Chapter 5 - The Power of Tier 1... And An Egg? | Day 2 Part 2

As expected, Ein woke up in the (Safe Zone). Exactly where he passed out a night ago. He checks his (Port), and just like (Rebirth) said. Everything he got before saving was erased from his inventory, but everything he crafted while in the void was safe, including (Galepierce). He wasted no time getting to work.

"(Create) LVL 1 Forge." He says as he holds his hand out as a hologram appears of its placement.

[CREATE:]

[FORGE & ANVIL {LVL 1}.

COST: ANY 10 ROCKS (TIER 2+), ANY 4 METAL ORE, ANY 5 CLAY.]

[REQ. TIER 1+ HAMMER]

He was missing a lot of materials. He simply let the hologram linger there. Next, he (Create)s an (Alchemy Table).

[CREATE:]

[ALCHEMY TABLE {LVL 1}.

COST: ANY 20 FIBER, ANY 20 FLINT, ANY 20 WOOD)

[REQ. TIER 1+ KNIFE]

This time, he did have the materials to build it, the timer reading out ten minutes. Ein got to work on collecting materials for his forge around his base camp. He'll want potions, and a lot of them. He'll also need to craft some actual armor.

Ein never noticed before, but he landed in an incredibly pretty lucky spot. The surrounding area was a VERY fertile forest, but it was also pretty mountainous. He could also smell a faint ash like smell in the air. Perfect for finding ore and Herbs. Unfortunately, he wouldn't be able to find iron, even in this ideal environment. He has a plan for that, anyway. No, right now he's looking for two ores.

Copper and Tin.

He walked along a Cliffside, attempting to find some semblance or sign of them and collecting any materials he could get his hands on as he did so. A few minutes of searching later—"There she is." He said out loud, spotting a teal-ish discoloration in the rocks on the cliffside. He takes out (Galepierce) and throws it right next to the outcrop, sticking it in the wall. He climbs on it and touches the rock, hoping that it actually was what he's looking for.

And it was.

[COPPER ORE x62]

[QUALITY: HORRID (TIER 1)]

[DESCRIPTION: A SEDIMENTARY ROCK CONTAINING A MINERAL CALLED COPPER. IN ANCIENT EARTHEN AND REMNANT TIMES, IT WAS USED TO CREATE WEAK, BUT EFFECTIVE TOOLS AND TRINKETS UNTIL IT WAS REPLACED BY TIN. BUT ONE DAY, AN ANCIENT MANTLEAN SMITH ACCIDENTALLY DROPPED A LARGE AMOUNT OF MOLTEN COPPER INTO A BATCH OF MOLTEN TIN. IN AN ATTEMPT TO HIDE HIS MISTAKE, HE MIXED THE SOLUTION. THE KING OF MISTRAL DID FIGURE IT OUT AND HAD THE SMITH EXECUTED. HOWEVER, UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, IT TURNED OUT THAT THE SMITH, IN HIS MISTAKE, CREATED SOMETHING GREATER. BRONZE.]

He was so glad he got the (Blacksmith) skill. Otherwise, he'd never have had this knowledge of ores. He jumps upwards, reaching out to (Galepierce) as it dislodges itself from the rock and flies to him with its one wing. Then, he slashes towards the outcrop. It obviously wouldn't have reached, but the extremely sharp ribbons of (Galepierce) came alive and extended itself, slashing into the Cliffside and extracting the copper ore. Wonderful. That's one thing down. One more to go.

Ein collects more herbs on the ground for more potions, finding herbs and plants. Their descriptions were… peculiar. So to speak.

[CHRYSANTHEMUM x12]

[QUALITY: HORRID (TIER 1)]

[DESCRIPTION: A PLANT NATIVE TO MISTRAL. IN TRADITIONAL MISTRALI HERBOLOGY, THE FLOWER HEAD WAS DRIED AND USED IN MEDICINE TO CURE MINOR ILLNESSES. IT WAS ALSO USED IN TEA FOR ITS BENEFITS. HOWEVER, WITH THE INTERFERENCE OF (???), IT HAS GAINED CERTAIN ALCHEMICAL USES AND TRAITS AND ARE NOT NATIVE TO IT.]

