Chapter 2 - Where the hell am I?!

Life… can feel like a rollercoaster of emotions and events.Curious, isn't it?

Everything that happens in our daily lives is fleeting, like mist: it appears… and then disappears.

Sometimes we want to give up, close our eyes, and never wake up.Other times, however, we feel that living is the best thing that ever happened to us.

Yet… be grateful.

Because many would wish to have your life. Many would give everything for just one more minute… and now they can't.

Remember this: every decision you make marks a path of no return. And after death… there is no second chance.

That's why you should enjoy both the good and the bad.Value every moment, because this journey is unique and unrepeatable.

Life doesn't offer an isekai after the end.

So smile, and make the most of every second of this fleeting journey called "life."

In the vast darkness, Fares' eyes opened. There was nothing. Only an endless void, the absolute absence of light.

He floated in that silent space and, with a bitter laugh, murmured:—Did I… just die?

The idea felt like mockery. How pathetic… he thought.

Suddenly, an intense light burst through the void, so bright that he had to cover his eyes with both hands.

When he finally lowered them, the sight left him breathless. He was no longer in darkness. His body, naked, was barely covered by enormous leaves, each larger than his head.

Confused, he slowly got up. Around him stretched a colossal forest: trees of impossible size, their canopies seeming to vanish into the sky. He looked up and found a deep blue, as vast and pure as the sea.

—What the…?! Where the hell am I?! —he shouted, breathing heavily.

The vegetation around him was gigantic: shrubs reaching nearly twenty-six feet high, as if grown on steroids.

—What the hell…? —he whispered, incredulous.

Yet what truly left him breathless were the trees. Colossal, their tops lost among the clouds, as if they had no end.

A shiver ran down his spine. That sight, majestic and terrifying at once, made him realize he was facing an impossible world.

But suddenly, a floating screen appeared before his eyes. Its bluish glow blinded him for a moment, pulling him out of his trance.

—What the…?! —he shouted, stepping back instinctively.

His breathing quickened, but seeing that the thing didn't disappear, he swallowed hard and stood up, summoning his courage. Slowly, his eyes scanned the words floating in the air:

Congratulations!You have obtained 15 talents.

Fares froze completely.

—Huh…? —he stammered in his mind, incredulous.

Suddenly, a bitter, almost hysterical laugh escaped his lips.

—What?! Is this a f***ing RPG game?! —he shouted, eyes wide open, madness and confusion blending on his face.

He couldn't comprehend it. It was absurd, impossible… and yet it was there, floating before him, mocking all logic.

After a few seconds, Fares managed to calm down. He took a deep breath, still heart racing, and murmured:

—This is so weird, but… —

Suddenly, a wide smile spread across his face. His eyes shone brighter than ever before.

—I LOVE IT!!! —he shouted with all his might, so loud that the echoes were swallowed by the colossal trees.

For the first time in a long while, life was giving him a gift. And the best part… it matched his tastes perfectly!

He screamed at the sky with pure joy, as if he wanted the whole world to hear his happiness:

—THANK YOU, HEAVENS! YOU'RE THE BEST! A WEIRD AND ABNORMAL WORLD COMBINED WITH RPG GAME ELEMENTS! WHAT MORE COULD I ASK FOR?! —he exclaimed, jumping and laughing, completely thrilled.

Fares' shout reverberated among the trees and mountains. He smiled broadly, trembled, and cried… but these weren't tears of sadness—they were tears of pure happiness.

However, his joy didn't last long. His shout had attracted a creature that, at first glance, looked like a deer… but something was off.

It stood over two meters tall, its body large and robust. Its eyes, red as blood, shone with unnatural fury, and instead of normal antlers, it had enormous curved horns, like those of a ram.

Fares froze in fear. He couldn't even scream. He only heard a voice inside his head, urgently whispering:

—Run!

Without thinking, he bolted. His heart pounded wildly; each step was a brutal struggle against pain and exhaustion. Soon, he realized that in his current state, he couldn't outrun the creature.

Then he remembered his talents. Determined, he thought of his speed and allocated 5 points to that stat.

5 points added to Speed.

Suddenly, his body felt different. His legs seemed to move on their own, the wind whipping across his face as his steps became light and sure. His speed increased to match that of a galloping horse at full force.

Fares looked back. The creature was still chasing him, relentless, but now something that had seemed impossible before had become possible: the chance to escape.

