Zeus's relentless barrage of attacks gave Metis no opportunity to speak whatsoever.
His cold and sharp words made the goddess of wisdom feel bewildered and at a loss for the first time.
Yet beneath this wave of panic, an indescribable sweet warmth and sense of security quietly began to grow and spread in her heart.
She opened her cherry lips in confusion, wanting to explain, but Zeus's surging fury had not subsided—he gave her no chance and continued his offensive.
Zeus suddenly released her fair and tender wrist with such force that she staggered and nearly fell.
Zeus's handsome face was now filled with suppressed obvious anger and disappointment, along with bone-deep heartbreak. He said coldly: "Since you're already satisfied, since you've achieved your purpose, you can go—return to your ocean!"
His voice was like the coldest winter wind, carrying unquestionable finality: "Since your heart holds no trust in me, why remain by my side?"
"You understand me even less than those hostile deities!"
Zeus shook his head in self-mockery, his voice carrying endless bitterness: "It seems I was being too sentimental."
"Let me tell you! I, Zeus, will never treat you as a tool for my victory!"
Zeus declared decisively: "Go. No matter what, I will achieve final victory, and I will completely resolve Coeus and the others."
Zeus let out a long sigh filled with endless disappointment and weariness.
He said finally: "Daughter of Oceanus, return to your ocean. With the Ocean God and Nurturing Goddess protecting you, you'll be safe."
"I will definitely achieve final victory, and the threat you worry about will completely disappear."
After speaking, Zeus turned to leave, though his movements were really quite slow.
As if waiting for something.
Sure enough, Metis's slender figure shot forward like an arrow released from its string, carrying urgent wind, transforming into a purple stream of light and rushing directly in front of Zeus, blocking his path.
Her pale and beautiful face was now filled with panic and helplessness.
She urgently wanted to explain, wanted to make amends, but now her thoughts were like tides stirred by wild winds, completely chaotic—she had no idea how to organize her words, much less where to begin!
However, Zeus's "offensive" had not stopped. He continued outputting his "anger."
He looked at her as if viewing a stranger, brows tightly furrowed, using an almost cold gaze of examining an unfamiliar deity as he looked at Metis, asking in a heavy voice: "Daughter of Oceanus, why haven't you left yet? Do you think you haven't humiliated me thoroughly enough?!"
"Do you know who you're hurting?"
"Just because I love you deeply, do you think you can hurt me so recklessly?"
Zeus looked up to the sky with a long sigh that even carried trembling: "Metis, why must you be so cruel?"
The goddess of wisdom had now lost all wisdom. All her calm and intelligence crumbled under Zeus's uninterrupted offensive.
She only shook her head frantically and forcefully, her ankle-length purple hair flowing like a star river, flying and dancing chaotically from her violent movements.
Words could no longer express her current feelings. In extreme anxiety, she directly used the most primitive and sincere action to express her turbulent emotions.
Without hesitation, she threw herself directly into Zeus's magnificent and broad embrace.
She tightly wrapped her arms around Zeus's waist, burying her face deeply in his chest, her voice carrying fear and panic as she said urgently and tremblingly: "Zeus! Please believe me! I have no intention of hurting you! Much less any intention of humiliating you! Not even the slightest bit!"
Her voice was filled with pleading and self-blame.
"I'm sorry, it's my fault! My heart was too chaotic, making me unable to stop wild thoughts. I shouldn't have distrusted you—please forgive me!"
She raised her head, tears glimmering in her bright eyes as she begged with utmost sincerity: "Zeus, I swear by my father god Oceanus's honor that I absolutely have no intention of hurting you. Zeus, please—I beg you to forgive me!"
At this moment, Metis perfectly illustrated that truth: wisdom's only enemy is love, which can make all reason clouded.
Even a goddess possessing the universe's strongest wisdom, once caught in love's snare, once troubled by those blazing and complex emotions, would have wisdom no cleverer than any fool.
All her intelligence had now transformed into anxiety and panic, fearing the loss of her beloved, able only to plead helplessly.
Zeus felt Metis's trembling delicate body. His strong and powerful arms immediately embraced this anxious and nervous bright-eyed goddess tightly.
However, his brows remained tightly furrowed, as if the "confusion" and "heartbreak" in his heart had not completely dissipated.
His deep and magnetic voice carried a trace of "hesitation" and "uncertainty" as he asked heavily: "Is this true? Metis, is this your most real, innermost thought?"
Upon hearing Zeus's question, Metis nodded repeatedly.
Her small head now used all her body's strength, trying to express all her sincerity through this action.
Zeus immediately pressed his advantage, pursuing relentlessly, his voice carrying clearly detectable expectation as he pressed: "Then, dear Metis, can you feel my love?"
Metis did not hesitate, nodding heavily again. Her bright eyes were filled with firmness and certainty—her love was now incomparably clear.
Zeus's tightly knitted brows relaxed considerably in that moment. His handsome face once again showed gentle smiles.
He held the goddess of wisdom who had fallen into love tightly, his deep and magnetic voice now becoming incomparably gentle, like the warmest spring breeze caressing Metis's heartstrings.
He lowered his head and whispered in Metis's ear with the most tender and sincere voice: "My dear bright-eyed goddess, the eternal beloved of my heart—"
"If you can truly feel this deep love I have for you, then would you be willing to accept this love of mine?"
His voice was filled with endless temptation and gentle traps.
Waiting for Metis to give her final, willing answer.
Metis was about to nod according to her heart's desire, but her innate wisdom instinct issued a weak warning at this moment, stirring a trace of hesitation in her heart.
Her wisdom instinct told her this might not be such a sweet and perfect good thing.
