Chapter 14
Lexi's POV
I walked out of the throne room together with Henry ," What's our next move,my Lord" Henry questioned. The weight of the meeting's discussions on my shoulders. As commander of the Elite Hunters, the burden of protecting the kingdom against the vampire-werewolf alliance was mine to bear. " Later at twilight, intense training begins" I replied without sparing him a glance. I headed towards my chambers, lost in thought about strategies and preparations.
As I turned a corner in the palace corridors, I nearly collided with Princess Diana. She was standing close, her eyes locked on mine with an intensity. The princess pursuit of me has become a problem.
"Lexi," she breathed, her voice husky. She took a step closer, her slender figure moving with a grace that was almost feline. "I've been looking for you."
I kept a formal distance, my instincts telling me to be cautious. "My lady," I said, using the proper address. "I was just heading to my chambers."
Princess Diana's gaze lingered on mine, her lips parting slightly as she seemed to drink in my presence. "I could join you," she said, her voice dropping to a whisper. "We could... talk about things. In private."
I felt a flicker of discomfort at her suggestive tone. The princess's advances were tireless, and while some might find her persistence attractive, I found it intrusive. I might have slept with countless women but I don't like women who throw themselves at men. I prefer wild women, cats hard to tame.
I pushed her away gently but firmly, my hands on her shoulders to create distance.
"My lady, I'm afraid I must decline," I said, my voice firm but polite. "I have much to attend to regarding the kingdom's safety. Alone."
Princess Diana's face showed a flash of frustration before she masked it with a sultry smile. "So serious, Lexi," she murmured, taking a step back but not giving up. "Can't you see I want to be close to you?"
I shook my head slightly. "My duty is to the kingdom, my lady. Not to personal pursuits."
With a slight nod, I turned to leave, ending the encounter. Princess Diana watched me go, her eyes lingering on me before she turned away with a hint of pique.
I reached my chambers, relieved to be away from the princess's determined advances. My thoughts returned to the looming threat of the vampire-werewolf alliance and the preparations needed.
