Siya's POV
Once again, the same bench.
The same class.
But not the same me.
Because today, I was actually happy.
Instead of burying my head in books like always, I was busy noticing my class. Why? Because today, I was hoping I'd finally uncover their little secrets. Honestly… I was kinda excited.
That's when Anisha and her bestie walked in.
Anisha smiled at me. Her bestie? She gave me a look so rude, it could actually kill.
I don't like her either. But I can't show that—because if I fight back, the whole class will just label me as "the nerdy teacher's pet who's also mean."
And I don't want that.
All I want is friendship. A good school life. Nothing else.
---
While I was lost in thought… I noticed him.
None other than Ayaan.
Like, how can I not notice him? His perfect moles, pink lips, sharp jawline… and that smile. Ugh. That smile.
He was laughing with his friends when—
He saw me.
Yep. He actually noticed me.
And of course, he caught me smiling like an idiot while staring at him. For the first time in his life, he probably realized I even exist.
But damn. What must he be thinking? That I like him? That I'm behind him?
Hell no. I don't want him to think that.
I was still stuck in this mini panic when Vish suddenly appeared in front of me.
"Are you smiling while looking at someone?" he teased.
I blinked. "What? Shut up. What do you want?"
"Ahh, rude." He smirked. "I know you're helping me, but it's not free. Someday, I'll help you too."
"Yeah, sure." I replied quickly.
(And honestly? Thank god. Because of Vish, Ayaan probably didn't doubt me. To make it look even more natural, I started acting sweet with Vish—so Ayaan would just think I'm friendly with everyone, not crushing on him.)
But Vish? He was something else.
He looked me straight in the eye.
"See Siya, I know I'm handsome. But we can't be more than friends. Not even best friends."
EXCUSE ME???
I snatched my notes back and glared.
"Go find someone else. I'm not even interested in being your friend."
He raised his hands like he surrendered. "Sorry. But you were so sweet for a moment."
"I'm sweet with everyone," I shot back. "It's just you who irritates me, that's why I act rude."
"Fine." He laughed and walked off.
Of course… half the class had seen the whole scene.
Exactly what I didn't want.
I just hope Ayaan doesn't misunderstand. Because honestly, he already likes someone else. And the thought of him knowing I had eyes on him? Ugh. Embarrassing.
---
Anyway, today I also helped Anisha. She even gave me her number.
I asked her, "Doesn't your bestie have a problem with this?"
She laughed. "See, as a person I like you. We're friends, classmates—it's fine. About Shela, yeah, she's kinda mean. But I told her we'll get notes from you, so she agreed."
Ohooo. I laughed too, but deep down? I felt like they were just using me.
Still, Anisha was different. She was the kind of girl who talked too much and only realized it later.
And maybe… if they're using me, I can also use them.
---
School finally ended. On my way back, I walked with Ruby. Her friends asked her if I was her friend.
And guess what she said?
"No. I don't know her. She's not my friend. She just has the same way home, that's why we walk together."
…Wow. Okay.
I mean, it's fine to be loyal to your friends. But girl, at least see who's walking beside you.
Anyway, I let it go. My plan was to get Ruby to spill gossip about my class.
So I started asking her, "Do you know this person? That girl? Who's who?"
But she brushed me off.
"I don't know about your class. We don't care about your B division. A div is fun. B is boring."
And that was it. She ended the topic.
She asked about me instead. I just said, "Everything is good. Everyone's nice. I know Anisha too."
Ruby's eyes lit up. "Oho, nice!"
I casually asked, "Anything suspicious in B division?"
She shook her head. "Nooo. Nothing like that."
Well… my plan failed. Shit. I was actually excited.
But then I remembered—I had Anisha's number.
---
That evening, I was bored. So I called her.
"Hey, I'm bored," I said.
She laughed. "Same. Ohoo, you're so correct with timing. I was bored too."
And just like that, we started talking. First about studies. Then slowly… gossip.
I asked her little things about the class. And guess what? She actually told me most of the stuff.
When I was trying to casually ask about Ayaan, she said it herself:
"Ayaan is the chocolate boy of our class. Most people like him."
Then suddenly she asked, "Do you know him? If yes… do you like him?"
My heart jumped. But I immediately said, "Sorry, who's Ayaan?"
She laughed. "Let it be. If you're not interested, forget it."
And she moved on to talking about other people.
---
Later, I was lying in bed, replaying the whole call.
Why did I lie? If I had just admitted I know Ayaan, maybe she would've told me more.
But well… let it be.
After one or two hours of gossip, the call cut. And still, I was smiling. Because now I knew so many things about my class.
And one thing stayed in my mind the most:
She mentioned Ayaan's best friend. She said a lot about him.
But I've never seen him.
From her words, he sounded… special.
And that was the last thought in my head before I fell asleep.
Ahh God who is ayaan best friend??.
