"Jiang, why did you hit me?" Hunter's face froze in shock.
He never expected Jackson to hit him at this moment. He stood there, holding his left cheek in disbelief.
Jackson's face was dark and he didn't even acknowledge Hunter. He looked at Daisy and gritted his teeth, "Daisy, you're ruthless!"
Only he knew what had happened in the room.
When he walked into the private room with the contract, Mr. Xu found out that James Family had changed their contract manager. He immediately refused to sign the contract and said that he would no longer cooperate with James Family.
Jackson never expected things to turn out this way. Visionary Company was a giant in the real estate industry. If this news got out, countless companies would refuse to work with James Family. If that happened, wouldn't his grandfather kill him?
Why did this happen?
Jackson's first thought was Daisy! She must have done something to sabotage the deal. It was no wonder that she came here early this morning. She was here to watch him fail!
As for Grant, who Hunter had mentioned?
How could this loser have any connection with Visionary Company?
"Get out! Get out now!" Jackson had nowhere to vent his anger, and he slapped Hunter again. "From today on, you're fired from our company!"
Hunter was stunned for a moment.
He had just left Daisy's company to join Jackson's company. And now, just like that, he was fired with a single sentence? Jackson didn't care about Hunter's expression and left the spot in anger. Just a second ago, he had mocked Daisy, but now that he had been proven wrong, he couldn't face her anymore.
"Miss James," President Forrest walked out of the office at that moment, his gaze fixed on Grant. He was surprised to see this notorious weakling from Jiangnan being favored by Old Master Foster. Nevertheless, he spoke up, "Our company still likes to work with diligent teams like yours. We hope to sign this contract with you again, and the person in charge can only be you. Do you agree?"
"Yes...yes, I agree," Daisy nodded dumbfoundedly. President Forrest's words had shocked her. She never dared to dream that she would be given back the contract and be appointed as the person in charge. Grant's words had come true, and it was all happening!
Grant stepped aside and watched as Daisy signed the new contract foolishly.
"Is it done like this?" Daisy still couldn't believe it as she walked down the stairs with the contract in her hands.
"Of course," Grant nodded with a smile, feeling a little sweet in his heart. He had never seen Daisy so happy in the three years they had been together.
"Daisy, I'm sorry. I know I was wrong!" Hunter stood at the door, blocking Daisy's way as soon as they got out of the elevator. "Please let me come back to your team. I promise to behave myself!"
"People move up, and our shop is too small to accommodate a big shot like you!" Daisy's gaze swept coldly over Hunter's face before she turned and got into the car.
"Daisy, please, I'm begging you," Hunter felt regretful as he watched the car exhaust fumes dissipate. He had been fired by Jackson, and now that Daisy had regained the project contract, he felt like he had lost everything.
"How did you manage to do it?" Daisy kept her eyes on Grant as she drove.
Grant lay on the seat, looking out the window. "I have a friend who happens to work at Visionary Company. I asked him for help this time."
"Another one of your friends?" Daisy looked at him with suspicion.
She couldn't help but feel like it was too much of a coincidence.
"And how could your friend possibly get Mr. Xu to agree?" Daisy's excitement faded, and she suddenly looked serious. "Grant, I don't want you to lie to me."
"Okay, I know you have a lot of questions. Just ask me anything." Grant spoke earnestly. "I'll try to explain everything."
Daisy took a deep breath and calmed down. She did have a lot of questions. "Alright, first of all, you were able to fight back at the Emperor Club before, and you're good at fighting today. Why have I never seen you fight before?"
"I was in the army, so I do know some martial arts." Grant nodded. "And you've never been in danger before."
"You... you were in the army?"
Daisy's face showed surprise.
"Your friends from the army, right?"
"Yes."
"But if you're so good, why do you always take the insults from my mother and relatives without fighting back?" Daisy asked.
"Because there's no need. I only use my skills when you're in danger." Grant replied calmly. Daisy opened her mouth to continue asking, but she couldn't find the words. A sudden surge of sadness filled her heart. This man in front of her had skills and connections, but he only used them for her, enduring insults for three whole years.
"Why are you so silly?" Grant laughed and couldn't help but reach out and rub her head. "You've endured more than me, so why should I care?"
Daisy blushed and quickly avoided Grant's hand, looking ahead without turning her gaze. She didn't know why, but Grant's ambiguous actions didn't make her feel angry, only her cheeks turned red.
"So why did you stay with our James Family?" Daisy quickly changed the subject.
"Your father saved my life back then, and I owe him one. He asked me to protect you for three years," Grant said calmly. "And besides, I was just a housekeeper who only knew how to do housework in your family, and your mother is my elder. It's nothing to say a few words."
"Then when I get home, I'll tell my mother not to mention you again."
"No need, I only wanted to tell you alone. There's no need to let others know," Grant shook his head. "In a month and a half, it will be the time of your father's will. Your mother will definitely ask us to divorce then. It's meaningless to tell her now."
"So you want us to divorce so badly?"
Daisy was so angry that she gritted her teeth. Seeing this guy's indifferent expression, she felt inexplicably uncomfortable.
Was he looking down on her like this?
"Wasn't it you who mentioned divorce back then?"
Grant was confused.
"You--whatever!" Daisy's face darkened and she stepped on the accelerator.
The engine roared, and Grant looked bewildered. Did he say something wrong?
Just as Daisy arrived home, her phone rang.
"Daisy, your grandfather wants you to come to the hospital, and bring that useless guy with you!" Jackson sneered on the other end of the line, making Daisy feel uncomfortable. She didn't expect that Jackson would go straight to her grandfather after just changing the contract.
"I'll go over now," Daisy said in a low voice.
The two of them quickly arrived at the hospital, still in the top ward they had stayed in before. However, there weren't as many people in the hospital now, only a few of Jackson's men. Although Third Master James was still lying in bed, his complexion had improved significantly.
"Third Master James, you'll be able to leave the hospital in two days," Eric said with a smile as he put away his silver needles.
After the previous lesson, Eric now only used needles in non-critical areas. Third Master James' recovery was purely due to Grant's two previous treatments with gold needles.
"After you're discharged, my master will come for a personal visit to ensure your health and longevity."
Third Master James smiled and nodded repeatedly. "Thank you, Dr. Li."
Eric's words were pleasing to the ear, and Third Master James couldn't stop smiling. "Thank you, Dr. Li. This is a small token of my appreciation."
"Someone, see Dr. Li off."
"Third Master James is too kind. It's just a small matter," Dr. Li said, beaming with joy as he accepted the red envelope. It was so easy to make money by just using some needle techniques.
As he walked past the door, he even spat at Grant.
"Useless!"
"Wait until my master comes, and I'll teach you a lesson!"
