Chapter 25 - You are hated

The night was deep.

In the Butterfly Mansion's operating room, it was eerily quiet. A young girl lay on the bed, a Demon Slayer Corps swordsman. While fighting a demon, her legs had been brutally broken, bones shattered and piercing into her flesh.

"I won't die, will I?"

The girl cried inconsolably, her intense pain causing her to wail continuously. She hadn't known that demon was so strong!

"Don't worry, I will save you!"

Kamihara Tetsuya said softly, putting on sterile gloves and beginning the surgery. A bloody light flashed in his eyes as he used his Sharingan to observe the bone fragments.

The Sharingan only appeared for 0.1 seconds, so it was impossible for the ordinary people around him to notice. Even if they did, they would think it was their imagination.

The girl was deeply asleep due to the anesthetic and did not witness this shocking scene.

The surgical knife danced in Kamihara Tetsuya's hand like a cute, moving fairy. With every cut, it precisely picked out bone fragments.

The nurses assisting him looked dazed. He was too amazing. They were certain that even the most skilled doctor in the Butterfly Mansion couldn't compare to Kamihara Tetsuya.

And this young man had only arrived at the Butterfly Mansion half a month ago. Comparing oneself to others was infuriating.

Three hours later, the surgery ended.

The sleeping girl was pushed out on the bed.

Kamihara Tetsuya took off his bloody gloves, washed and disinfected his hands, and wiped the sweat from his forehead.

The nurses looked at Kamihara Tetsuya with admiration. Other doctors had suggested amputation, but only Kamihara Tetsuya believed the girl's legs could be saved.

And he succeeded.

After evaluation, the girl, through later recovery, would definitely be able to walk normally, though she wouldn't be as agile as before.

"Well done, Tetsuya!"

An old doctor patted Kamihara Tetsuya's shoulder, shedding tears of relief. With such an excellent successor, he could rest in peace even in death.

Kamihara Tetsuya humbly replied, "It's all thanks to Teacher's good teaching."

The old doctor shook his head. Hard work determined the lower limit, talent determined the upper limit. Some people were destined to be different.

Kamihara Tetsuya, worried that the other person might bring up the matter of his eyes flashing during the surgery, decisively changed the subject, feigning curiosity: "What kind of demon was it that caused such severe injuries to the swordsmen?"

The old doctor and nurses exchanged glances, their faces all showing confusion.

After a brief silence, a girl replied, "I don't know, but I heard that Water Pillar-sama was also injured."

As soon as this girl mentioned the Water Pillar, the topic immediately shifted, and the girls began chattering excitedly.

"Water Pillar-sama, could it be?"

"That's right, it's that one!"

"That person is so scary. I wanted to help him treat his wound, and he said, 'No need, I'm not like them!'"

"He seems so arrogant. I really don't want to get close to such a haughty person!"

"Sure enough, not every Pillar is as gentle as Kanae-sama, boo hoo hoo!"

Hearing the girls' complaints, Kamihara Tetsuya already knew who it was: Water Pillar Giyu Tomioka!

[Ding!]

[Death-Seeking Mission Issued!]

[Mission Name: The Disliked Person!]

[Mission Content: Water Pillar Giyu Tomioka is slow to perceive external emotions and has never realized he is disliked. It is necessary to make him realize this!]

[Reward: Based on Giyu Tomioka's perception level, receive a Bronze-tier ~ Gold-tier Treasure Chest!]

A system panel popped up in front of Kamihara Tetsuya, and he cursed the dog system in his heart. Was it treating him like an ox? He hadn't even completed the mission of joining the Demon Slayer Corps yet.

Fortunately, this mission was much simpler.

Kamihara Tetsuya turned and left the operating room, entering the ward, and indeed saw a familiar figure.

It was a handsome young man with long black hair, sea-blue eyes, wearing a yellow-green tortoise-shell patterned haori. He rarely smiled, giving off a cold, aloof feeling that kept people at a distance.

