The thought slightly excited Lucius and brought a smile to his face, if he had access to this ability back on earth, not only would pain be something of the past but it would elevate his focus to extreme levels. Nothing would ever be able to distract him again, perfect for an assassin like him.
"Having fun?" a voice suddenly said from behind Lucius, instantly putting him on guard as he quickly turned around, ready to face whatever it was that had brought him here.
"Who are you!?Why did you bring me here!?" Lucius asked, completely on guard and seconds away from entering into his blank state. If this creature could bring him into what is most likely a pocket dimension then he could do much more, Lucius was ready if the goal of this creature was to torture him.
"Chill bro, I actually saved you, if I didn't, you would have likely turned into a voidborne by now. Not many can stay that long in the void without either being erased from existence or turning into a voidborne."
"But it seems to me you were either extremely lucky to not be instantly erased upon entering the void or your soul is special." Nemur said
"My name is Nemur by the way."
Ignoring Nemur's declaration of his name, Lucius continued firing questions, "What do you mean, what's so special about my soul? And what's a voidborne?" Lucius asked, curious, but still completely on guard.
"I meant exactly what I said, I don't know, a voidborne is anything that exists that becomes completely corrupted by the void, usually extremely powerful."
'So I was lucky then' Lucius thought
"But ignoring all of that depressing 'I could have turned into a voidborne' shit."
"You're actually pretty talented, you not only created a technique that semi-protects you from the void, but you withstood being in eternal darkness by yourself for an entire year." Nemur said
" I don't think you realise how impressive that is as not even some gods can manage that or even come close to a feat like that."
"Strength doesn't always equal willpower."
"And that's why I'm going to give you a chance."
"A chance?" Lucius suddenly said, his tone questioning
"A chance for what?"
"A chance to become something more than just a mere mortal, usually this is where you would be given the option to wish for three things, even more if you spent the majority of your life doing good deeds." Nemur explained.
"But I wont get any wishes, is what you're saying." Lucius said, a light smile on his face
"Exactly, you weren't exactly a saint in your past life." Nemur chuckled
"However"
"You still get something...see that wheel over there?" Nemur asked
"Yeah, I see it " Lucius replied
"This is the wheel of fate." Nemur said, suddenly appearing beside the wheel of fate
"It is not of my creation nor do I know who created it, I only know that it was used by some primordial gods to determine the fate of some of the most evil beings in existence."
"However it was tampered with by millions of gods and other primordial gods over the eons, now, what it does is grant one single thing."
"One single thing as in…..anything?" Lucius asked, slightly excited but cautious nonetheless
"Anything, and I mean that literally, but do keep in mind that 'anything' doesn't just mean anything that is good, it also means every and any negative thing that has ever existed. So you could just die by using this, or you could suffer a fate worse than death that would make your time in the void feel like child's play." Nemur said, an eerie smile slowly crawling up his face
" Oh you have to be the one to spin it by the way." Nemur stated casually as if his previous words were not a big deal.
Hearing everything Nemur had to say forced Lucius to think, if the wheel of fate could land on something that's even worse than his time in the void then he didn't know what he would do, but he also wouldn't just stay here forever or peacefully accept death when he knew there was a chance of living, however small that chance may be.
Walking slowly, Lucius made his way over to the wheel, examining it even more as he came closer towards it. The wheel was enormous, very very very big, however even though it was enormous, Lucius doubted this could grant nearly anything in existence, based on its size.
However he refrained from using any of his logic on cosmic forces such as this and simply…..spun the wheel
The wheel spun with a slow, deliberate momentum as if it had a mind of its own, the unknown symbols suddenly being comprehensible as it spun.
Nemur watched with an inscrutable expression, almost as if he were savoring the moment, his amusement barely contained. "This is where it gets interesting," he said, his voice excited.
Lucius made up his mind to use whatever positive thing it landed on to its utmost limit, he wouldn't judge it based on its surface level usefulness because he knew, everyone and everything has something special about them, however minor it may be.