The forest blurred around him. Every tree, every giant shrub, flew past like streaks of light as he surged forward with a strength and speed he had never felt before.

—This… is incredible! —he shouted, half in adrenaline, half in awe—. With this, I can survive!

The creature's roar echoed behind him, reminding him that there was no time to waste. Every moment counted; every second was an opportunity to survive in this impossible world.

Fares felt the wind slapping his face as he ran at full speed. However, he soon noticed the creature was accelerating, closing in, showing that his chances of escape were slim.

Determined, Fares decided to use his other talents to empower himself:

3 points added to Strength.3 points added to Endurance.2 points added to Magic.

Magic increased: 2300 / 2000.

A new power surged through his body. His muscles tensed with renewed strength, his endurance allowed him to ignore the pain in his injured leg and shoulder, and a faint magical glow enveloped him, forming an aura that gave him confidence.

—I'm not giving up! —he growled, dodging trees and leaping over gigantic shrubs, ready to face whatever came next.

The creature didn't slow down, but now Fares had a real chance. Every second counted, and the battle for his survival had just begun.

After four minutes of running at top speed, Fares spotted in the distance a river of impossible blue, shining like liquid crystal. Without hesitation, he plunged into the water, swimming with strength and precision. The abomination pursuing him stopped at the river's edge and, surprisingly, turned around, as if the water was its limit. Fares frowned, puzzled but relieved.

Looking down, his heart sank: the river was so deep that the bottom was invisible, wrapped in an almost magical blue hue. Wasting no time, Fares powered every stroke, cutting through the water with the precision of an experienced swimmer. Yet he soon realized the river was a new field of danger: grotesque aquatic creatures stirred beneath the surface, ready to make him their prey.

Reaching the opposite bank, he surged out of the water with dizzying momentum, his breath ragged, cold seeping into every muscle. He shot upward like lightning—like Flash in a dire rush—escaping the infernal river.

But as he turned his head, a gigantic fish—a true monster resembling a three-meter salmon—leapt at him with tremendous force. By miracle or sheer luck, Fares ducked just in time, and the fish crashed five meters away, unable to continue its attack.

Fares was pale; the initial thrill had given way to pure fear. Now he understood the reality: he was the prey. He watched the fish thrash, trying to recover, but failing. Determined, he grabbed a sharp branch protruding from the ground, took a deep breath, and, focusing all his strength, drove it into the fish's eye. The branch pierced the creature's head, and it thrashed one last time before going still.

Fares collapsed to the ground, gasping, his heart hammering in his chest. For a moment, the world seemed to breathe with him; he had survived, but he knew this was just the beginning.

When he lifted his gaze, he noticed the screen had appeared with a new message:

"Congratulations, you have reached Level 2.Exp: 0 → 1000 (Level 2).

⚠️Notice⚠️Each time you earn one thousand experience points, you level up; as your level rises, this goal will increase.

Level: 2Inventory: Acquired: Adult "Estumilona" FishSkill: NoneSkill Talent Points Obtained: +10Achievement Unlocked: Quality Fisherman 🐟"**

Fares couldn't stop smiling. The world was strange… but maybe, just maybe, it was also a blessing.

—As Fares himself had said —he told himself—, "this world is like gifts: you never know when you'll get fifty dollars and when you'll get a sock."

After seeing his reward, he smiled, leaving behind that feeling of terror and prey. He redistributed his talent points: 2 points to each skill, and then prepared a campfire to cook the fish, checking it carefully first, since everything in this world was strange.

Fares noticed that night was approaching. What made the most sense? Building a shelter. Wasting no time, he began gathering giant branches and leaves around him, searching for the largest and sturdiest ones. He took robust sticks and tied them with fibers he stripped from plants, reinforcing the structure with mud. It wasn't the safest, but with luck, it might allow him to survive.

To increase his chances, he smeared himself with mud, masking his scent. Despite staying alert, the night remained relatively calm. He was near the river, and as he had learned, no terrestrial creature ventured closer than ten meters to the water. The fear of the marine beasts—far more dangerous and numerous than the land ones—kept the area surprisingly safe.

After spending the night in his improvised shelter near the river, Fares began adapting to this world. He realized he could use the river to his advantage: no land-based beast would approach within ten meters of the water, as they all feared the marine creatures, far more dangerous than the terrestrial ones.

For several days, he explored the forest, marveling at each species he encountered: strange animals, giant abominations, beings that seemed pulled from a nightmare. Even so, his life was incredibly happy. Far from the society that had mistreated him, he finally felt peace.

