Bluemars has two main characters:
Wolf - A young boy with ADHD
and
Joe - A boy who is unable to walk and uses a wheelchair
Plot One.
The story begins with Wolf pushing Joe through the miniature city they inhabit on Mars. Their task is to awaken everyone; this is their assigned job. All the residents there have various disorders. They were sent to Mars from Earth, so this significant responsibility entrusted to them by Earth is a momentous occasion.
Wolf's spacesuit is the color created by mixing green and blue, a shade I can't quite recall (cyan).
Joe's suit is black.
Joe is a motivator, someone who uplifts everyone's spirits.
And Wolf is a helper, always assisting others.
After Wolf finishes pushing Joe, his work for now is complete.
Joe starts enthusiastically talking about their importance and how happy he is that everyone has jobs to do. He feels that this is a way for them all to feel equal. Wolf simply states that they don't need jobs to prove their worth; their inherent value as humans is what matters. Joe agrees, acknowledging Wolf's point. Wolf then receives a call, and Joe is left alone in his room. He sits there quietly, muttering under his breath, "We're not equal." The scene shifts to Wolf repeatedly helping various people. Then it cuts back to Joe struggling to force himself to walk, but he fails, leaving him feeling defeated. Wolf is cleaning the glass roof when suddenly a large shadow looms above them. Everyone looks up to see an enormous spaceship. Before they can react, explosions erupt – boom, boom, boom – they are under attack.
Homes are being destroyed. Wolf is in shock as alien figures descend and begin shooting everyone dead. Joe, still in his room, is unaware of the chaos unfolding. Wolf tries to get up and run to the armory, but the weapon he grabs turns out to be a fake. He picks up others one by one, realizing they are all useless props. The scene cuts back and forth between people being killed and Wolf examining the fake weapons. Joe finally hears the commotion and attempts to escape. The scene shifts to Wolf discarding the fake weapons, frustration evident. He exclaims, "Forget it, I'll make my own!" and quickly fabricates a makeshift weapon. He ventures out to fight, holding his own surprisingly well for a minute before being shot down. Joe hears his door burst open and calls out, "Wolf?" Only to see an alien standing there, who then shoots him in the chest. Joe cries out in agony, looking down to see a vibrant, parasitic creature burrowing into his chest.
Joe's screams intensify as the alien watches, impassively, as the parasite takes control of Joe's body. The color of Joe's eyes flickers rapidly. The scene cuts to Wolf, his body severely damaged, as he hears a voice, "HEY! LISTEN TO ME! I CAN FIX YOU! I'M THE CITY'S AI SYSTEM. YOU JUST NEED TO GET TO THE MAIN POWER ROOM." Wolf, incredulous, replies, "Are you joking? MY legs have been shot off!" "That doesn't matter! What's crucial is you get in here!" Wolf protests that he can't and won't. Dead bodies surround him; there seems to be nothing they can do. "Joe is still alive! Come on, use the bodies as cover, move beneath them, and make sure you aren't seen. I can enhance your strength and agility, enough to even defend this town. Do you WANT everyone to die?" "No." Wolf begins to move.
The scene shifts to Joe, his life flashing before his eyes. "Why is this happening to me? Here I am again, useless, a burden to everyone." He feels himself sinking deeper into the blinding emptiness of his mind.
The scene returns to Wolf, cautiously moving and trying to remain undetected. He advances then hides, ensuring he stays out of sight. Aliens appear, and Wolf conceals himself beneath the fallen bodies. The aliens fire at the corpses as a precaution. A shot grazes Wolf's arm, but he stifles any sound. The alien glances back then continues on. The scene cuts to Joe falling further into the parasite's influence, his body visibly changing. He grows larger and taller, now standing. Within his mind, the massive parasite looms beside him, pulling him deeper. Then, a memory of Wolf flashes through his mind, and the phrase "we're all equal" resonates. The parasite attempts to fully seize control, but Joe resists, declaring, "No, I won't let my body be used like this!" and begins to fight the parasite within his mind. The scene cuts to Wolf reaching the power room, where robotic arms emerge from nowhere, lifting him up. "This will hurt," the AI states as the robotic arms begin to tear him apart. Wolf blacks out. The scene shifts to Joe, now fully transformed, towering at 7 ft tall. He hangs his head and screams. It cuts back to Wolf waking up mid-surgery, a large sun core now embedded in his chest. He is still in immense pain and screams, the sound echoing through the walls. Wolf loses consciousness again, and suddenly, all power in the city cuts out.