Ein remembers he once went on a field trip to China with his classmates. They were there for an educational tour about plants and herbs. That included them knowing and touching certain plants, feeling them. These Chrysanthemum flowers didn't feel like they should be. They felt… Metallic, almost. The once gentle feeling of the flower was replaced by a much smoother, harder feeling. The other plants were like that too. Some felt like their petals and leaves were stronger. Some felt elastic. One even phased through his hand when he tried to acquire it. Even when he directly tried to (Port) it, it wouldn't budge. He'll have to get it later

[CHAMOMILE x15]

[QUALITY: HORRID (TIER 1)]

[DESCRIPTION: A PLANT NATIVE TO MISTRAL AND VALE. IN TRADITIONAL MISTRALI AND VALEAN HERBOLOGY, IT WAS CRUSHED AND USED TO TREAT CERTAIN SKIN CONDITIONS AND FOR ITS MILD SEDATIVE PROPERTIES. IT WAS ALSO USED IN TEA FOR ITS BENEFITS. HOWEVER, WITH THE INTERFERENCE OF (???), IT HAS GAINED CERTAIN ALCHEMICAL USES AND TRAITS NOT NATIVE TO IT.]

[RUBBER HERB x4]

[QUALITY: BAD (TIER 2)]

[DESCRIPTION: AN HERB THAT'S NOT MEANT TO EXIST, BUT MATERIALIZED ALL OVER REMNANT DUE TO (???)'S INTERFERENCE. THE HERB IS RUBBERY IN TEXTURE. IT CAN STRETCH UPTO 5 METERS LONG WITHOUT SNAPPING. IT HAS ALCHEMICAL USES.]

[AURORA HERB x7]

[QUALITY: BAD (TIER 2)]

[DESCRIPTION: AN HERB THAT'S NOT MEANT TO EXIST, BUT MATERIALIZED IN MISTRAL AND ATLAS DUE TO (???)'S INTERFERENCE. THE HERB IS COLORED WITH BEAUTIFUL SHADES OF BLUE AND PURPLE. WHEN VIEWING IT, IT LOOKS LIKE THE COLORS SHIFT DEPENDING ON THE VEIWER. IT FEELS COLD TO THE TOUCH.]

The (???)s were ominous. What did it mean? Whatever it was, it was a mystery to add to the ever growing pile of them.

Besides, he had another thing he focused on.

[TIN ORE x84]

[QUALITY: HORRID (TIER 1)]

[DESCRIPTION: AN IGNEOUS ROCK CONTAINING A MINERAL CALLED TIN. WHEN IT WAS DISCOVERED ANCIENT REMNANT TIMES, IT REPLACED COPPER IN ITS USE FOR METAL TOOLS. BUT ONE DAY...] The description was the same as Copper Ore from that point.

He repeated the process he did with the copper ore and went home, smiling to himself and collecting any other materials he found on the way.

By the time he got back he collected a bunch of materials, including clay from a nearby riverbank, and his new crafting station was already done.

[ALCHEMY TABLE {LVL 1}]

[DURABILITY: 1300/1300]

[DESCRIPTION: A TABLE USED BY ALCHEMISTS TO CREATE BREWS TO EITHER SUPPORT THEIR ALLIES OR HINDER THEIR ENEMIES.]

The (Alchemy table) exuded an aura that made it feel ominous. On top of the wooden table were flasks, bottles, and other glass apparatuses. Other than that, it also had a piece of parchment in the middle with an intricately designed pentagram in the middle, looking like it was written by blood.

"Wow… My base looks evil so far..." He realizes. He feels bad for any poor saps that manage to encounter his demonic looking setup. I didn't even mean for it to look like this! He thinks. He extends his arm to the lingering hologram.

[FORGE & ANVIL {LVL 1}.

COST: ANY 10 ROCKS (TIER 2+), ANY 4 METAL ORE, ANY 5 CLAY.]

[REQ. TIER 1+ HAMMER]

He takes out a bunch of clay, granite, and spare ore and begins its construction. Just like the (Alchemy Table), this station would take ten minutes to construct.

For now, he interacted with the (Alchemy Table) to craft. He looks through the menu for a bit and browsing what he could create. There were potions, as expected. But there were unique potions made of Grimm parts. "Eugh... A recipe using Beowolf eyes?" He shuddered to wonder what that would even do. Eventually, he picked out what he wanted to make.

[MINOR POWER POTION {LVL 1}: (COST: CHAMOMILE 2x, AURORA HERB x1)]

[MINOR SHIELD POTION {LVL 1}: (COST: CHRYSANTHEMUM 4x)]

[MINOR GIANT POTION {LVL 1}: (COST: CHRYSANTHEMUM 2x, RUBBER HERB x1)]

[MINOR FROSTBITE ELIXIR {LVL 1}: (COST: AURORA HERB 5x)]

He crafts two of each, with the exception of the expensive (Minor Frostbite Elixir), then leaves them to brew, noticing that his (Forge & Anvil) finished its construction.

[FORGE & ANVIL {LVL 1}]

[DURABILITY: 1500/1500]

[DESCRIPTION: A PRIMITIVE FURNACE TO MELT METAL AND AN ANVIL TO SHAPE IT. THE BEGINNNING OF A DAWN OF A NEW ERA.]