Refusing the nurses' help, Giyu Tomioka treated his wound himself.

However, his injury was much lighter than the others, just a small cut on his forearm.

Giyu Tomioka poured alcohol on the wound to disinfect it, but even the intense pain couldn't make that stoic face show any change.

Then he used a bandage to wrap his forearm, using his other hand and teeth to tie the knot, like a lonely wolf licking its wounds by itself in the snow.

Kamihara Tetsuya's gaze shifted. Giyu Tomioka was younger than when he appeared in the original timeline, and his strength hadn't yet reached its peak, so getting injured was normal.

The sharp Giyu Tomioka noticed Kamihara Tetsuya entering the room immediately.

Kamihara Tetsuya greeted him: "Hello, I'm the intern doctor here, Kamihara Tetsuya."

Giyu Tomioka nodded.

Kamihara Tetsuya said, "You seem to be disliked by our nurses here. What did you do?"

Giyu Tomioka's face showed a hint of confusion. He didn't remember doing anything to make people dislike him. He said seriously, "I am not disliked!"

"Come with me!"

Kamihara Tetsuya said, turning and walking out of the ward.

Giyu Tomioka followed closely, as he was very concerned about this matter.

The two arrived at the previous operating room, hiding in the corner to eavesdrop.

The girls' criticism session hadn't ended, and with Kamihara Tetsuya and the old doctor gone, they became even more fervent, believing they were among themselves.

Giyu Tomioka had received treatment at the Butterfly Mansion quite a few times, and some older girls began to dig up old grudges.

They brought up past "Giyuu-style remarks."

Hearing those voices, Giyu Tomioka's expression became blank. At this moment, his world seemed to collapse.

He was disliked!

As for the phrase "No need, I'm not like them," he had meant that his injuries weren't that serious, and they should prioritize treating the severely wounded.

Seeing Giyu Tomioka standing there in a daze, Kamihara Tetsuya whispered, "Are you still alive?"

Giyu Tomioka snapped back to reality, his stiff face showing confusion. What should he do?

"If you don't change the way you speak, more people will dislike you," Kamihara Tetsuya said.

Giyu Tomioka abruptly turned his head to look at Kamihara Tetsuya. This person could understand what he was trying to express. He felt as if he had grasped the last straw of hope.

In Giyu Tomioka's eyes, Kamihara Tetsuya even saw a hint of tears.

Giyu Tomioka said, "You really are a good person!"

Kamihara Tetsuya: "…"

Since Giyu Tomioka had already realized, Kamihara Tetsuya quickly took him back to the ward. Eavesdropping was not a good thing; getting caught would be social death.

Giyu Tomioka lay on the bed with lifeless eyes. Unlike others, he suffered from emotional trauma.

Seeing Giyu Tomioka fall into a state of self-isolation, Kamihara Tetsuya did not continue to press the issue. This kind of thing had to be gradual. He subtly glanced at the clock.

There was still an hour until dawn. It was time to go.

Kamihara Tetsuya arrived at the Butterfly Mansion's entrance. "Shinobu-Miss, I'm heading back now."

Kochou Shinobu smiled, "You worked hard today."

Both in personality and ability, Kamihara Tetsuya could be called excellent.

Not just her, but everyone else in the Butterfly Mansion also had a very high opinion of Kamihara Tetsuya.

Unfortunately, he seemed very busy, only able to come to the Butterfly Mansion at night to study and treat patients.

Kanao Tsuyuri stood at the entrance, her gaze fixed on Kamihara Tetsuya's receding figure until he finally disappeared into the night.

Kochou Shinobu asked, "Kanao, what's wrong?"

Kanao Tsuyuri's smile remained, and she didn't answer. Since it was a question, not a command...

"Ding!"

Kanao Tsuyuri took out a copper coin, tossed it upwards, and it landed in her palm, face up.

"Demons only appear at night."]}```
