Chapter 5 - 4.Ayan’s Best Friend?

Siya's POV

I was late.

Like really, really late.

I ran through the hallway, my shoes squeaking against the floor, my heart pounding like a drum. If I could just reach before the teacher…

But of course, fate had other plans.

BAM.

I collided straight into someone at the classroom door and almost fell. My books scattered, my hairband slipped, and for a second, I just froze.

He looked down at me—annoyed, sharp eyes, messy good-looking hair, denim jacket, that perfect jawline. The type of face you don't usually forget.

"Who are you?" he asked, irritation clear in his tone.

"Uh… sorry," I muttered, embarrassed, and ran straight to my bench without another word.

Some guys chuckled behind me. Then I heard them telling him, "That's Siya."

But instead of letting it go, he frowned. "Siya? How can she be Siya?"

Oh. That.

There was another Siya in Div A. The topper. Once upon a time, she used to be in our Div B too. We were kinda similar in personality, but looks? Totally different. She was also preety ,more polished, more… perfect. She had even helped me with notes once. So yeah, the confusion was real.

The guy—still annoyed—sat down in front of Anisha and Shela's bench. Shela started explaining about me, while Anisha? She was strangely silent.

Like, really silent.

And knowing her, that was weird. My suspicious brain immediately whispered: Wait… is it because of him?

Before I could overthink too much, Ayan entered.

"Bro, Tanev! You took so long to come. What were you doing, huh? Becoming a housemaid?"

The guy—Tanev. So that was his name—rolled his eyes. "Shut up, idiot."

They sat together, laughing. And just like that, one mystery was solved. This was Ayan's best friend. The same guy Anisha had once talked about a lot.

I peeked at Anisha again. Yep. She was still all quiet and nervous. And honestly? It seem like there is something between them( tanev and anisha) but I can't even say she has crush on him because it was more like he was giving her signals.

In my mind I said who cares but all I was thinking about them and then I realised that , everyone is noticing me because I was making weird detective faces too. My notebook was open, but my brain was in full gossip mode.

When I finally looked up again, my heart sank.

Ayan was staring at Aysha. Again. Always Aysha.

I sighed. Seriously? Tanev, who barely knows me, has already noticed me. And Ayan? He doesn't even know I exist. Why? Like, what the hell did I do wrong in life?

I got so lost in my thoughts, I didn't even notice when someone walked up to me.

"Hey. You're Siya, right?"

I snapped my head up. It was Tanev.

He stood there, looking right at me. "Can you help me with notes?"

Panic hit. The entire class was watching. My heart started racing. Ayan was somewhere behind him. Watching too.

And what did I do?

I said, "No."

Yeah. Just one frustrated, sharp NO.

The class went silent for a beat—then burst out laughing.

Tanev's jaw tightened. His eyes darkened. He didn't yell, but his whole face screamed he was controlling his anger.

The girls glared at me. The boys chuckled, whispering. And my stupid heart? Still worried about what Ayan must be thinking of me, instead of the fact that I just rejected the most powerful guy in the class.

Before Tanev could reply, our teacher walked in. Saved by the bell.

But the way Tanev looked at me? Cold. Sharp. Dangerous.

And in that moment, I realized something.

I may have just made an enemy.

Not just any enemy.

But one of the strongest ones in class.

Honestly my only fear at this point was what if I have hurt his ego or something like that , Because if the answer is yes I am done!!!!

And what if tanev really that strong powerful the way people talk about hum then I would have surely dead too....