He looked through that list as well. All the items he could craft in the (Forge & Anvil) were expensive, he checks his ore reserves.

[COPPER ORE 256x, TIN ORE 122x]

Ein clicks his tongue. Not even enough for a full set. His frustration was let out in a groan. Whatever, it's fine. It's just the armor bonuses I need anyways. He relents. The list of things he could make went on and on. Different materials, different armors for different fighting styles and classes. The highest tier he could make as of now were iron sets. Tier 3.

Eventually, he decided on what he was going to make.

[LIGHT BRONZE PLATE: (COST: COPPER ORE 100x, TIN ORE 25x, ANY FIBER 10x)]

[LIGHT BRONZE KNEE PADS: (COST: COPPER ORE 80x, TIN 20x, ANY FIBER 5x)]

[LIGHT BRONZE SABATONS: (COST: COPPER ORE 40x, TIN 8x)]

[TIN BOW: (COST: TIN 30x, ANY FIBER 10x)]

[TIN ARROW 3x: (COST: TIN 1x, ANY WOOD 1x. ANY FLETCHING 1x (OPTIONAL).)]

[TIN TOOL SET: (COST: TIN 30x, ANY WOOD 20x)]

[TIN TOOL SET INCLUDES: vvvEXPANDvvv]

Now he waits.

[LIGHT BRONZE PLATE EQUIPPED]

[QUALITY: BAD (TIER 2)]

[DURABILITY: 500/500]

[STATS: +10 MAX HP, +2 AC, COVERAGE AREA = 0.8x DAMAGE.]

[SET: BRONZE SCOUT SET 1/4]

[DESCRIPTION: A SINGLE, SIMPLE BRONZE PLATE. MINIMAL, BUT DURABLE AND LIGHTWEIGHT. ONCE USED BY ANCIENT VALEAN SCOUTS.]

[LIGHT BRONZE KNEE PADS EQUIPPED]

[QUALITY: BAD (TIER 2)]

[DURABILITY: 500/500]

[STATS: +2 AC, COVERAGE AREA = 0.8x DAMAGE.]

[SET: BRONZE SCOUT SET 2/4]

[DESCRIPTION: A PAIR OF BRONZE KNEE PADS. UNLIKE A FULL SET OF LEGGINGS, THESE PADS ARE SILENT WHILE PROVIDING THE NECESSARY PROTECTION AGAINST ENEMIES. PERFECT FOR SCOUTING]

[LIGHT BRONZE SABATONS EQUIPPED]

[QUALITY: BAD (TIER 2)]

[DURABILITY: 500/500]

[STATS: +1 AC, COVERAGE AREA = 0.8x DAMAGE.]

[SET: BRONZE SCOUT SET 3/4]

[DESCRIPTION: A PAIR OF BRONZE SABATONS. LIGHT AND COMFORTABLE, THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE USER ARE DIFFICULT TO DETECT. PERFECT FOR SCOUTS.]

[VIEW SELF PORTRAIT?]

[Y/N]

Ein clicks yes. "Thank god, I actually look ready now instead of being some rando civilian." He looked at himself in the mirror. He only had three of four of the set, unfortunately, but having an extra five armor on top of the plus five he got from his aura was a lot.

The only piece he was missing from the set were the (Light Bronze Pauldrons) due to how little copper he had. He hadn't expected the recipes to be so expensive and greatly underestimated how many ores he needed.

Next, the potions.

[MINOR POWER POTION {LVL 1} 2x]

[QUALITY: HORRID (TIER 1)]

[STATS: +1 STR AND AGI. +2 TOTAL DAMAGE.]

[DURATION: 6 MINUTES]

[DESCRIPTION: A CRIMSON RED CONCOCTION THAT GRANTS AN SMALL AMOUNT OF POWER TO ANY WHO DRINK IT. THE PREFERRED POTION FOR BEGINNER WARRIORS OF OLD.]

[MINOR SHIELD POTION {LVL 1} 2x]

[QUALITY: HORRID (TIER 1)]

[STATS: +2 AC.]

[DURATION: 6 MINUTES]

[DESCRIPTION: A LIME GREEN CONCOCTION THAT GRANTS MINOR PROTECTION TO THOSE WHO DRINK IT. PREFERRED BY STINGY PALADINS AND PROTECTORS. PAIRED WITH THE MINOR GIANT POTION.]

[MINOR GIANT POTION {LVL 1} 2x]

[QUALITY: HORRID (TIER 1)]

[STATS: 10% KNOCKBACK RESISTANCE.]

