Nathan neglected what Henry said, then gripped the door handle where the wife and child were trapped on then yanked it off.
At this point, Henry, realizing Nathan wouldn't leave without saving the child and wife, decided to advance with his plan, he had got hold of alaric and that's the main thing he was concerned about.
Henry carried the already unconscious Alaric toward the car they had parked, then put him inside and locked the door. But he made sure he tied his body, so he wouldn't wake up and attack him.
"You're safe now, ma'am," Nathan said gently after pulling Alaric's wife and child out of the car, and taking them to safety.
"Why did you save us?" she asked.
Alaric's wife had seen Nathan as their enemy and she wasn't expecting him to help her.
Nathan smiled at her words, then shifted his gaze to the little ten-year-old boy standing beside her slightly bleeding from his nose.
And just as Nathan eyes met with the boy, In an instant, a surge of memories cut through his head like a blade of pain.
"Ahhhhhh!"
Nathan clutched his head and fell to the ground.
"These… memories are the mine as well?" Nathan spoke through gritted teeth.
The pain soon faded, and when he looked back at the woman, he saw she was already terrified, and shaking. Though he didn't know why, could she be afraid of something she had experienced while he was clutching his head?
"Please, don't kill us," she begged.
Nathan wasn't a killer, neither was he a monster. Hearing her words made him wonder if he had truly turned into something else.
And just then—
Boom!
An explosion thundered. The car they had tried to drive away with that ended up crashing erupted from the exposed fuel tank that had been leaking.
"Wow!"
The little boy's eyes widened, he wasn't scared but stunned by the beautiful view of the explosion.
Moments later, Henry drove up toward Nathan in the car they had came with. Nathan thought Henry had left him.
"Get in, Lord Nathan!" Henry shouted.
"Where are you taking my husband?" the woman tried to stand, but she fell back to the ground, her ankle twisted.
Nathan stood, ran toward the car, and climbed inside. They sped away under the woman's tearful eyes, begging for answers.
The mission had been successfully executed perfectly without getting caught by the police.
While driving toward their destination, which is the underground chamber, Nathan shifted his gaze to the man they had captured, his mouth gagged
"Hope we won't hurt him? It's just answers we would retrieve from him right?" Nathan asked.
"Of course, we won't, just the answer and we are done. But that depends on him though. If he fails to cooperate, then we'll have no choice but to do the needful—which is torture," Henry said.
"Torture? But—" Nathan began, but Henry's voice cut in.
"Listen, Nathan. I made a promise to your father, and I intend to fulfill it, even though you won't participate in this revenge mission, I wouldn't mind doing it alone. What they did to your father was ruthless and they deserve nothing but death. Join me or watch me do it. I have one thing to achieve here."
Nathan, hearing what Henry said, only nodded, then cut his stare away.
"There's something I wanted to ask," Nathan said, shifting his gaze back to Henry. "When those men were shooting, I saw the bullets in slow motion. And I was able to summon bursts of flames from my hands which I used in bringing them down. Can you at least describe this phenomenon? since you know a few things about me?"
Nathan had never killed anyone before, but today he had. And it left a mark in his heart—a mark of confusion and guilt. And Henry, on the other hand, had no idea that Nathan was able to do something of that nature.
"So, he can do that too…" Henry thought inwardly looking pale.
"Thomas was truly a genius. His experiment was a complete success." Henry smiled openly at the thought.
A few hours later, they reached the underground entrance and went inside. Alaric was placed in a room, his body chained completely to a chair, preventing him from moving.
The next day, the door swung open and Henry stepped inside. He had already instructed Nathan not to intervene in the interrogation, but only to watch.
"Where can I find Leonard?" Henry's first question rang out.
Alaric raised his head slowly. By this time he had already regained consciousness.
"What business do you have with Leonard that you're asking me of his location? And besides, where the hell are mine?" Alaric barked but his voice slowly broke, still feeling weak, his head unstable as it staggered sideways.
"Don't think you can play stubborn with me. You'll only get yourself hurt."
"I'll ask for the second time. Where can I find Leonard?" Henry repeated.
"I don't fucking know!" Alaric shouted back.
Henry's face darkened. He lashed out, grabbing Alaric by the throat and strangling him.
"Do you prefer dying over talking? You have a kid and a wife, don't you? Don't you want to be with them again?"
After saying this, Henry released his grip. Alaric sucked in a deep breath before exhaling heavily.
"What do you want with Leonard?" Alaric asked.
"That shouldn't be your concern. Just tell me his location," Henry demanded, his brow furrowing.
"It should be my concern, because I'm a cop. And you damn well know you've gotten yourself into a big mess. They'll come looking for me, and when they find me, they find you and you will spend The rest of your miserable life in jail."
Alaric still wasn't ready to talk, and this annoyed Henry enough that he decided to carry out what he had planned, which is torture and by using high electricity to electrocute alaric.
"I guess I'll have to do this the old-fashioned way. Since you don't want to cooperate…" Henry smirked, then walked to the side of the room.
Within seconds, he was seen pushing a chair covered in black cloth. He placed it in front of Alaric and yanked the covering away, revealing something so terrifying that Alaric flinched, struggling violently against the chains restraining him to the chair, trying to loose out.
