got from her best friend on how to act when you were with your crush?
She had chewed the steps and what to say exactly. They even researched on what Justin's interests were and how she would initiate them so it didn't look like she stalked him though she did.
"Good evening Makayla,Hi Lucy."Justin greeted once he got to the girls.
"Good evening Justin" Mak responded.
Lucy responded with only a smile then seeing it to be a great opportunity,she decided to abandon her friend.
"Since you are now here to accompany your date,I will go to mine. Please take care of her and have fun but not too much fun"she said as she gave him a look he clearly understood.
Mak felt betrayed when Lucy did this to her but she saw it coming.
"You look really beautiful today"Justin complimented once Lucy finally left.
"Thank you. You too"she said and he raised his eyebrows in question.
"I mean you look handsome sorry" she quickly explained feeling embarrassed.
"Already screwing up?"she heard Lucy say in the ear plugs. Mak had suggested this in order to let Lucy tell her anything in case she was out of words or ideas for a conversation.
There was a silence that followed after Mak had apologized and she was brainstorming what to say.
No sooner had she got an idea than someone called for their attention.
Whew,she silently breathe a sigh of relief. Who knew dating could be so frustrating.
"Good evening students of Sunflower High. Welcome to your first prom night. As you can see,the decorations were not easy to accomplish but with my very effort and time,I made it work"
"There she went again. Always complimenting herself" A girl whispered to her friends and they all laughed.
"She didn't even mention
those who literally invested their time and energy into in. You are so selfless Principal Beems " A guy sarcastically said and his friends also laughed.
Only if she knew how her students were backbiting her right under her nose.
Yet she didn't know so as she planned to shower them with entertainment, which she did,she raised her voice a little higher and said;
"Deejay,it's time for the ball dance. Everyone get your partners and start dancing. Plus,don't forget to vote for your prom king and queen. Have fun everyone."she finished and the crowd cheered for her.
Times like this that the students of Sunflower High loved their Principal.She descended from the stage and where she went,nobody knew and cared.
"May I have this dance?" Justin asked his date .
"Uhm please I need to go to the restroom for a minute" Mak requested and once allowed,she dashed to the bathroom.
"What are you doing?" Her best friend asked in confusion through the ear plugs.
"Oh so you are there? What should I do?" she asked curiously.
"What should you do?what should you do? Even an eight year old girl would know what to do in this situation. You may be really smart but when it comes to things like this,you are dumb as fuck" Lucy insulted this time.She sounded annoyed which she was .
She was now tired of Mak when it came to stuffs like this. Who in the world wouldn't know what to do when your crush asked you for a dance.
Mak was aggravated by her friend's harsh remark but she knew better than anyone that it was true. She decided to swallow her pride and listen to her friend since she was the master of these stuff.
"That's why I need your help.So what should I say?" She asked her friend.
"Yes of course,why did I let you learn how to dance when not for this main purpose.
Girl go back and say yes before someone takes him already.
And I'm disconnecting this thing.
I didn't come to the prom only for your sake" She said.
"Wait but I ... " Mak didn't even finish her sentence when she realized Lucy had disconnected their call.She felt a little anxious but decided to calm down.
"Okay fine,you got this Mak,it's just a dance which Lucy requested her choreographer tto teach you.
Don't be nervous. He would surely like you." She said to herself.
So breathing in and out and adjusting her dress,she exited the restroom.
The music had already started and people were already dancing when Mak came back.
She saw Justin sipping something so she went to his side with a smile plastered on her face. The smile was genuine of course.
"Sorry if I took long" She sincerely apologized
"Don't worry,I wasn't waiting that long" he assured and they both smiled. Mak was rather blushing.
"Shall we?"he said as he stretched his hand towards her like what they did in the Royal romantic dramas.
"We shall"Mak responded like the princess that she was and with that,the two couple went to the dancefloor.
