Chapter 40 - Memories Are Back

Ronan was walking back and forth, his fingers passing through his dark locks from time to time. He heard the footsteps and quickly walked to the door, trying to manage his expressions. Shael opened the door and saw Ronan standing in front.

"What's going on?" Ronan asked, tracing Shael tip to the toes.

"Sorrell was having a tough time with his partner. He wanted to stay at my apartment for a few days, so I stepped out to give him the keys."

"I see." Despite trying to manage his expressions, he looked so devastated.

"Something happened at the company?" Shael asked as he changed his shoes.

"No, not really. It's just... It's—" Ronan's head was too blank to give an excuse. "I got worried. You were nowhere to be found, so my heart sank," Ronan blurted out, facing Shael.

Shael cupped Ronan's face. "I am sorry for not informing you. You were sleeping, so I didn't want to disturb you."

"Aren't you hungry?" Shael asked as he walked to the kitchen.

"Yeah, a little bit."
