Chapter 9 - Chapter Nine

Chartreuse…Monday…

I looked at Daphne as Evan left. I didn't get a single word from their conversation. I was wondering if they were in a relationship now.

"What's up with Evan?" I asked.

"We are getting married but he doesn't seem to like it. I just want to make him love me." Daphne said "Don't worry yourself much. Let's go."

When Sheridan and Jinx saw me, they both rushed to hug me.

"Goodness, Chart. You made us worried." Jinx panicked, checking my body for any injuries.

"I am fine guys. I missed you both by the way. The school clinic only has the ceiling to enjoy." I said and they laughed.

"You shouldn't do that again, Chart. What happened? How did you cope before you were found?" Sheridan questioned like a mother who was about to scold her child.

"I can't remember a thing…"

"Aah, that's true. I am sorry." She apologized.

"Your aura is different, Chartreuse." Jinx said.

"Really?" I asked. I totally expected this as I was pre-informed by Mr. Sean and Mr. Daryn.

"Yeah, you do." Sheridan nodded.

"I don't feel different."

"Chart…ooh, you're with your friends." I turned around and my eyes met the hazel ones of Daphne.

"Daphne?" Sheridan raised a brow "Since when did the both of you become friends?"

"We are just close acquaintances. I was around her during her times at the clinic so I have gotten used to caring for her." Daphne said smoothly.

Of course, Sheridan and most especially Jinx did not buy it but they didn't know what else to probably think of so they just shrugged it off.

We were chatting since it was recess. Sheridan had Maths next while Jinx and I had History. I noticed Evan walked towards his locker with his head down and opened it. He had been acting wierd and I was confused on what to think. Was he sick? I even tried to eavesdrop on his conversation with Daphne but I didn't get a thing and I got caught.

"Excuse me." Daphne said and walked towards Evan. She touched his back, saying some words I could barely hear due to the noise in the hall.

"Is it just me or is Daphne closer to Evan now than she was before?" Jinx asked.

"Yeah, I noticed that too. So the fact that they are betrothed isn't a lie after all." Sheridan sighed "And I was looking forward to a gay couple."

"You are still about this?" Jinx frowned.

"I am never gonna stop."

I smiled. Tomorrow was Sheridan's birthday. I had to discuss with the Jinx about it soon and also find out if tonight would be the night of the full moon.

"Evan." I whipped my head to the side only to find Daphne walking swiftly behind the fast striding Evan. Did something happen?

"Are they in a relationship or something?" Sheridan frowned and we watched them step out of the building.

"Maybe they are." I said due to what I heard from Daphne earlier "I am famished. Let's go to the Cafeteria."

"Today is a good day. You don't feel like spending time at the library?" Jinx asked.

"Then end up reading the wrong topic and staying hungry? Not a chance." I said and we walked past Beverly. She gave me a smirk and a flash memory came by but I didn't get a clear view and ended up having a migraine.

I reached out for the closest support and my hand landed on a locker.

"Are you alright?" I heard a distant voice that sounded like Sheridan's but I didn't get a chance to reply. I took notice of a poster that said Sandra was missing.

Another flash memory came by but this time, a familiar scream erupted in my head and that startled me enough to make me hit the ground. A painful migraine shot through my head.

'Beverly! That bitch!" Someone kept yelling in my head and it seemed like the person was trying to destroy my brain cells. The voice sounded so familiar.

"Chartreuse!" A distant voice yelled out making me cringe. Why was I so sensitive to noise now? Even my eye sight was sharper.

The bell rang and I cringed again. The noise increased and it turns out I was surrounded by students.

'She is still sick from that attack.'

'Take her to the school clinic.'

I struggled to stand and I ran out of the place and out of the school building. My head was banging and I couldn't handle it anymore.

I had to see Dr. Fredrick or Mr. Sean. They would definitely have a suitable explanation for this sudden oversensitivity.

Was it the potions that was doing this?

I heard cracking but after looking around, I realized that the cracking sounds were coming from me; my hands to be specific.

"Aah." I let out a gaspy scream that I could only hear. My hands were getting thinner and longer.

My limbs were reshaping.

I ran. I struggled to run.

Where was Daphne when I needed her? I couldn't understand this new change and I wasn't sure if I was ready for it either.

The cracking continued and I soon fell down. My legs were not the same anymore.

"Chartreuse!!"

Someone yelled but I couldn't get up to see who but I hoped it wouldn't be Sheridan and Jinx because I didn't want to explain anything to them…at least not yet.

Thankfully, it wasn't them. It was Mr. Sean and Mr. Daryn.

"This is bad…" I heard one of them say but I couldn't know who with the painful reshaping going on.

"Let's get her out of here."

They took me to the school clinic which was already close by.

I was feeling weak already after the reshaping. My bones felt lighter as my soul and I couldn't even lift a finger.

Nurse Mila attended to me immediately. She checked my vitals and told me to rest. I don't know what she told Mr. Sean and Mr. Daryn but when they came in, Daphne was behind them.

"Oh my." Daphne covered her mouth. Did I look that bad? I was starting to be afraid "I am so sorry for not being around you at this moment."

I nodded; "It's fine. No one expected this to happen."

"Well, she should have stayed beside you…at all times as we said." Mr. Sean frowned.

Daphne looked at him, her hazel eyes having a faint glow of yellow; "So now this is all my fault. You don't expect me to suddenly have the ability to duplicate. I am running double duty here and I am not even gaining anything from it."

Double duty?

"Well she's right, Sean. She is trying to help two persons at a time." Mr. Daryn said.

"What are you guys talking about?" I mumbled.

"Nothing you should worry about." She sighed "But what happened. Your thinner now and your limbs are now elongated."

I slowly raised up my hand and she wasn't wrong. My fingers were thinner and longer than normal.

"I don't know. I was just heading to the cafeteria with Sheridan and Jinx. Beverly passed by and smirked at me. I had a flash memory which gave me a migraine but I couldn't get a glimpse of anything. I laid on a locker for support due to the migraine that seemed to be affecting my senses. I took notice of a poster that said Sandra was missing and another flash memory came. One minute my senses are retarding in activity and the next minute I am hearing everyone's heartbeat. Some one was yelling in my head with a murder intent towards Beverly. I could almost recognize the voice but I couldn't concentrate because the yelling was giving me a serious migraine. I had to run out from the building because I wasn't feeling the same anymore but the next minute, I am hearing cracking coming from me."

Daphne snapped her fingers.

"Bam!!! We should have thought about this. Without you remembering anything, you already made mention on the culprits." Daphne screeched but I wasn't understanding.

Who was she talking about?