However, loneliness gradually crept in. Although he was used to being alone, the desire to find people who valued him remained. During his journeys, he made mental notes of every creature he hunted and observed, building knowledge of this strange ecosystem.

But one day, he encountered that deer-like creature again. His heart raced, but this time he didn't flee. Using cunning, Fares ran toward the animal and began a battle. He used branches and flints he had found near the river, pretending to be defeated to trick the beast.

The deer took the bait and chased him. Fares turned left; the creature followed but tripped over a trap he had prepared. Wasting no time, Fares struck with precision and force, driving his flint so accurately that he decapitated the beast, securing his victory.

The screen appeared automatically.

Fares was astonished to see the name of that rare specimen, but what impressed him the most were the skill options.

—This is literally an RPG game —he exclaimed, thrilled.

—What should I choose? —he thought aloud, uncertainty written all over his face. He sat on the ground, resting a hand on his chin, while a gentle breeze blew, making large leaves fall around him. He was dressed in Motonand fur (an animal resembling a sheep fused with a fox).

—Can I see the description? —he asked himself, and noticed three dots. He pressed one, and the characteristics of each skill appeared:

QUICK REFLEXES: Increases your ability to dodge by 5% and improves your reaction speed by 6%, allowing you to respond faster and more efficiently.

Fares' eyes sparkled, and he exclaimed:

—Wow! This is awesome! It would be perfect for fights or hunting! Let's see the next one…

UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE: Allows you to understand all types of language: human, elvish, dwarvish, and orcish.

Fares was stunned. At that moment, he realized this was definitely like an RPG game.

—What?! Elves, orcs, and dwarves?! This is amazing! It would help me communicate so much! —he shouted, excited.

HUNTER'S VISION: Allows you to notice weak points in any living being or material in a second. Helps you find good prey and improves your aim.

Fares opened his mouth in awe.

—This skill is simply broken… it's so powerful if I combine it with another. But let's keep checking —he said, very excited.

RADAR: Allows you to see enemies within a 3 km² area on your mental map.

Fares was speechless. It was such a powerful skill that he didn't even know what to say.

TAME: Increases the chance to tame a beast by 20%.

Fares smiled nostalgically. If he chose this, he could have a companion to keep him company during lonely nights.

STEALTH: Allows you to hide and move faster while spying.

He laughed to himself, imagining the possibilities.

—No way, kid, they'd call me the mini spy! —he chuckled.

IRON SKIN: Increases the hardness of your body by 20% (can also be applied to a shield).

—A T-34 tank? That would be me! —he laughed while reading.

DANGER DETECTOR: You feel a sharp beep when you're in danger or when someone intends to kill you. (The sharper the beep, the greater the approaching threat.)

He smiled broadly.

—It would be like Spider-Man, but without webs or a MJ —he said, remembering his solitude.

MAXIMUM SPEED: Allows you to run at your top speed without breaking bones.

Fares' eyes shone with excitement.

—It'd be like having the Speed Force, like Flash!

ENDURANCE: Grants you more stamina for running or performing physically demanding actions.

He stroked his chin thoughtfully.

—I'd be invincible… —he whispered to himself.

After reading all the skills, Fares felt even more indecisive. He realized that reading the descriptions had been both a bad idea and an excellent decision at the same time.

After a moment of thought, he looked at the skill panel and smiled widely. The breeze brushed his face as he admired the beautiful sunset reflecting on the deep river.

—I know what I'll choose. I need to survive… no matter what. That's why… —he said, approaching the screen—. I choose you: Hunter's Vision, Radar, and Quick Reflexes —he added, pressing the three options with determination.

A blue light enveloped him, and when it faded, a new screen appeared in front of him:

Acquired: Skills "Hunter's Vision 🏹", "Radar 🧠", and "Quick Reflexes ⚡"

Fares opened his inventory and studied his new skills carefully.

Level: 10Inventory: Sharp flint, Estumilona meat…Skills:

Radar — Lv. 1

Hunter's Vision — Lv. 1

Quick Reflexes — Lv. 1

Seeing that he could level up the skills he had acquired, he grew even more excited. With a wide smile, he set out determined to train and improve, venturing deep into the forest.

A forest inhabited by beasts as dangerous as the Deerddertono… or even worse. Sinister creatures, thirsty for blood, ready to unleash hell upon the quietest corners of the land.
