Chapter 51 - Whose Blood Is That?

YIN'S POV

I'd never moved faster in my life the way I did today. We loaded her into the carriage with as much care as we could manage, and I pressed my hand against the wound on her head, trying to stop the bleeding. She was so pale and nothing like the strong, vibrant woman I remembered from my childhood.

"Drive!" I shouted to the coachman. "As fast as you can!"

The carriage lurched forward, and I held my mother steady, my mind racing. How was this possible? I'd buried her. I'd mourned her. I'd spent years believing she was dead.

And now she was here, bleeding in my arms, and I had no idea what any of it meant.

"Ervin, send word ahead," I said, my voice tight. "Tell them to have the physician ready. Tell them it's urgent."

"Already done, my lord." He was pale, his hands shaking slightly. "I sent a runner the moment we got her in the carriage."
