Chapter 71 - Chapter 71: Metis! Why Must You Hurt Me So!

He paused, his tone becoming even more puzzled as he mused to himself: "It's really strange. They should know very clearly that if they chose to stand on my side, I would definitely achieve final victory. Why didn't they come to discuss this with me proactively?"

"After all, they would only need you to give up your wisdom authority—such a small request compared to the help of two Primordial Titans doesn't seem like much."

"So why would they take such risks, not considering this mutually beneficial trade at all, but directly choosing to support His Majesty the God King?"

Zeus seemed to think of something and looked at Metis, asking: "Ah—Metis, could you give up your authority for final victory? You would be willing, right? You definitely would be willing, right?"

Zeus earnestly promised: "Metis, you don't need to worry either. I can separate out your divine nature and find you a new law. You'll be fine—it's just changing to a different law."

Zeus's words made Metis's pretty face instantly turn pale and cold, even her rosy cherry lips losing their color.

Her bright eyes filled with unbelievable pain, her heart extremely bitter, as if cut open and soaked in endless salt water.

However, she still endured the severe pain in her heart and continued giving Zeus advice, though her voice was so weak it seemed ready to dissipate at any moment: "Zeus, perhaps perhaps the God King deceived them and distorted the facts."

"If, if you require me to abandon wisdom's authority, for victory, I will comply with your will."

"You should go find them now and propose this suggestion to them, have them help you achieve victory. They will definitely support you—they have no reason to disagree."

The heartbroken goddess of wisdom's voice became increasingly ethereal and powerless, using all her strength just to speak: "You you only need to sacrifice my wisdom authority, and this war can be easily won."

Upon hearing this, Zeus immediately nodded repeatedly, lightly clapping his hands, his face showing a "sudden realization" of delighted surprise: "This is truly a wonderful idea that benefits everyone! Metis, you are so wise! I'm truly grateful for your generosity and contribution!"

His tone was full of approval, as if deeply satisfied with this proposal: "Our side gains two Titans as allies, while the God King's side loses two powerful helpers. The scales of war will instantly tip—victory could be said to be within easy reach."

"This way, we can indeed end this war quickly and avoid any unexpected complications. This is truly the best method."

"Oh—great Metis, rest assured, the gods and I will forever remember your achievements. I will definitely repay your contributions."

Hearing Zeus's "agreeing" words, Metis's convulsing heart now felt as if it were being carved out alive by a sharp blade.

She nodded gently, almost imperceptibly, then deeply lowered her beautiful head and spoke no more.

She only felt all the strength in her body gradually disappearing, as if being ruthlessly submerged by dry salt water, with cold and despair tightly entwining her from all directions, making her feel suffocating dizziness.

Zeus seemed oblivious, his magnetic voice continuing to loudly give praise: "Oh my, Metis, truly worthy of wise you! This is really an excellent idea. Thank you so much for your suggestion—what a great sacrifice and contribution. I'm so grateful to you."

He spoke while nodding repeatedly, as if he truly thought this was the best way to solve all problems. His determined expression even carried the "sincerity" of "don't worry, I definitely won't forget you."

"Wise Metis, it looks like we'll be able to achieve victory soon!"

Zeus's relaxed and pleased words echoed over the divine mountain, but Metis kept her head lowered in silence.

Even her hair, flowing like a purple star river, had lost its former divine radiance, hanging dully and lusterlessly over her shoulders.

"Ha."

Zeus suddenly let out a contemptuous cold laugh, his voice like the sharpest ice pick in winter, instantly piercing the silent world.

The smile on his face vanished without a trace in an instant, replaced by extreme coldness and anger.

He suddenly grabbed Metis's small, jade-like wrist with such force it could almost be called brutal, making Metis unable to suppress a low cry of pain.

"What?!" Zeus's voice suddenly rose sharply like thunderclaps!

His golden eyes burned with raging fire as he stared directly into Metis's eyes, shouting sternly: "Daughter of Oceanus! In your heart, am I such a despicable god?"

His voice was like rolling thunder, carrying suppressed anger and divine kingly majesty.

"A base god who would sacrifice his beloved by any means necessary for victory?!"

He suddenly increased the force in his hand, making Metis's fragile wrist even more painful. "Hmm?! Is that it?! Answer me!"

"Could it be that in your heart, I'm a god who would sacrifice his heart's beloved for victory?"

"Tell me! Why do you have such thoughts?!"

"Tell me! Why do you humiliate me so?!"

"Tell me! Why don't you trust me?!"

"Tell me! Why do you so cruelly wound the soul of a god who loves you deeply?!"

"Tell me, Metis, why do you have such foolish thoughts?!"

Zeus's voice became increasingly passionate and angry: "Do you think you know why the Coeus couple chose to help the God King so resolutely without discussing it with me at all?!"

"If you don't know, then let me tell you!"

Zeus's voice suddenly rose sharply, his tone cold and terrifying: "Because they know that if they dared speak such words before me, I would unhesitatingly destroy everything they have immediately!"

"I would unhesitatingly crush all their glory! I would completely annihilate them! I would cast them into the deepest eternal darkness of Tartarus!"

"I would make them never see any light again! I would make them unable to feel even the slightest bit of the world's beauty throughout eternal ages!"

Zeus's golden pupils burning with rage stared directly at Metis's bright eyes brimming with tears, his tone filled with extreme pain and questioning: "Metis! My love! Don't you truly know my heart?!"

"If you know, then why do you still hurt me so?! Why do you still humiliate me so?!"

"Does... does humiliating a god who loves you so much bring you pleasure? Does it satisfy your proud wisdom divinity?"

His voice carried a trace of hoarse trembling—the pain triggered by his beloved's "betrayal."

"If so... good! Then let me tell you, you've succeeded!"

"You've successfully humiliated me, you've successfully hurt me!"

"Are you satisfied now?!"