As the wheel began to slow, Lucius leaned closer, straining to see the outcome, but it was as if the wheel of fate had a mind of its own because as soon as Lucius leaned closer the words on the wheel suddenly turned incomprehensible once more.
'What!?" Lucius thought
'Is it alive!? Why is it doing this?'
Lucius sighed in annoyance and frustration as he backed away and in an instant the words turned back comprehensible but hard to see.
The wheel slowed further, words blurring together as it came to a halt on two dark red words that gave off an evil and malevolent aura.
"Infernal Rebirth" Nemur suddenly said
"You're once again, very lucky. If you had gotten demon transformation that would have been bad since it binds you to the bloodline of any of the princes of hell, this would be a good thing initially but if you managed to survive and get stronger, you would find that any demon stronger than you, who is of the same bloodline would have a very strong influence over you, to the point of mind controlling."
"You would have been a bird whose wings were clipped and then thrown in a cage, a most pitiful and unfortunate fate." Nemur continued
Lucius felt a rush of mixed emotions, mostly excitement. According to Nemur ,Infernal Rebirth wasn't just a mere transformation, it promised the liberation he had longed for. He didn't want to be a pawn in anyone's game, especially not one among demons who he knew absolutely nothing about. This rebirth could mean power, control over his own destiny.
"Accepting the Infernal Rebirth will fundamentally change you, and not just a mere increase in power and different colour skin" Nemur explained
"Demons from hell are very interesting and unique creatures, they don't have a soul and they are not alive."
"What does that mean exactly?" Lucius asked, concerned
"Anything that is alive contains lifeforce and anything that is dead contains necro force. necro force is usually found in undead and powerful necromancers."
"Demons are instead moulded by the very dimension they are born in by a type of essence called Infernal essence." Nemur continued
"So by accepting this, you will lose your soul…..the difference is that you will be stronger due to your soul being used as basically an additional ingredient to turning you into a demon. You won't lose any quality of your soul, and your special void touched soul would make for something quite unique and interesting being born."
"So, Lucius, do you accept Infernal Rebirth." Nemur asked with a knowing smile on his face.
"Remember, there is no going back from this once you say yes, so choose very wisely."
Hearing Nemur's words Lucius stopped to think once again, he didn't want to rush into anything even if it seemed very good on the surface, so Lucius sought to know what his other options were.
"What would happen to me if I were to refuse this?" Lucius asked
"Oh you can't, whatever fate the wheel of fate lands on for you or anybody else, it is the fate that they shall live with." Nemur replied.
'Good to know' Lucius thought
"I accept." Lucius said.
As soon as those words left Lucius's mouth, a terrible feeling came over him. Gradually, the feeling started to get worse and worse until Lucius felt like he was losing something important to him, something precious. The light in his eyes started to get dim and his body cold as he realised that this must be what it felt like to lose your soul, he quickly thought to activate mental blankness but decided to trust the process.
This continued for five more minutes until Lucius fainted.
"I wish you the best of luck in your new life, Lucius." Nemur said, a smile on his face.
"Here's a gift from me to you, not exactly a powerup, but it should prove useful nonetheless."
A small white orb of light appeared in the palm of Nemur's hands as it slowly floated toward the unconscious form of Lucius. It then landed on his body and slowly seeped through his body, fusing with him.
Following that, Lucius's body started to break down into small red orbs of light until suddenly, he just disappeared.
…
In a pitch black, scorching wet place, a swirling mass of dark red energy was beginning to form little by little. Eventually as time passed, this dark red energy then began to form into a small humanoid shape, about 1.2 meters tall. The mass of dark red energy then started to gain physical characteristics as blood vessels and organs formed along with strong and powerful bones and muscles.
Dark red skin then formed to cover all of this up as the body was nearing its completion. Two tiny horns grew out from his forehead, and a nose and mouth formed. The finishing touch were the eyes as the sclera of this creature started to form, showing that it was pitch black.
The pupil then started to form as well, only that the pupil was also, pitch black. The gender of the creature also started to form, showcasing that it was male, after this last addition the now finished body started to rise up as if being pulled by someone or something.
