The land all around is desolate, rain pours yet a bright blue fire wreaks havoc all around, evaporating the rain before it could even get close to the ground. The earth is torn into large chasms, revealing only a darkness full of stars rather than the mantles magma below.
The winds rustle as sparks of life become visible in the middle of the battlefield. A vibrant white forest made of glowing mushrooms of a variety of cool colours.
The clouds in the sky disappear, a large shadow slowly clotting out the sky. The outer layer of a figure as large as a mountain range slowly swims out of the sky, the outer layer of barnacles dot the figure like armour, each are as large as a mountain. Below the armour of barnacles the rough, the epidermis looks as if they were a cloudy white shell and, there was flowing water streaming down its stomach.
The darkness envelops his thoughtless mind, pulling him closer.
Every few seconds they pulse with light, forming visible words. Looking closer at the information all that was readable are a mass of the transparent words.
"My observer, my vessel, I thank you. Your start is my end and your future is my beginning."
Qiony's eyelids jolt open, tears stream down his eyes. The mere act of knowledge overloads his body with pain, but just for a moment before it disappears.
A tiny whale that looks just like the one in his dream appears in the darkness Qiony sees. Except this whale is only the size of a child's thumb.
"The gods had once lived in their own domains. One day, we had all lost something, once we it was lost we had searched. But we ourselves became lost."
These words wreck his mind, his head throbs with pain. He sways almost falling on to the other end of the seat.
"We must start anew, taking slaves to rebuild ourself."
The sounds of his surroundings are drowned out by an inexplicable silence, even the torrential rain and howling winds were drowned out. Not only that, he had lost his sight, as if all light had just disappeared.
The information he shouldn't know surged into his eyes before bursting, his eyes quickly turning bloodshot, then like an ice cube his eye began to melt and pour out of his eye socket like water.
His optic nerve and all other parts just stay there while the clumps of eye falls onto Evelyn. The eye hits her face with a splat, making Evelyn who looked comfortable yet even more tired than when she was awake turn just a bit. She had almost fallen off Qiony's lap and onto the floor. Her long ponytail came undone at some point, turning her hair into a mess behind her back.
She raises her arm up, stretching for a couple of seconds before wiping the eye clump and squinting. "Qiony, why are you disturbing me?" Her words hold close to no energy, and yawns one more time before opening her eyes.
The moment her eyes open she stares at the eyeless Qiony, just for a moment she thought she saw a stream of golden letters fly through his empty eye sockets.
Qiony had looked completely unfazed other than the fact he had a frown on his face.
She just holds her mouth agape, almost jumping to the other end of the bus. She doesn't speak, just standing there gawking at him for a few moments.
"Jesus Qiony, yo-your eyes!" Qiony who seemed to not have noticed the loss of his sight, or even felt any pain from this was alerted to what happened.
No words are spoken, not that Qiony could hear it. She looks uneasy, her fingers take her phone, the day is now September 9th, meaning they had slept for a day. She swipes to emergency contact with extreme speed and she dials 911, one of the many things restored from the older eras.
She dials the number again and again to no response. Finally fed up with this failure she tosses her phone away, the sound of cracking glass hits the ground.
She takes Qiony and with some difficulty carries him on her back. After almost tripping she curses. "Fuck, you're heavy."
Pattering akin to rain hit the inside of his chest, as if more blood had decided to find a way into his lungs. But the most prominent feeling he had was that wanted to return back to sleep.
The pattering of rain struck his head, the storm which had two days ago still continued on despite the fact it should have stopped long ago. He could only feel the warmth of Evelyn carrying him on her back while she runs through the contrasting cold rain which pattered against his body. He curls closer Evelyns back, embracing the warmth of her body. He also had an overwhelming feeling of sleep, one he could not resist.
"Child, I am sorry for rushing this. I had almost run out of time to find a vessel."
Qiony had wanted to speak but there was no air to let out words, yet he could breathe.
The small whale looks to be made up of clouds and streams that are not comprised of water, instead they are comprised of words just faintly readable.
"I suppose just becoming a parasite took too much time, I do hope you don't mind if I live in your essence."
Mockingly he thought with obvious sarcasm lacing his thoughts. (No, not at all go right ahead to live inside of my… uh what is an essence.) Despite thinking it inside his head it was spoken out loud this time.
"I shall return your hearing and one of your eyes as a thanks, of course the thought of a new vessel for Virdeity will have your lords salivating, so that is all I will have to do." The whale swims around in the empty expanse, the fabric of reality pulls itself with its fins, pulling it until it rips. Then the glowing orb floats up, something is shoved into his right eye socket.
The resurfacing pain had been dispersed by the whale, it numbed him to the point he can't feel the eye reconnecting the optic nerve and all other necessary components.
The only caveat is that the eye was made out of knowledge as well, just by connecting to his brain he had received more knowledge, but this time it seemed to be hand selected by the whale.
"Vessel, the name they have given me is Endrit. Aqueous Ethos of Virdeism. God controlling the Flow of Information and Recording. Even when assuming the symbolic form, do not try to observe me. In short, just don't ask me anything I am not gonna answer."
Qiony sits there and looks around with his single eye, watching his vision go from darkness to blurry.
Before he can savour the feeling of his vision coming back which lets him see a blurry world that looks like a night sky and a mess of wood. Grey clouds obscure the night sky, three strikes of lightning hit his chest.
He feels no pain, and once the third strike hits him light hits his eye again.
The pattering of cold rain touched his skin, the cold water soaks his back where he lays. The sounds of splashing water and a thud against the puddles of the ground reach his fixed ears.
