Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 : Where It All Began

Eden City, once the most peaceful and beautiful city in the world.

Long ago, in the Skyend Galaxy on a planet called Heracles, during the Gold Year 101, a great scientific experiment was being conducted by the Sovereign Nation—the highest authority ruling over the world. Their goal was to create a machine that could harness meteor energy as a form of defense against cosmic threats.

The experiments proceeded smoothly and were successful... until humanity faced a threat they had never encountered before—the largest meteor ever known to mankind: Novarious 777.

It was as large as an entire planet, with incalculable damage potential.

As this terrifying meteor hurtled toward Planet Heracles, all hope seemed lost. That is, until, in a final, desperate effort, the Sovereign Nation harnessed all the power of their meteorite technology to fight back.

Though the meteor was successfully pushed back, fragments of it fell onto the planet, destroying half of a certain city—Eden City.

The damage from the falling meteorite led to the deaths of over 100 million people and rendered the land poisonous, desolate, and unstable—uninhabitable.

The Sovereign Nation, feeling responsible for the catastrophe, rebuilt the remaining unaffected half of Eden City. Over the next 20 years, they transformed the unaffected half of the city using their advanced technology.

However, 10 years after they departed the city, an unusual phenomenon was discovered. Survivors who had migrated from the destroyed half of the city began exhibiting strange powers: the ability to control objects with their minds (Telekinesis), read thoughts (Telepathy), teleport, and very few that could even fly.

These individuals were called Psions, and their power was known as Psyche.

At first, it was a period of peace. The Psions helped Eden City become the most successful city in the Mid Region. No country, not even the one Eden City was situated in, could oppose them. Eden City eventually grew so powerful that it became an individual Nation—Eden Country.

All of this was accomplished under the leadership of Muriem, the strongest Psion.

He ensured a time of peace, where all citizens could live good lives, free from worries.

Everything was good and prosperous until one day, an unexpected event took place. A group of Psions staged a revolt and killed the current leader.

After the leader's death, things took a drastic turn. The Psions became divided, with the most powerful of them taking control of different sections of Eden Country.

Soon after, they began demanding protection fees and tributes from the sectors they now ruled.

The city they had once protected, they now terrorized.

Those who were unable to pay the tribute or protection fees were either killed or taken as slaves—the males as laborers and the females as property.

In some sectors, the weaker Psions, without a sector to rule, began robbing, killing, committing sexual assault, and carrying out other heinous crimes.

The once-great country had descended into chaos and violence.

Those who could not bear the torment tried to protest, but they were all killed.

In order to search for freedom, some brave individuals, through sacrifice, managed to contact the Sovereign Nation.

But their hopes were destroyed when they found out the truth.

Apparently, the Sovereign Nation was responsible for the revolt and the killing of the Psion leader, Muriem.

It turned out that Muriem had refused to give the Sovereign Nation access to Eden's growing resources. He had begun to develop the country independently.

To stop his expansion, the Sovereign Nation contacted a group of greedy and jealous Psions, promising them power and wealth in exchange for assassinating their leader.

Knowing how powerful Muriem and those directly under him were, the Sovereign Nation provided the conspirators with Psyche Dampeners—devices capable of temporarily disabling a Psion's powers.

Once the plan was ready, the traitorous Psions rallied a small group under them and attacked the leader and his subordinates.

After a fierce battle, they were defeated.

Realizing they couldn't overpower Muriem and his inner circle, they activated the Psyche Dampeners, disabling everyone's powers.

Even without his powers, the leader—still stronger than most—fought back and defeated them.

But just as he was about to deliver their punishment for betrayal, he was stabbed in the back by one of his most trusted subordinates and killed.

Immediately after his death, the remaining loyal subordinates were ambushed and killed, with only a few managing to escape.

Not long after, the traitorous Psions seized control of the city.

Years later, after the coup, the Sovereign Alliance reached out to the now chaotic city, requesting an alliance.

Due to the new minerals discovered in the destroyed half of the country, the Sovereign Nation saw value in partnering with the new leaders of Eden Country to trade for the mineral resources.

These minerals were fragments from the Novarious 777 attack.

They could be used to create various resources that enabled major scientific breakthroughs and also served as a stable energy source.

The Psions were unable to extract the minerals themselves. Seeing no other option, they accepted the Sovereign Nation's offer. In exchange for the minerals, the Sovereign Nation provided food and technology to maintain the city.

Eventually, Eden Country became weak and lost its status as a nation. It became known simply as Hades City—The City of the Damned.

Ten years later, a new development shook the world. The Sovereign Nation created a special drug called Psyche V-9. When used, it could temporarily grant anyone the ability to use Psyche. It was secretly smuggled into Hades City by people from outside who wanted to help its citizens fight against the Psions.

But there was a catch. The drug shortened one's lifespan and was only effective against weaker Psions. Still, for many people, it was worth the risk.

As time passed, the situation grew more chaotic. Regular Criminals began using the drug to commit crimes. Unable to cope with the changes, people who were once fighting against the psions now began turning to crime to survive. Eventually, a curfew was enforced by the human authorities appointed by the Psion leaders.

The curfew was put in place to reduce the slaughter of too many people.
