Levi stared at the screen with a dead pan expression on his face.

He arrived on this world six years ago and had been serving as a bulter for the daughter of the head of the noble house— Kindlehart Clan ever since.

But before all this, he was just an ordinary human from Earth, juggling six jobs to pay the bills.

One day he got sentimental and decided to visit his dead parent's house.

Along the way he ended up tripping on his childhood toy truck and falling down the stairs. That was how he died.

Murdered by a toy truck.

Now he transmigrated into the world of his favorite novel.

Celestial worthy of the twelve Heavens.

He transmigrated as a background character— the butler of one of the heroine, destined to die as a sacrifice for an artifact.

His part in the novel was so insignificant that the author referred to him as 'the bulter'. He wasn't even given a name.

Levi adjusted his tie as he stared at the mirror, the reflection stared back at him.

Jet black hair framed his face, and beneath black-framed glasses, his lavender eyes reflected back at him— calm, sharp, and unreadable.

Suddenly a rough hand clenched his shoulder tight.

"Stop acting mysterious and go meet the young mistress". The owner to the hand said with a laugh.

Levi face rapidly changed from his previous dead expression to a silly one.

"Good morning dad". He replied joyfully.

The owner of the hand was the father of his predecessor and in extension his father. At least outwardly.

The man had black hair and eyes, and was easily the size of a boar. He let out another hearty laugh.

"Who would have thought my son would be chosen to be the butler to the young mistress? I knew that luck enhancement ritual would come in handy."

Outwardly, he giggled, seemingly proud of his family's rising status as servants of the noble house.

But inwardly.

'Has he no shame?'. Levi thought with annoyance. How could someone be so happy to be a slave to someone else?.

[Cut him some slack, you do know his family have been serving this house for a very long time now]. The system chirped inside his head.

'Cut him some slack? You are even worst! What the hell is a butler system? Do you think I want to remain a slave all my life?'.

["..."]

Levi already soured mood worsened.

'i mean even if this job being the only one you could get, at the very least have the decency to not brag about it'.

His family had been serving the Kindlehart clan since the era of his great great grandfather.

'it's like a generational curse'. A lot of family had managed to rise above the status of mare servants to higher status. But his family refused to produce a single Sorcerer.

For almost six generation now, even his predecessor failed. And if it wasn't for his transmigration he would had remained a normal human.

"Ohh dear I am so proud of you". His mother— Nora said excitedly as she arranged his uniform.

Levi didn't want to tell her that this uniform was, in fact, the visual representation of his chains.

"Yes, mother. I'll make sure to pour tea with the precision of a master swordsman". Levi replied, his voice dripping with sso much fake reverence it could have been bottled and sold.

Nora didn't notice. She just beamed at him like he was about to win the Emparor's tournament.

With his tie fixed and his cuffs straightened, Levi stepped out of the modest servant's quarters into the main courtyard of the Kindlehart estate.

The transition was jarring— on one side, cracked paving stones and old wood; on the other, pristine marble tiles and delicate garden paths lined with purple flame orchids that cost more than his entire Earth apartment.

A gardener, old Mr. Boren, spotted him first. The man was hunched, wiry, and had a beard that could double as a bird's nest.

"Mornin', Young Master Levi!" he greeted cheerfully.

"Young Master?". Levi forced a smile. "Boren, I'm a butler. The only thing I'm master of is serving tea."

Boren laughed like Levi had just told the joke of the century. "Ah, you're too modest!"

Levi kept walking, because if he stood there any longer, the old man might start telling him about his grandchildren.

A pair of maids passed by next, arms loaded with freshly laundered sheets. One of them blushed when she saw him, the other gave a respectful nod.

"Good morning, Sir Levi."

'Sir? Why does everyone keep upgrading my title? I am still a slave in the end.'

[You keep calling the job of a bulter a slave job. You do know a bulter is in fact a respectable job]

'Not to me it isn't'.

He finally reached the courtyard where the young mistress was waiting, sitting under a cherry blossom tree in full bloom.

They she was, one of the heroine of the novel, he had personal rooted for her to be the main female lead.

She was beautiful, in the way a frozen lake is beautiful— still, perfect, and dangerous to step on.

One of the Twelve Heavens.

Her long yellow hair shimmered in the morning light, her golden eyes scanning him with contempt.

"Four-eyes". She said without preamble, her voice a mix of boredom and command. "Fetch me tea."

Levi stared at her for exactly two seconds, sighed inwardly, and reminded himself— again— that she was the heroine of this world.

And she was his ticket to escaping this life of slavery.

Levi gave a perfectly polite bow, the kind that looked respectful but carried just enough stiffness to let himself know it was fake.

"As you wish, young mistress". He replied, his tone silk-smooth but hollow inside.

He turned toward the tea pavilion, passing through the eastern corridor where the air smelled faintly of jasmine incense. The Kindlehart estate's tea room was a shrine to refinement— low lacquered tables, polished shelves holding jars of rare leaves, and a silver kettle shaped like a coiled dragon, steam whispering from its spout.

Levi's hands moved on autopilot.

Scoop the leaves. Heat the water to precisely eighty degrees. Pour in a slow spiral.

[You are very good at this.] The System's voice was casual, almost impressed.

Levi acted like he didn't hear what the system said.

[Still, I detect a spike in your Origin Energy while preparing tea. Fascinating…]

Levi ignored it. The last thing he needed was his so-called Butler System trying to make tea-brewing sound like a cultivation technique.

Once the tea had steeped just enough, he placed the cup on a lacquered tray, its pale green surface shimmering faintly in the light. The aroma was rich, floral, and— if he was being honest— a little too good for the person who had just called him "Four-eyes."

After resisting the temptation to spit in the tea, he crossed into the courtyard again, he found the young mistress exactly as he'd left her— lounging beneath the cherry blossoms, one leg tucked under the other, the petals drifting lazily around her like they'd been paid to enhance her presence.

Levi knelt and set the tray before her.

"Your tea, my lady". He said with perfect butler etiquette.

But inwardly he was raging, the bitch who called herself Cecilia ordered him to always kneel when serving her anything.

Cecilia didn't thank him. She didn't even look at him. She lifted the cup, took a sip, and frowned.

"It's a little bitter."

Levi's polite smile didn't twitch, he did even react, six years in and he was already numb to her words.

But then.
