Damn, if this is what traveling through portals feels like, I definitely don't want a repeat. I feel sick and nauseous at the same time. I looked at Shirley where she was dusting off all the sand from her body. So, nobody said Argob is an effing desert. I looked around just In case and yeap, definitely a desert.
"Where's Zain?" Shirley asked
Now, that's a good question. He didn't step into the circle with us and he is nowhere to be seen.
"Zain! I called out.
"What are you doing?" Shirley asked in a frustrated tone.
"Calling Zain, obviously"
"By alerting every being in this realm? Dumbass" Looking at me like stupid is my middle name.
Yeah now that I think about it, It's actually kind of stupid. I wonder where we go from here cause the only person that has a map or knows around, decided to drop out at the last minute. Looking around once again for any sign of life in this dang dessert, then I saw a shadow afar. Shirley's tense posture assured me I didn't see wrongly. Waiting to see, what it was because to be honest the shadow doesn't look human from here.Then, it started running towards us.
"Aiden?" Shirley said, already taking steps backwards
"Yeah, I see it" also taking a step back
"I think we should ru...."
Didn't even let her finish the last sentence before I grabbed her hand to make a run for it in the opposite direction. I looked back just in time to see the animal: more like a hyena duplicate itself, what the hell?
"I think we can take it"
"Are you sure? She looked back and gasped.
"It? Or them?
What is she even saying, i wondered. There's only one hyena thing there. I slid to a stop simultaneously manifesting my sword, Shirley didn't even stop, i faced it and also gasped. There's a whole clan, cause 100 or more hyenas doesn't classify as a pack anymore. The one in pursuit first was already close, leaping with such force, I swung my sword slashing it into two. Yeah, they might look terrify but at the end of the day am still the bigger predator here.
"Aiden! Run dammit. Look at the leader of the pack" Shirley called from afar
I looked at the the pack running towards me with more vigor and I feel their absolute bloodlust and it made me stagger. Collecting myself, I saw what Shirley was saying and immediately resumed running.
The one she called the leader was easily six foot tall in beast form but that wasn't what made me run. He fucking transformed while running into a giant of a man. Talk about being fucked.
"Where are we running to? Shirley asked as soon as I caught up with her with a horde chasing us.
"Anywhere that thing isn't" I replied breathless
No sooner did I finish my sentence, we found ourselves free falling downwards in a pit. What is wrong with this place and where the hell is Zain? Was my last thought before we landed on our ass.
"Couldn't you have looked before pulling me along?" She said angrily, standing up to dust herself
"Sorry, I was too concentrated on the hyena chasing us to look properly" I retorted
Looking around it looks like a completely different place from the desert, this place is more green with plants everywhere and a so different sky.
"I don't like the change of scenery"
"Are you serious right now Shirley? cause I seriously prefer anywhere that hyena looking animal isn't"
She passed me an irritated look "For the love of everything holy, think Aiden. Where we were before we could see anything coming for us. This place not so much"
That is so true and feeling very stupid and useless at the moment. It really was a brilliant idea bringing her. But we still don't know the way, and thats the major issue.
"Where do we go from here?"
"I don't know. Didn't Zain give you anything or tell you anything about this place?"
"No, apart from repeating that this place is a very dangerous realm and it holds many prisoners who would probably kill me on sight. That being said, i thought htw was coming with me. Maybe he followed another path" I said
"Yeah right, giving you as little information about where you are going and disappearing? When I see him, am going to maim him"
"I will help hold him down"
What does he even has to gain from this?, I asked myself. Well whatever it is, I know for certain now that it won't bode well for me. Then I suddenly remembered what the damn dream god said.
"Wait, I remembered something"
"What is it?" She asked, perking up.
"He said that in this realm, the sun is the guide and all roads leads to Ra's throne"
"He said that?" she asked dubiously
"Yeah, when he was explaining some of my powers to me"
"At least we can still see the sun here, but it's not as bright as the desert we were in" she said looking up towards the sun.
That was true I thought as I also looked up. What am I looking for? The sun is just the sun albeit a little darker, I can still feel it's energy and heat. Wait, there's something...
"Shirley, did the sun just change colors?"
"No, it didn't. I think it's the aftereffects of looking at the sun for long. I stopped looking" she replied looking around.
"Nah I don't think so, because the sun has a marking on it"
"Really?, Where is it?" She asked looking back up. She stares for the whole of a minute, then cursed taking her eyes away.
"I don't see any marking, even with my powers. How can you even still be looking at the sun"
"I don't know, but I think I know the way" I said finally looking at her.
"Aiden? What happened to your eyes?" She actually looked startled
"What do you mean?" I asked her, touching my eyes.
"Don't freak out, okay? Your eyes are glowing gold right now" moving closer, she lifts my chin to inspect my eyes I little more
"Oh that, it has happened before. It's the sun. Am seeing everything in 4D right now"
"It has happened before? And you didn't tell me?" She actually looked affronted.
"You are worried about that now?, You are unbelievable" throwing my arms up, perplexed.
"Well, it's not like that. Just forget it"
"I already have" I said and she hits me on the shoulder
