Chapter 1 - Prologue

| The last monster reached out towards him, and announced a chilling message to the world.

"We will come back soon. We will come back to this world, and destroy your loved ones. I promise you, dear human." |

I looked at the back of the parchment paper. Are you serious? Is the last scroll?

I glanced at the red treasure chest covered in chains and talismans. I squinted my eyes.

"Hey, you, you're not allowed here!"

A flashlight shone on my face.

I jumped up and pulled the chest towards me.

I glanced at the guard. He has a pistol in his belt, and his hand placed onto it. The pistol has faint traces of shadow power spewing out. I smiled.

My hand grabbed the flash-bang in my pocket and threw it towards him.

I closed my eyes as my feet carried me as far as they could. The sound rang in my ears and I cried out in pain. No, I have to keep going.

I ran out on the street and waved.

"Taxi!"

My feet kicked the chest and I sighed. How would I get this open without any power? It's not like I've awakened, and I doubt I would be.

Except, if I handed it to a hunter, they would definitely turn it in to the city counsel. I sighed.

My eyes widened. I knew exactly how I would open it

But…it would be a challenge.

I would have to steal a weapon from the hunters.

Me, a university student with no powers, and an incredibly weak body.

Except, I had an advantage.

I could read hunters better than they could react.

Hm, I could easily sneak in the building, but I would have to equip myself.

Well, it's time to find out the truth.
