Chapter 52 - Chapter 52: Is There Any Investment That Always Loses?

Beautiful Clymene sighed, full of helplessness and worry, and said slowly: "My child, you are the god of foresight, so you should be able to clearly see that the God King's decaying order will inevitably be overthrown—this is an irreversible certainty."

"No matter who still supports an order destined to be overthrown, they will inevitably be destroyed along with it."

Prometheus sighed as well—how could he not understand this principle?

He replied: "Mother Goddess, I naturally understand this point."

"But Father God and my brother firmly defend the God King's order. Our honor is bound together with the God King's. We cannot change their will, so we can only find ways to achieve victory."

Clymene furrowed her beautiful blue brows, her expression becoming unusually grave, and she said in a heavy voice: "My child, you are the god of foresight. I know you have always taken pride in your extraordinary wisdom."

"But I must tell you some unfortunate news: beside the sons of Kronos now stands one whose wisdom surpasses yours."

"My sister, the ocean goddess Metis—she is the embodiment of wisdom, the most sagacious goddess of wisdom. Her wisdom is not something you can overcome."

"The sons of Kronos already possess power no weaker than the God King's, and now with the wise goddess's assistance, victory is already assured."

"Now, you should no longer think about joining Kronos to oppose Zeus, but should find a way to leave this war destined for failure!"

The news that Clymene revealed shocked Prometheus so much that he felt dizzy and was filled with terror.

Metis had always been well-protected by Oceanus, and not many knew she was the goddess of wisdom—at least Prometheus didn't know.

This news was like a bolt from the blue, completely crushing his last vestige of hope.

If they hadn't reached a life-or-death situation, if Prometheus weren't still unrealistically thinking about turning the tables, Clymene still wouldn't have told him this secret.

Prometheus fell silent for a long time, chaotic thoughts surging through his mind like tidal waves, leaving him utterly confused.

Suddenly, a flash of inspiration struck.

A smile gradually appeared on his face, his eyes showing determination and resolve as he said: "Mother Goddess, I have always firmly believed that as long as one persists without giving up and does everything with all one's might, then no matter what the situation, it's worth trying—there's always a glimmer of hope to be found."

"Father God and my brother—their war with the sons of Kronos is already unavoidable. They have chosen that path based on honor, and we cannot stop them."

"For our family's honor, and even more for Father God's safety, I must do something. I cannot just sit by and watch."

Clymene was greatly alarmed upon hearing this and hastily asked: "My child, what do you intend to do?"

Prometheus said: "Mother Goddess, I won't do anything foolish. I think I've found allies. If victory still cannot be achieved, then at that time, please help me defect to the sons of Kronos."

Clymene's blue eyebrows nearly stood on end, knitted tightly together, and only after a long while did she nod.

She could only give one final warning: "My child, absolutely do not do anything irreversible."

Prometheus hesitated no longer and turned to stride resolutely toward Mount Othrys.

Some things had to be done, but to leave himself and his family a way out, he couldn't do them himself—he just needed to provide the ideas.

Just as Prometheus was rushing about for his disappointing father and brother, Olympus also welcomed an extremely noble guest.

Nyx, Sovereign of Night, after leaving Mount Othrys, did not return to her own dark and profound domain, but quietly came directly to Mount Olympus.

Things having reached this point, she too was going to bet everything on Zeus!

No more pretending, the cards were on the table!

Goddess Nyx, as one of the most primordial deities in the universe, possessed authority so powerful that it was incomparable to ordinary gods.

Aside from the God King, any single Primordial Titan would absolutely be no match for her power.

But even possessing such an extremely lofty position and incomparably formidable strength, she still suffered terribly.

Not only had Mother Goddess Gaia's authority as the mother of matter been continuously subdivided and stripped away as the universe evolved, but Goddess Nyx was in almost the same situation as Mother Goddess Gaia—if not worse.

Initially, the universe contained only darkness and night, and she shared supreme primordial authority with Erebus.

Then, darkness and night gave birth to light and day. With the birth of these two offspring, her authority was instantly halved.

But this wasn't too problematic yet, because light and day still existed within darkness and night.

Subsequently, Uranus, the Sovereign of Spirit, seized light and day, and even changed the very source of light and day.

Her own children became someone else's!

This wasn't just losing children—her authority was directly and completely halved, and she was thoroughly suppressed.

Later still, the structure of the universe became increasingly perfect under Uranus's rule.

The successive appearance of the firmament, the vast cosmos, brilliant celestial bodies, illuminating light, and various radiant laws caused the primordial authority of darkness and night to be continuously compressed, thoroughly suppressed by the celestial god system.

Even more terrifying was Uranus himself, that dreadful Sovereign of Spirit.

Erebus, the embodied incarnation of darkness, was completely stripped of his spirituality by a single glance from the supreme Sovereign of Spirit, and darkness would never again give birth to spirituality.

Moreover, Uranus also transformed darkness into a defense line blocking Tartarus, completely turning it into a tool.

That was the first time the Lady of Night experienced the trembling fear of divinity.

Her first all-in bet was joining with all the gods who could no longer endure to overthrow Uranus.

That was a great battle that decided the universe's new destiny, and the power of night played an indispensable role in it, serving as essential assistance in overthrowing the old order.

However, the rewards she received were pitifully few—so few as to chill a god's heart.

Aside from no longer having to live under the oppressive environment where her spiritual consciousness could be annihilated by Uranus at any moment, she received none of the honor and real power she deserved.

Mother Goddess Gaia and the celestial divine house tightly controlled every corner of the universe. Though they nominally accepted her as a co-ruler of the cosmos, her actual power was negligible.

Apart from an empty title of honor, she could be said to have gained nothing.

Even her source children who had been seized by Uranus and transformed into laws that constrained her were never truly returned to her—they remained her children only in name.

She wasn't even allowed to enter the world proper.

The current world not only lacked temporal symbolism but also had no rotation of sun and moon, and not even the alternation of light and darkness.

In the cosmic order established by Kronos, even the descendants of Titans were still treated harshly—how much more so pure outer gods?
