Chapter 7 - Ch-7, Starting from Zero

"Want to know if your decision was right or wrong?" said the mirror.

I stumbled backward. The image in the mirror was my reflection, yet it was standing—while I wasn't.

Emma was also in the room. She noticed me and rushed over as soon as she realized what was happening. Without hesitation, she punched the mirror. It shattered into hundreds of pieces, each fragment releasing a strange yellow aura before turning pitch black.

Miss Margaret was nearby, because the moment the mirror broke, she came running into the room. She glanced at the scene and seemed to immediately understand what had happened.

"You tried to talk to the mirror?" she asked.

"I was just talking to myself, and suddenly it spoke back. Then she—Emma—broke it, and it turned black…" I stammered, fear and confusion heavy in my voice.

She laughed. Her laughter, strangely enough, made me realize this wasn't as serious as I had thought, and I relaxed a little.

After controlling her laugh, she said, "In this world, never talk to someone—or something—unknown. You must understand the fear of the unknown. Be it a mirror or a person."

"Okay… but how did the mirror speak human language?" I asked, still baffled.

"The mirror didn't say anything. Think of it this way: just as society has both good and evil, this world also has gods and evil entities. What you just encountered was an evil entity. It didn't actually speak—it entered your mind and made you think it was speaking. In truth, it was only staring at you."

I shouldn't have expected anything less from a world where magic is considered normal… I thought.

Margaret continued, "These evil entities are born from negative divinity. They dwell in the Nathana Abyss, and mirrors are gateways to that abyss. But don't worry—you're safe now. What you should truly focus on is adapting to this world. You'll have to start your life from zero again."

She was right. I really would be starting my life in another world from zero…

Room No. 15C

Three months have passed since I came to this world, and I've learned a lot.

Firstly, I learned Terexi, Aetherixi, and Velixi—the three major languages of Parallaxia. All of them originate from an ancient tongue known as Prelexi.

Secondly, this world is far larger than Earth—almost ten times its size. This means a single day here lasts 50 hours, and each hour contains 100 minutes. Of course, they use different names: they call an hour a Period and a minute a Semi-Period (or just sp). A year—known as a Satra—consists of 10 months, called Matras.

Thirdly, this world has both magic and real gods. Those who can wield magic are called Diviners. They gain their powers by consuming potions, performing rituals, or praying to one of the six gods: the God of Land, the God of Air, the God of Fire, the God of Water, the God of Space, and the God of Nature. The source of their strength is Divine Particles, or dp—similar to mana in fantasy worlds. These divine particles flow into the world from the great divine tree, called Life.

And lastly—the reason I was brought into this world. A half-human, half-Eternian body has a unique trait: it is exceptionally compatible with divine particles. This means even an average half-human, half-Eternian is more powerful than a pure Eternian.
