Chapter 156 - Chapter 150: The Reason Why Odin Gave Up the Gem

He used his full power, transforming into yellow crystal shackles to bind the incoming Mangog.

Unable to break free, it still roared furiously: "Mangog is the natural enemy of gods! As long as there's one god in the Universe abusing power, Mangog will never disappear!"

Looking at it, Ron was troubled by how to deal with Mangog, this monster born from hatred.

"Ron, did you defeat this monster called Mangog?"

On the cracked Planet, molten core lava erupted and surged. Seeing the battle subside, Thor and Audreyf flew over, looking at the battlefield in shock.

Hearing Mangog's earlier roar, they already knew its name and why it attacked Asgard.

Thor's face was bitter; speaking of which, this was another disaster left behind by his father.

"Defeating it isn't hard, but killing it isn't easy."

He shook his head slightly.

Mangog is the ultimate judgment of the gods; even in the comics, it would return again and again after being killed, causing continuous trouble and leading to the deaths of gods.

It was once destroyed in a mutual annihilation by the female Thor, who had cancer, using the chains that bound the giant wolf Fenrir, tying Thor's Hammer to it and throwing it into the Sun.

It was thought that it would be burned to death and disappear from the World, but it reappeared not long after, becoming a Hammer God form of energy life.

Finally, the Skyfather Odin in the comics sacrificed himself, passing his divine power to Thor, who had awakened Gaia's divine power. Combining their divine powers, they heated the Nida Vellir furnace in the Dwarf Kingdom, where Thor's Hammer was forged, and eliminated it again.

"But whether it was truly eliminated is still unknown. From Mangog's setting, it could reappear at any time."

"Forget it, let's try to kill it once first."

Ron couldn't think of a way to completely kill Mangog.

This was also the reason he pursued the power of life.

Even if defeated, enemies couldn't do anything to you and could return again and again.

"Defeating it isn't hard?"

Hearing this, Audreyf recalled how Mangog's every attack had made the Planet tremble, and a shocked and complex expression appeared on her beautiful face.

Only Ron could say such a thing; if it were her and Thor, they would probably have been killed by Mangog in one blow.

"Nidavellir, remember it's in the middle layer of the World Tree."

Stretching out his palm, Ron closed his eyes and sensed, manipulating the power of fear to open a wormhole that traversed the Nine Realms.

In the gigantic tree-like wormhole system, the Dwarf Kingdom Nidavellir was located in the middle.

Whoosh!

A wormhole tunnel opened.

"Ron, are you going to Nidavellir?" She heard his murmur and asked.

"I want to use the Dwarves' forging furnace to kill it."

Unlike Hela, he had to continuously provide power to restrain Mangog; Mangog could not be imprisoned by him.

In addition, he had another purpose for going to the Dwarf's Planet.

"We'll go with you."

Thor and Audreyf followed Ron through the tunnel and arrived at the Dwarf Kingdom, Nidavellir.

"This is a kingdom full of mountain ranges and mines. The Dwarf race, who love drinking and even more love forging weapons, live here. They forge weapons for us, and we are responsible for protecting them."

The three looked at the grey Planet below, whose land surface was undulating with mountains, as Thor introduced.

"If Ron, you want to use the Dwarves' neutron star furnace, we need to go there."

He pointed upwards.

In the distance, a huge metal ring, over ten miles in size, floated in space, similar to a Dyson Sphere device, which is an artificial celestial body used to envelop a star or other energy body to collect energy.

Clank! Clank!

Ron dragged a long chain, at the end of which was Mangog, bound by shackles with even its mouth covered, and arrived at the ring with the two of them.

Clang, clang, clang!

The ring was filled with a hot aura. Hundreds of Dwarves were constantly forging weapons on the ring; the most excellent craftsmen in the Dwarf Kingdom gathered here.

However, though called Dwarves, each was four or five meters tall, with short, thick limbs and huge heads, their body proportions merely resembling Dwarves.

The Dwarves loved and were obsessed with forging. After cheering twice to welcome the Asgardians who protected them, they continued to immerse themselves in forging.

"Thor, it's good to see you.

Are the weapons we forged for you still good?" Only the stern Dwarf King Eitri walked up, his voice muffled.

"They're good, but unfortunately, I can't unleash their full power yet." Thor glanced at the Stormbreaker in his hand, a hint of regret. If Ron hadn't opened the wormhole earlier, Asgard might have been destroyed by Mangog by now.

"I heard that the great God King Odin has passed away. Please allow me to express my condolences." He placed one hand on his chest, his huge body bowing slightly.

"Thank you, Eitri." Thor was a little sad, then got to the point: "We've come this time to borrow your Dwarves' furnace to eliminate a monster."