Joe falls silent. The alien controlling him believes it has succeeded, but then it looks up and sees glowing green eyes staring down at it. The scene cuts to outside the room, and a loud crunch is heard. It then cuts to aliens rushing towards Wolf's room, weapons raised. Boom! The door is ripped off its hinges, flying through the air and striking three of the aliens. They peer into the dark room, seeing only piercing blue eyes in the gloom, accompanied by a mechanical whirring sound. The AI's childlike voice announces, "UPDATE COMPLETED."
The scene cuts back to Joe, still quiet, but his feet are visible as he takes tentative, baby-like steps, even stumbling. Gradually, his steps become more confident and faster, and then laughter begins to erupt from him. "Hahaha! I can! Haha! I can! Ahahahahahahaha! I can! Hahahaahhahaha! I CAN WALK!!!" The scene shifts to him running down the building at increasing speed. It cuts to an alien about to kill a girl when a sound of laughter and running approaches. Before the alien can react, BOOM! It is sent flying by a single punch. The girl looks up, startled, at a towering 7ft figure with glowing green eyes looking down at her (her suit has a small light). He lowers himself to her level, his face now illuminated by her suit's light. He offers a wide, albeit unsettling, smile, and she recognizes his voice. "JOE?"
Joe reassures her, "Don't worry, it's me. That stupid parasite could never fully control me. I won't allow my body to harm any of our people." He gently picks her up and leaps seven stories, setting her down safely. "I'll take care of them. Hide, and I'll find Wolf."
The scene cuts to Wolf as he begins to walk out. Aliens immediately open fire, and in the red glow of their weapons, Wolf is now visible in a large megasuit, striding through the gunfire unscathed. The core in his chest is spinning. Wolf now stands 12 feet tall, mostly robotic except for his head, which is encased in a dome (reminiscent of the ice-powered Batman villain's headgear). The dome is the same color as his megasuit. The scene shifts to Wolf's perspective, where the aliens appear as harmless cartoon figures. The AI, now integrated with him, comments, "This is so you don't have a HARD TIME KILLING them." "Don't worry, I won't," Wolf replies, transitioning from walking to running towards the aliens.
A fierce battle ensues, the scene alternating between Wolf and Joe fighting.
Wolf is focused and determined, relentlessly striking back, ensuring he incapacitates all the aliens. The AI asks, "Are you sure you know how to shoot?" "Yes, I've played games like this before." "This is not a game." "Shut up, AI girl, and let me work." "It's AI GIRL." "I don't have time for this!" The scene then cuts to Joe fighting with unrestrained ferocity, laughing maniacally as he effortlessly manhandles the aliens, absorbing their attacks and healing rapidly. He throws them around, beating them almost too brutally. He rescues survivors, placing them aside before rejoining the fray. Wolf, being so immense, allows the remaining aliens to stand before him, his size providing cover for others.
However, Joe's fighting style becomes increasingly violent and reckless, even with those he rescues, whom he roughly throws aside. As Joe fights, he begins to understand the aliens' language. He grabs one by the neck, lifting it up, and demands, "WHO SENT YOU??" It replies, "HUMANS."
Joe doesn't believe it and slams the alien down with such force that it dies instantly. Joe recoils in shock, his eyes momentarily flashing yellow before returning to green. "LIAR!" HE GRABS ANOTHER ONE. "WHO SENT YOU!!" "HUMANS! HUMANS! THEY SAID KILL THEM! KILL THEM ALL! WE DON'T NEED USELESS TRASH LIKE THEM!" JOE HURLS HIM AWAY WITH AN ASTONISHINGLY POWERFUL PUNCH, SENDING HIM CRASHING INTO A WALL. JOE APPROACHES THE FALLEN ALIEN. "I'LL ASK YOU ONE MORE TIME. WHO the fuck sent you?" He lifts it up. "HUMANS." BOOM! HIS PUNCH GOES STRAIGHT THROUGH ITS HEAD. HE LOOKS DOWN AT THE HEADLESS BODY, THEN UP. HIS EYES ARE NOW YELLOW. "LIAR."
That alien was the last one. The Martian survivors approach Joe cautiously. He remains in the darkened room where he punched through the alien, unseen. "JOE?" BRIGHT YELLOW EYES GLOW IN THE DARKNESS. JOE EMERGES, NOW 9 FT TALL. He doesn't even glance at them, instead walking around, picking up the dead aliens to check if any are still alive, but they are all deceased. "Joe?" "WHAT!?"