[DURATION: 6 MINUTES]

[DESCRIPTION: A BROWN CONCOCTION WHICH GRANTS GREAT VITALITY TO THOSE WHO DRINK IT. PREFERRED BY STINGY PALADINS AND PROTECTORS. PAIRED WITH THE MINOR GIANT POTION.]

[MINOR FROSTBITE ELIXIR {LVL 1}]

[QUALITY: BAD (TIER 2)]

[STATS: INFLICTS STATUS: FROSTBITE I]

[DESCRIPTION: A COOL, POTENT POTION. CAN BE USED TO CURE HEATSTROKES IN SMALL DOSES, BUT WILL GIVE FROSTBITE IF TOO MUCH IS CONSUMED AT ONCE. PREFERRED BY FIRE MAGES OF OLD TO COOL THEIR HEARTS BEFORE MAGIC WAS TAKEN AWAY BY THE BROTHER GODS.]

He only really made the potions due to their cheap costs, except for the elixir, where he let his curiosity get the best of him. Looks like it was worth it after all... He thinks as he inspected the description.

What the hell is a Brother God? He asked himself. As far as his memories went, there never were any mention of gods in RWBY. Magic... Exists because of the Brothers? He asked once again in wonder, his hand on his chin.

He shakes his head. It wasn't important right now. He opts instead to have a look at his new toy.

[TIN BOW]

[QUALITY: HORRID (TIER 1)]

[DURABILITY: 200/200]

[STATS: +6 TOTAL DAMAGE]

[DESCRIPTION: A MECHANICAL BOW MADE OF TIN. THE FIRST OF ITS KIND, IN PART DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE WEAPON WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE TO USE WITHOUT (REBIRTH) AND (???)'S INTERFERENCE.]

[FLETCHINGLESS TIN ARROW (x27)]

[QUALITY: HORRID (TIER 1)]

[STATS: +2 TOTAL DAMAGE, -2 DEX]

[DESCRIPTION: AMMUNITION FOR BOWS WITH A TIN TIP. DUE TO HAVING NO FLETCHING, THE ARROW IS SIGNIFICANTLY LESS ACCURATE THAN IT SHOULD BE.]

He was slightly disappointed with the (Tin Bow). Unlike the (Galepierce), this one didn't have that hidden potential. He wouldn't be able to use the remaining soul he had in his inventory. What changed? He thought. The feeling of making the bow was different too. It wasn't as... satisfying as making the (Flint Spear). There was also another mention of (???). He had a feeling he wouldn't be able to figure it out right now, so he left it be.

There was only one thing to do now. Test out his new stats and gear—

Groooowl...

... After he ate.

"It's like if I constantly had (Sprint) on during my last run!" He said in pride, the smile on his face growing ever wider with each crunch of the red leaves beneath his feet. Damage numbers that would've given him a serious overkill bonus were now simply just half of their health. "Why did a single level double your stat line?!" He complained as he blocked coordinated hits from the uninjured Beowolves. Meanwhile, the Alpha merely watched behind the pack, as if to analyze him.

Like it was sentient. Impossible...

So blocking does do something. He thought. He couldn't risk it before, since his health was so low, he couldn't afford to block, in case he took full damage. He swiftly counters with two stabs with (Galepierce). Before— "(Firebolt)!" He points his finger towards the alpha.

[BEOWOLF: DEAD]

It combusted in a ball of flames. Meanwhile, in a quick moment of decision, In a way that grounds? It was time for another test. He sends out ribbons and brutally slams the airborne Beowolf down into the ground.

[HOST HAS BEEN STRUCK 2x]

[9 x 1.0 - 10]

And it was incredibly effective. "Looks like I was worried for nothing!" He quipped before he sends the ribbons out towards one Beowolf, wrapping it, before using it as a club, slamming it into one of its other brethren. "Your stat lines look threatening, but you're nothing!" That familiar, cocky overconfidence filled him once again. His lips curved into a grin.

With those two down, it was just the Alpha. Despite Ein's performance, The Alpha Beowolf simply continued to observe. "What, scared?" He taunted. The Grimm doesn't respond. Then it growls. Ein puts his weapon up in preparation of its incoming attack—

Ein's weapon pings loudly, as in an immense speed, the Alpha dashed in, its boney claw sparking grinding against his weapon.

The alpha drove its claw onto his throat. "You little—!" Thankfully, his aura absorbed the hit, but it was still alarming how his effectively second HP bar could still get cut in half like that, despite the strength he now possessed. He grit his teeth in frustration before slamming the butt of his spear into the side of the alpha's head before stabbing forwards with the tip.

Thunder crackled to life on his arms. "Appear before me to strike true all those who oppose me!" The alpha seemed to sense what he was trying to do. Its desperate wilding kicked up with twice the force, but still Ein held on.
