"It's really complicated," Axel said, stepping into Dallas's path so he wouldn't just storm away.
Dallas's expression hardened as his steps slowed. He glanced at Axel, frustration still clear in his eyes. "Aren't you at least going to apologize for what you just said to me?"
His voice was calm, but sharp enough to cut through Axel's defenses. Without waiting for an answer, he tried to walk past.
"Sorry," Axel blurted, his voice carrying honesty he didn't even try to hide. "I didn't mean any of it." He hated how small he sounded, but it was the truth.
Dallas finally stopped, his eyes lingering on Axel's face like he was trying to read every unspoken word. "Is he bullying you? Forcing you into that?" He asked bluntly, no hesitation in his tone.
"No, no, that's not it," Axel answered instantly, maybe too fast. His whole body stiffened.
