Chapter 52 - I Am Your Doom

Irene's POV

The hallway stretched endlessly before me, and I had to grip the wall to keep myself from stumbling.

Maybe I'm hallucinating, I told myself. Maybe the stress of this arranged marriage, of living in this Gothic nightmare with a man I barely know, has finally broken something in my brain.

But I knew what I'd seen and i was neither blind nor stupid.

That woman that was on that bed, draped in white silk that shimmered like moonlight on water—she was the same woman who'd been haunting my nightmares for weeks. The same face that appeared in mirrors when I was alone. The same voice that whispered threats in the darkness when Yin was away.

I'd convinced myself I was losing my mind. That the isolation of this place was making me see things that weren't there.

Now she was real. She was here and Yin was treating her like she belonged.