"Who is this?" Eitri glanced at Mangog. Although Mangog was bound by shackles, he could still feel a terrifyingly fierce aura from Mangog. He was startled and looked at Ron, who was holding Mangog with the chain.

Thor introduced to Eitri: "Ron has saved our Asgard many times. If not for him, Asgard would no longer exist."

"He is both Asgard's benefactor and our Dwarves' benefactor."

The group arrived at the center of the ring.

Ron threw Mangog into the huge furnace, which was about the same height as the Dwarf King. King Eitri had people control the ring, and the collected neutron star energy formed a column of light carrying terrifying high temperatures, shining down.

"Ah!"

Mangog let out a painful wail, its flesh and blood being scorched.

The shackles formed by the power of fear also fluctuated slightly.

A heatwave surged forward, and everyone's faces were flushed by the firelight.

Ron squinted, watching, but after a long while, Mangog's skin and surface flesh were only charred, and the shackles were still relatively intact.

"The furnace temperature isn't high enough."

Looking at the monster in the furnace, King Eitri was utterly shocked: "At this temperature, Uru metal would have melted long ago. What is this monster's body made of?"

Also, he looked at the shackles, which seemed to be made of energy, staring at Ron in surprise, feeling his immeasurably powerful strength.

"Ron, what do we do now?" Thor frowned and suggested: "Throw it into that dying star?"

The heat for the Dwarf craftsmen's furnace was provided by a dying star, a neutron star, enveloped in the center of the ring.

Ron looked up; the neutron star, whose light was slightly dim but contained infinite energy, floated in the center of the ring.

Neutron stars are the densest celestial bodies besides black holes. They are formed when sufficiently large stars evolve to their end, undergoing a supernova explosion due to gravitational collapse. Their surface temperature alone is millions of degrees.

"A typical neutron star has a diameter of at least ten miles.

But this one looks like it's not even one mile."

Logically, its original star size would only give birth to a White Dwarf, not a neutron star at all. It was unknown how this neutron star came into being through some serendipitous coincidence.

"However, even if it's a bit small, it's still a neutron star."

Even a small burst of its energy could destroy a Planet.

In Avengers 3, Thor's so-called "withstanding a neutron star" was merely withstanding a portion of the energy emitted from the neutron star's surface collected by the ring.

If he could truly withstand the entire neutron star's energy and weight, he could crush the Earth with a wiggle of his toe, let alone Thanos.

"No, that's not necessary."

Ron shook his head, releasing the power of fear from his palm to materialize a small star, half a meter in diameter, with terrifying condensed heat, and sent it into the furnace.

This monster, Mangog, was somewhat like Doomsday; not only was it unkillable, but it also became more powerful with each return, like a mechanism by which the Universe and fate judged the gods.

In the comics, when the female Thor threw it into a star, it reappeared as a powerful energy being, capable of easily controlling Thor's Hammer.

Throwing it into a neutron star, it would be bad if an even more powerful form emerged in the end.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

Flames capable of incinerating all matter rose.

"Ah! Mangog will return again one day!"

The shackles materialized by the power of fear melted, and Mangog could finally speak again, but it was only a final roar of angry defiance.

It stared fixedly at Ron, shouting, its flesh and bones turning to dust inch by inch, finally disappearing into the furnace.

Ron had heard similar words more than once; Parallax had also said them before it disappeared, but that was just Parallax's futile deathbed threat.

With Mangog, it was different; it truly had the possibility of returning.

"When you return, I might have reached an unimaginable level."

His expression was cold, unmoved.

In the comics, although Mangog could always reappear and become stronger each time, there was always a significant time interval before its next appearance.

There was nothing to fear.

Ability Points: 3.4 million Ability Points.

Templates Collected: Kryptonian Zod: 1.6 million.

Ragnarok has been resolved. When Mangog returns again, it will have little to do with Ragnarok, and the ability points have increased significantly.

"My physical body needs to be strengthened."

Looking at the panel, his eyes focused.

"Do you want to spend points to purchase the Kryptonian Zod template?

Yes!"

A wave of heat surged through his body, and Ron's physical body rapidly strengthened, doubling in power. After a few seconds, he opened his eyes and looked at the neutron star emitting a faint light.

Under that light, he tried clenching his fists, feeling as if an endless supply of power surged within him, as if he would never weaken or tire.

"Kryptonians can absorb energy from a yellow Sun and have their abilities weakened by a red Sun."

Could a neutron star also provide energy to a Kryptonian?

Not only did his strength double or triple, but Ron also felt that his vision, hearing, and other senses had increased by more than several times, especially the bio-electric aura on his body surface.

Homelander's physique wasn't without a bio-electric aura, but it was very weak, only covering a thin layer of his body surface, protecting his clothes.