The Martians explain, "Joe, we need to send a message to Earth's humans, warning them that aliens will attack them next." "Why the fuck would I do that? They're the ones who sent them in the first place!" "No, no, it can't be." "What the fuck do you mean it can't be? They just told me this to my face!" "The aliens could be lying." "Nobody lies when facing death! Why are you defending them?" His eyes flash yellow, then red, then back to yellow in rapid succession. "Why the fuck should we help the people who screwed us over, who look at us like trash? Why are you taking their side?" He shoves a Martian. "But maybe..." "What the fuck do you mean maybe!!?" Joe? Joe turns to see Wolf has arrived with more Martian survivors behind him.
Joe's eyes flicker to green for a moment before returning to their enraged state. He walks towards Wolf, intending to explain what happened, but Wolf's suit immediately adopts a defensive posture. "Hey! What are you doing? This is my friend Joe!" "No, it's not. It's a human controlled by a parasite." Joe recoils for a moment. "What are you doing, Wolf? I can see you got a big upgrade." He resumes walking towards Wolf. "I need to tell you something." Then, without warning, the suit attacks, sending Joe flying into a nearby building.
Joe lies against the wall, observing the fearful gazes of the Martians. He clutches his head. "They fear me. They're looking down on me. You… you fucking traitor, Wolf! I thought we were best friends! I thought you were on my side! I thought you saw us all as equal! I hate humans! I hate lies! I hate you, Wolf!" The scene cuts to him lowering his hands, then focuses on his face, his eyes now blood red, as he utters the chilling words, "I hate that I now have to kill my best friend."
Joe charges at Wolf. Wolf transitions from a defensive stance to no guard at all. "[What are you doing? Say AI fight! We need to defend!]" "No, I can't hurt my friend." Joe attacks Wolf, who doesn't retaliate, but Joe interprets this as Wolf looking down on him. "(Your friend is gone)." "No, he's not." Wolf tries to reason with Joe, but Joe is consumed by rage. The girl attempts to intervene, but Joe swats her away effortlessly. Wolf witnesses this and falls silent. "Damn it all… so you're truly lost. I guess… I have to put my friend down."
Wolf assumes a defensive stance once more and remains quiet. Then, they both charge at each other, and the true battle begins. Blows are exchanged, shaking the surroundings. Wolf can no longer discern Joe's features; in his augmented vision, Joe now resembles one of the cartoonish aliens. Wolf's mind races back to their shared past, their friendship, the stark contrast to their current reality. The fight continues, with Wolf gaining the upper hand. Looking up at Wolf, who stands atop a ruined building, Joe shouts, "You're looking down on me, you bastard! I'll bring you down to my level!" He leaps upwards. They trade blows again. Wolf's dome shatters. They plummet, face to face. Wolf's expression is one of profound sadness, while Joe's is contorted with fury. Just as Joe throws a punch, everything goes white. It shows Joe being struck by Wolf, then Wolf pushing him away, releasing him. Joe spins backwards and faces Wolf, a look of joy on his face as he tumbles away. But Wolf's face is etched with sorrow. He looks down and whispers, "I'M SORRY, BROTHER!" THEN IT CUTS BACK TO REALITY, SHOWING JOE SCREAMING IN ANGUISH AS WOLF FIRES A SUNCORE beam at him, SENDING HIM HURTLING INTO SPACE. "LETTING HIM GO, JUST LIKE IN THEIR FLASHBACK, HIM PUSHING HIS BEST FRIEND AWAY FOR GOOD THIS TIME." JOE'S FACE IS A MASK OF RAGE AS HE IS PROPELLED INTO THE VASTNESS OF SPACE, WHILE WOLF WATCHES HIM DISAPPEAR, HIS OWN FACE A PICTURE OF HEARTBREAK.
A few minutes pass as everyone slowly picks themselves up. Wolf simply stands there, silent. The AI girl chatters incessantly, but he doesn't listen, his gaze fixed on the heavens. The girl approaches him. "What do we do now? The city is without power, and our food supplies are dwindling."
"We're going back to Earth. We need to tell them what happened. This is the only way. It's time to say goodbye to our home, BLUEMARS.
GATHER EVERYONE! IT'S TIME TO RETURN TO EARTH. OUR PLANET IS IN DANGER, AND WE NEED TO WARN THEM BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE! LET'S MOVE!"
