Chapter 2 - Huh? Transmigration...?

"Huh."

"What the hell, what do you mean I got transmigrated?"

Kael questioned his so-called system when it mentioned that he had just been transmigrated into another world—a fantasy one, at that.

He didn't believe it at first, and who would even want to believe some random shit like this? Of course, only stupid people would, and Kael believed he wasn't one of them.

That's why he kept asking the same question again and again after waking up in this strange place… Well, calling it "strange" might be too much. It looked nothing more than a dorm room.

At first, he thought maybe he'd been kidnapped, but thank god he wasn't. Otherwise… sigh.

Anyway, he had been pestering his system so much that even the soulless thing seemed tired of answering him… (God help that poor system.)

[Are you dumb?]

Finally, the system had enough of his nonsense.

"What? How dare you say that, huh?"

Clearly offended, Kael tried to come up with words that might sting his system back.

[Like I've already told you, you've been transmigrated into the world of sword and magic—a fantasy world.]

"Ha… for real? What the hell do you mean by I got transmigrated? Does that mean I died or something? That's what I wanna know, bitch."

[Oh, so that's what you meant. You could've asked me that directly instead of beating around the bush.]

"Oh shut up. If you'd just used your brain, you would've understood. But oh well, looks like you got none, haha…"

Well, here we go again. The bickering started up, but this time the system had no intention of dragging it out.

[Sigh… Fine. Yes, you did die. And that's why you were brought here.]

Though the information was cold, unexpectedly, Kael was very calm. And in that calmness, he questioned again.

"Hm… Why only me though? Lots of people die out there, right? So why me? Hm…?"

[Why you…? To be honest, even I don't have that information. Even I want to know—why you, and why I have to be with you.]

The system spoke the truth. At least, that's what it sounded like. Kael wasn't sure if this so-called system was being honest or just lying…

But right now, he had nothing else to rely on. So, for now, he had to put a little trust in this suspicious entity—a system.

"Okay so… what's the briefing? Got any?"

[What?]

Not understanding what his host meant, the system questioned him back in its flat tone.

Slap!

Slapping his forehead, Kael already felt tired of this system. But he knew if he wanted to start anew, he needed to be sure of everything—anything possible.

"Anything on me? Like quests or missions or something? Is there… no?"

[Oh… no. For now, there isn't anything like that. Just live however you want.]

'Oh damn… so I've got freedom to do anything, huh? But what should I even do…?'

After thinking for a moment, another question popped into his head.

"Hey… let's say I can do whatever I want, yeah. But what the actual fuck am I supposed to do? I don't even know anything about this world!"

He threw out his questions in quick succession. He expected another dismissive answer, but unexpectedly, he got a solution.

[Well, about that… check your 'system inventory.' You'll find a tutorial book there: {Basic Book of This World}, and—]

"Is this the one you're talking about?"

[…]

"What?"

Though being interrupted felt rude, the system just sighed and continued explaining.

[Yes, that one. Inside it, you'll find basic information about this world—daily life, common knowledge, a bit of history that everyone should know, and also things about monsters and fighters.]

"Damn… so many things. Tell me more!"

[If I'm the one telling you everything, then what's the point of the book? Go read it yourself. I'm shutting down for now. Bye.]

"Heyyy, wait!!"

"…"

Getting no response, Kael decided to read the book by himself. He had no choice. He looked at the book, titled {The Book of All Basic}.

sigh

"So now, I have to read this till the end huh… argh, I'm already feeling the headache." Looking at the thick book, he thought about how nice it would be if someone could just explain things like the system did instead of wasting time reading. (In fact, he's just a lazy ass SOB who doesn't want to read.)

He sighed and sat on the bed, but before opening the book, he took a look at his own room—well, from now on, that is.

From the bed, at the left side, was the door, the window was on the right side, and straight ahead was the door for… "for what?"

Putting aside the book, Kael quickly got up from bed and stormed that door, and as expected, it was for the bathroom and toilet. Both were separated.

While in the middle of checking things, he finally noticed something. On the mirror, there was a face of an unfamiliar person.

'A teenager?' Kael thought, getting closer to the mirror and squinting his eyes even more. The teenager in the mirror did the same—because him, Kael, and the teenager in the mirror were the same person.

"Damn… he looks better—I mean, now I look better than in my previous life… wow…"

He exclaimed, looking at his new face, which was, from his point of view, way more good-looking than before.

Slap!

He suddenly slapped his own cheeks, both red from the hit. "Sigh Kael, don't be so happy. This isn't mine, so I gotta be careful," he said to himself, and got out of the bathroom the next instant.

As he got out of the bathroom, to his left was a table-chair set. "For studying?" he concluded, as there were many books placed on top of the table. And there was— "PHONE!!"

Yes, a phone. Kael quickly grabbed it, only to be shocked because the phone was locked!

"What! Fuck, now how do I unlock it?"

He thought about formatting the phone itself since he knew some tricks, but it was risky.

'There might be important information on this device. I can't just format the phone.'

"Ha… even this is useless for now, shit!"

Another thing he noticed about himself was— 'I don't even know anything about this owner of this body. Sigh… how am I supposed to live my life as him? I can't just live however I want even if I want to. If this is a fantasy world, then there might be things like demons who take over a human body, and what happens to them? Death. If they get found out, no mercy at all.'

Kael looked at the phone. It showed 3:37 p.m. Looking helplessly, he put it back on the table and grabbed a notebook instead.

"Hmm… Kael Morwin huh. So this body is also named Kael. At least I got something useful this time, and…" After knowing the owner of this body had the same name, he quickly understood the reason he had been transmigrated into this body… maybe. But as he flipped through the notebook, he frowned because the whole thing was blank.

"The fuck! Aghh, who the fuck only writes their name on a notebook and nothing else, goddamn it!!"

He slammed the notebook on the table, and grabbed a book this time, titled {The History of Lunius Continent}.

'Lunius continent! This… this sounds familiar.' He slowly flipped through the first page. Nothing important. Then second, third, fourth… and finally, after the fourth flip, there was content in the book—

--Content--

1. About the Lunius Continent

2. The Great Apocalypse

3. Rise of Humanity

4. The Fall of the Demon King

5. Development of the Human Empires

There were just five contents, but the book was 10 cm thick. Who would even want to read this stuff? Of course, nerds. And Kael strongly believed he wasn't one, because he sucked at studying and something like remembering, a history subject, is the worst. Though he liked reading—but only fiction.

He closed the book, put it down, and grabbed another, titled {The Savior Academy}. 'Academy? This too feels familiar.' He skimmed through the pages and started reading, since it was just a slim book.

---

After 20 minutes of carefully reading the book {The Savior Academy}, he understood the whole thing.

That, It was nothing more than info about the academy, like when it was founded, its founding members, its foundation, previous and current principal, professors, and so on.

-Principal Profile-

Name: Hermes Luke

Age: 68

Class: Magician

Level: Grandeur

'For real, this principal, Hermes Luke… wasn't there a character with the same name in a novel? And he was also the principal of the Savior Academy… Lunius Continent…ah! [Hero, The Savior]… damn!!'

Kael's current look seemed like he had just achieved enlightenment. He put the book back on the table, quickly jumped onto the bed, and grabbed the tutorial book given by the system.

"Looks like it's finally time for reading this."
