Chapter 1 - PROLOGUE: Left Hanging

Shit, shit, shit.

Suspended in the cold air, Linda felt as if she were about to fall. She dangled upside down, her body bounded so tightly it tore her skin.

It hurts!

Her entire neck burned. She could feel blood spilling out of it, drops sliding all the way down into her lips—leaving an iron taste in her mouth.

Moonlight shone through the windows, allowing her to better see her surroundings. She was a good distance above the floor, tied by her ankle.

How did I end up here?

She looked around, searching for a way out of this mess. Out of her eye's corner she noticed a shadow move. Her heart sank as she turned to face it.

Two people tangled up in strings hung alongside her. They made no move or sound, slightly rotating by the wind's fault. There was no mistaking who was the person in front of her.

"Owe—"

She vomited the moment she opened her mouth. The scene was too much for her head, already clouded by pain and vertigo.

Her eyes teared up, as the feeling of vomit passing through her neck hurt it even more. The smell of blood and bile only made her feel more nauseated.

This is a nightmare. That's right! It was a dream all along. This isn't real, this isn't real, this isn't real.

How foolish of her to think this place was anything but a nightmare, what kind of idiot would wish to experience this?

Wish. As her consciousness slowly faded, she remembered what had happened the night before. She gazed outside and did the same thing she had done the night before.

Please, wake me up.

The last thing Linda Thorne did before she died, was make one final wish to the moon.