But Superman, representing Kryptonians, could easily catch an airplane.

"And a Super Brain…"

Ron felt that his thinking speed was many times faster than before. He could think at a speed unimaginable to ordinary people, with inspirations constantly bubbling up.

"It's a pity it's not when I first transmigrated."

If he had a Super Brain when he first started, taking the scientific research path might have been much faster. By now, ordinary scientific research achievements could no longer help him.

Mangog was dealt with, but Ron's purpose in coming to Nidavellir was not just to resolve Mangog.

"Thor, did your father Odin once have Dwarf King Eitri forge him an Infinity Gauntlet?"

He had never forgotten the existence of the Infinity Stones. Even if there were unknown restrictions and horrors, he wanted to collect and try them.

Ron also hadn't forgotten that there was a mad Titan in the Universe who had always coveted the Stones. Although he held two Infinity Stones himself, and another was almost in his grasp.

Thanos couldn't collect all the Stones and snap that terrifying finger without going through him.

But letting Thanos get the other Stones would also be very troublesome, especially the Power Stone, whose power could be easily wielded if one's physique was up to par!

"Yes, but Ron, how do you know?"

Seeing Mangog killed, Thor, relieved, nodded.

Ron didn't answer, but he didn't press either. Ron's origin had always been mysterious; he seemed to have been born in Midgard, but his knowledge and power were unlike a Midgardian.

"I want the Dwarf King to forge an Infinity Gauntlet for me as well."

Ron spoke, stating another incidental purpose.

He had seen the gauntlet in Odin's vault.

Although Odin's vault was a heavily guarded Asgardian stronghold, to him, it was merely an empty facade.

"Although the Stones on that gauntlet are fakes, the gauntlet itself is real."

"It's just a bit too big."

He suspected that the gauntlet was prepared by Odin according to the size of his Destroyer Armor, to allow the Destroyer Armor to bear some of the impact energy from using the Infinity Stones.

"Ron, you want to collect the Infinity Stones?"

Thor was startled to hear this. He pulled Ron and Audreyf aside, looked around, and lowered his voice. His expression was more serious than ever, as if discussing something terrifying.

"That's right.

I've heard that your father once tried to collect the Infinity Stones.

But for some reason, he gave up halfway."

Looking at Thor's expression, he inquired.

"Is there any particular reason for this?"

"When I was a child, I once asked my father about the Infinity Gauntlet in the vault.

He told me it was a failed and dangerous attempt that nearly brought catastrophic disaster to Asgard."

Thor frowned tightly.

"What are these Infinity Stones you're talking about?" Audreyf asked confusedly. She had traveled through the cosmic galaxy, but the Infinity Stones were a secret known to few.

"At the dawn of the Universe, six Infinity Stones were born, controlling Space, Time, Reality, Power, Mind, and Soul, respectively.

They are almost the earliest existing things in the Universe, and also the most powerful treasures in the Universe. Legend has it that by gathering them, one can possess infinite power."

Thor's face was filled with awe as he explained.

After Odin's death, he had considered using the Infinity Stones to avert the Ragnarok brought by Hela.

But when he read his father's private books on the Infinity Stones.

He saw his father's notes in the book and abandoned the idea.

"The six Stones themselves are not that powerful; destroying them isn't difficult. But they are almost a condensation of authority.

Possessing one of them allows one to control a law in the Universe."

Ron continued.

Having possessed and researched two Stones, he spoke of his discoveries.

Through research, the Stones themselves actually don't have infinite energy; they are more like a type of permission entity that can mobilize the infinite energy of the Universe.

"So, in Avengers 3, when the Scarlet Witch destroyed the Mind Stone, which possessed infinite energy, the entire galaxy wasn't obliterated by an infinite energy surge when the Mind Stone exploded."

And Thanos could easily use the Time Stone to reverse time and restore the destroyed Mind Stone."

His eyes moved slightly, thinking to himself.

Otherwise, using infinity to manipulate another infinity would be a paradox.

"Furthermore, if the Stone itself possessed infinite energy, it wouldn't be unable to be used just because it was in a different Universe."

"Ron, my father once wanted to collect the Stones to expand Asgard with their power and rule the Universe.

Once, four of the Infinity Stones fell into his hands."

Thor's tone was solemn, using his father's example to try and persuade Ron to abandon the idea.

"But he later discovered something and only kept the Space Stone, eagerly sending all the other Stones away."

"Why?" Audreyf asked, puzzled.

"Four Stones?"

Hearing that Odin once possessed four Stones, Ron looked at Thor. This was also the question he wanted to ask.

"Father said that once more than two Infinity Stones are gathered, they will attract the attention of some terrifying entities!"
