Chapter 55 - Chapter 55: My Childhood Friend is Spider-Woman

Chapter 55: My Childhood Friend is Spider-Woman

New York.

At the very heart of the bustling modern city!

A massive blue pillar of light shot into the sky, tearing open the heavens with a black hole that seemed to lead into the depths of the universe. From within that abyss, countless dense swarms of flying objects poured out!

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Explosions like thunder from a raging storm echoed across the city, as unknown horrors suddenly and mercilessly descended upon it.

Buzz—

Dozens of black specks rushed toward Times Square at terrifying speed. One of them was heading directly toward the shopping mall tower where Xi Nian was!

Xi Nian's eyes widened in shock. The black speck grew larger and larger in his vision as it approached.

When it drew within half a kilometer, its shape became clear—it was a flying craft resembling a jet ski. Its tall pilot was hard to make out, but one thing was certain: it was no human. Its entire body gleamed with a cold metallic sheen under the sunlight.

Before the unknown aircraft even fully entered the skies above the pedestrian street, it fired a blazing red beam from its front, a searing trail of fire streaking directly toward the building!

"Look out!!"

Xi Nian reacted quickly. He grabbed Gwen, his childhood friend, and dove backward with her in his arms.

At the same time, the devastating explosion tore through the outer wall between the third and fourth floors of the mall. Windows shattered instantly, reinforced concrete split apart, and part of the fourth floor collapsed with a thunderous roar!

Bang!!

The blast wave carried chunks of broken debris inside. Flames erupted from the massive hole in the facade, and black smoke quickly filled the interior of the mall.

"Cough, cough… Gwen, are you okay?"

Xi Nian, his ears ringing, coughed as he lay on the floor. The ground nearby had collapsed, leaving him on the edge of a deadly drop.

But none of that mattered.

Just moments earlier—

When Xi Nian had tackled Gwen to the floor, she had twisted in his arms, shielding him with her own body.

So Xi Nian himself was completely unharmed.

He scrambled up, searching frantically through the thick smoke. He could barely see two meters ahead, and Gwen's figure was nowhere in sight.

No…

Xi Nian's heart clenched hard.

Thud! Thud!

A towering figure leapt into the mall from outside, landing heavily on the fourth floor near Xi Nian with a metallic crash!

Through the smoke, two glowing red eyes appeared first. Then a nearly two-meter-tall mechanical humanoid strode out. Its metal body gleamed, and in its hand was an energy weapon not of Earth. Its eyes swiveled and locked onto the humans inside like a killing machine.

"You bastard!" Xi Nian's eyes reddened. He charged straight at the alien machine.

His left hand clenched into a fist, and beneath his sleeve the silver bracelet artifact burned hot, awakening in response to his fury with a blinding glow.

But someone else moved faster!

Just as Xi Nian and the alien machine were about to collide, a figure with short golden hair and a fluttering uniform skirt slipped between them. She grabbed the alien's metal arm with her bare hand.

Bang!!

The girl, only a little over 1.6 meters tall, executed a perfect over-the-shoulder throw, slamming the two-meter alien to the ground so hard that cracks spread across the floor. Agile as a cat, she leapt two meters high and came crashing down, her fist smashing brutally into the alien's face.

Crack! Crack!

Circuits, parts, and chips exploded as the robot's head shattered in a burst of sparks and wild current!

"Gwen?!" Xi Nian froze in place. That punch—its power must have been over a ton!

Was this really Gwen?

The same Gwen who sometimes asked him to open her soda bottle caps?

Impossible!

While Xi Nian was still stunned, Gwen—having finished off the alien—grabbed his hand and pulled him into the smoke-filled mall.

Inside and outside the building, screams and cries echoed as chaos turned the place into a living hell. Clearly, that was not the only alien invader. Dozens, perhaps hundreds, had descended on the plaza alone!

…

Gwen dragged Xi Nian into an empty clothing store, quickly finding a fitting room. She pulled him inside the narrow changing booth.

She unzipped her backpack and opened a hidden compartment. Just as Xi Nian had suspected, inside lay a familiar black-and-white spider suit.

So the Spider-Woman from that night was—

Gwen.

Xi Nian finally understood. But before he could speak, Gwen suddenly grabbed the hem of her top and pulled it off.

Her slender figure was revealed, smooth pale skin from her neck down to her toned abdomen with faint abs.

And most shockingly—she wore nothing underneath. Her nearly bare body left little to the imagination.

Wait—

Xi Nian's eyes caught two ordinary bandages stuck across her chest. But instead of covering anything, they only made her already mature figure seem even more alluring.

What the hell—

"Turn around, now." Gwen's cheeks flushed scarlet as she realized what she was doing. She shot Xi Nian a glare, biting her lip.

That only made her seem even more captivating.

Xi Nian spun around instantly. Now wasn't the time to gawk anyway.

Behind him came the sound of rustling clothes. Soon Gwen's voice said she was ready.

When Xi Nian turned back, Spider-Woman stood before him—the same one he had seen on the rooftop.

"I'll explain everything later. Right now, I need to get you and everyone else out safely." Gwen's voice was steadier now, full of confidence and reliability.

"Alright!" Xi Nian nodded without hesitation.

…

"Students, stay together! Don't scatter!"

In one corner of the mall, Instructor Lott and Assistant Instructor Mysterio—though just as terrified—were still trying to protect the majority of the students.

Thud! Thud!

Through the smoke, a red mechanical glow flickered. An alien machine spotted them and charged. Even before it closed the distance, it opened fire, blasting apart pillars and railings with searing white beams!

Students screamed and backed away, soon pressed helplessly against a wall.

Mysterio gritted his teeth, stepping up with Instructor Lott to shield the students with their bodies.

But at the last second, two strands of white web shot out from behind the alien, sticking firmly to its arms.

With immense force, the alien was yanked off its feet and hurled out of the building!

"Whoosh!" Spider-Woman landed gracefully in front of the instructors and students. She waved and shouted, "Everyone, follow me!"

Xi Nian grabbed the alien's dropped energy gun and joined the students.

"Go, let's get out of here!"

Instructor Lott, who had thought they were doomed, snapped back to life and cried out in
