Chapter 10 - CHAPTER 10:SOFT BED,LOUD THOUGHT

The next day was the day I had to go to my new school. I did everything I needed to do, then found my way through the hostel—since my roommate was still acting all bossy toward me. And mind you, she's white, though I still don't even know her name.

So, I took a taxi to my school. While in the car, I kept observing the surroundings until we reached the entrance of the campus. I was in awe. On the walkway, I asked someone for directions to the head office, and he showed me. The school is really big, eiii hmmm.

After turning here and there and almost getting lost in thought, I finally found the office. I knocked and entered. I greeted the director, and after exchanging a few pleasantries, she called a certain lady to show me around the school. But for now, we had to go to class since it was about to begin.

After the first class, I went to my locker, placed my books inside, and we headed to the cafeteria for something to eat. That's when I learned the lady's name was Margaret. She's in the same level as me, but she's doing Business Management. We talked for a short while. She introduced me to her friends, and they were actually cool around me.

While we were eating, I saw my roommate coming toward the cafeteria. I guessed she was coming to buy food. As she walked past, I noticed Margaret and her squad were gossiping about her. Well, I guess she's popular here—the way everyone was looking at her, you could tell.

After we finished eating, everyone left for their classes. We were having Literature at that time, so I went and sat in my chair. And guess what—everyone had a laptop on their desk. I didn't even notice until the guy beside me pointed it out. When the lecturer mentioned the page, I was lost. I could see everyone focusing on something.

So, I thanked the guy and tried to focus too. I asked for his name, but he said I should figure it out myself. Well, that's going to be a long journey then.

After class, I went to the entrance to take a taxi home since we were done for the day—and I was already exhausted. I couldn't wait to relax on my soft bed.

When I reached the hostel, the first thing I did was take a cold bath. Then I slept for a few hours. When I woke up, I cooked something small for my stomach, then watched a movie on my laptop.

I was happy. My first day at New York University went well—and I even made friends.

When I was done watching the movie, I started writing everything that happened today in my diary—the new faces I met and how I felt. When I finished, I exhaled deeply, then closed my eyes and slept, hoping tomorrow would be great too.
