Chapter 12 - 12: Behind The Story

"So, how's he?" a husky voice chimes through the call. Cirrus glares at a figure; sitting calmly while munching on orange wedges.

"Nothing much. He's okay, probably just passed out because of the shock," Cirrus replies. "Oh, apologize for my harsh treatment. Your scent blends well with him. The compatibility must be more than 85 percent. So, when I performed the extraction, he was in agony."

The call goes silent.

"It's not my fault entirely. You know that..." Cirrus sneers.

"Okay, I do admit that I went overboard that night. But, how can I hold myself when he looks like that?" A soft giggle escapes through the speaker.

"You mean, looking like a corpse?"

"Why are you saying that? Is he sick?" There's a layer of concern within the voice. "Snap a picture of him."

Cirrus rolls his eyes. He nonchalantly snaps a picture of Ezra; coincidentally, the Omega is yawning. He then sent the picture to the caller.

"There you go. Your obnoxious Omega," Cirrus scoffs a bit.

"Make sure he eats well and rests. He indeed looks like a sick cub. He must be under stress..."

"I wonder why..."

"Cir, come on..." the caller begs. "Keep your sarcastic tone for Pein. She would love to fight that."

Cirrus sighs, toasting away his cigarette bud. "I'll be back in three days," he diverts the conversation, straight back into the business.

"Fine. Make sure he's healthy before he comes. Oh, did you tell Tul about the extended stay?"

"I did..." Cirrus's tone is getting heavier. "Hope nothing goes wrong. He needs me more than anything right now."

The call ends after a few chats.

Two weeks ago, Cirrus was summoned back to the main house while he was on his way to the other part of the town. Managing the hotel chains—plus his job as the Cupid Beta—requires him to travel, thus he leaves his Omega under the care of Omega Mei. So, when he got the call, he hastily dashed back home—afraid for Tul's health—only to find out the trouble was caused by none other than the naughty Golden Alpha, Thongfa.

He was having his rut, but this time, it's a serious one.

Lines of doctors came and checked on him, but they couldn't help Fa. He rejected all the Omegas that they offered to him, and kept chanting a name.

One and only name.

Cirrus knows who the owner of the name is. He is an Omega that Fa is having a secret relationship with. No one knows about it, because it's an online relationship. Plus, that naughty ass Golden Alpha has another solid reason to hide it:

He imposes himself as a female Alpha, using a feminine name as the handle.

Sora.

Which means sky; also happens to be the meaning of his name in his late mother's native language.

Cirrus knows only a bit about the Omega, but more about how Fa is crazy over him. For five years, they connected through an MMORPG called MewMew Land. At first, Cirrus thought, it was just a phase for a young adult like Fa. It's normal in the world of technology to have friends online.

So, he just let him have what he wants.

Besides, the relationship didn't affect his daily routine; he's still a first-ranking student at school, willing to help his father at the company, and enrolled in the best college in town.

Everything changed when Fa reached twenty-one. A normal Alpha must already hunting or looking for an Omega to be marked. That all happens to any Alphas, as young as eighteen. But, Fa has no interest in any, even daringly rejecting some well-known Omega celebrities. With his looks and wealth, he can have anyone. But, he chose to be single; sleep around only when he had his ruts.

So, one day, he arranged a blind date for Fa. With the help of Omega Mei and Tul, they introduced him to a sexy Omega named Mari. On his way to the date, he threw a fit, scolding them for good.

That's when he spilled something critical to Cirrus; he and that unknown Omega are married online, and now he is planning to marry him in real life!

Of course, it's something bizarre for Cirrus! How can someone get married online, plus, for three years! Talking about having a major case of crazy, impossible LDR in the most ridiculous state ever! Not to mention, that super masculine Golden Alpha is willing to act as the wife!

Not only that, Fa also told Cirrus that they always exchange gifts through parcel mail. And he always sends that unknown figure some gems for the game.

Cirrus was concerned about the risk of Fa getting catfished. So he did a background check on this young Omega. Turns out to be, this so-called online husband of Fa is a student of the most prestigious academy for Omegas called Ou Academy. It happens that Omega Mei is an alumnus. So, he decided to ask for her help.

But, that lovesick Golden Alpha insisted on meeting this Omega first before allowing anyone to take the next step. So, Cirrus flew Fa to the Kwi Nation and searched for the academy. They went back and forth from A Nation to the Kwi Nation at least four times, until they had enough information about the Omega.

As things got hotter between Fa and that unknown young Omega—online—Cirrus made an important discovery; that Omega always sneaks out at night to play basketball with a bunch of Alphas and Betas from the other school. Through his intel, he always comes with his friend; another male Omega, who his twin is also on the same team as them. Thus, he decided to skim around the hood first. Watching them from afar.

And when the time came, he brought Cirrus to the gym to meet his online husband for the first time in real life.

As soon as his eyes landed on the Omega, Fa couldn't help but fall for him, from head to toe. He looks cute but masculine at the same time; not too chunky yet not too skinny. What makes Fa fall more is his cheerful attitude. He keeps smiling, even though he almost passed out in court.

So, Fa arranged a strategy with Cirrus. That male Beta will act as a diversion, while he tries to get close to that Omega. He got his chance during the second game; where he smeared his pheromone on that Omega's body. He targeted almost all vital parts of that body; mainly near the pheromone gland.

A mark to reserve the Omega so he won't go to anyone else.

But, in the midst of happiness, somehow Fa felt guilty for causing the Omega to experience his first rut before The Graduation. That's why, when he proposed the eloped plan, Fa instantly agreed. He arranged everything within a short period of time; passport, jet, hotel, and how to reason with the elders of the Sarin.

However, that night, when he was ready to leave A Nation, he suddenly experienced his rut. He collapsed on the stairs of the jet, screaming in agony for his Omega. At that state, Fa was not eligible to fly due to some safety reasons. So, the mission aborted.

That's when they called Cirrus. And, being a good friend of Fa, he still keeps the secret from the family members. While having some thoughts, Cirrus decided to ask Omega Mei to find someone from her former academy, using some praises as an excuse for choosing an academy that is miles away from A Nation. Leaving with no choice, Omega Mei agreed. She reached out to the academy and announced her visitation.

During the visitation, Cirrus decided to lurk around the academy, looking for that Omega while Omega Mei was having a meeting with Principal Star. His guide was through the scents that Fa left on the Omega's body. Unlike any Beta who has no reaction or effect to pheromones, Cirrus is like a watchdog. The Cupid Beta lives up to his name through countless scents tracing practices. So, this job was a piece of cake for him.

When he found him, he happened to know that the Omega had injured his leg. To find out the cause of it, Cirrus chose a simple method; asking people around. Turned out that the Omega was having an accident, the same night as Fa was having his major rut.

So, destiny plays them two, putting a test even before they get together!

What a tragedy!

On his way back to the accommodation, Cirrus made a calculation. The compatibility is 95 percent. So, unmistakably, these two love-sick are a match. However, a question arose. Is that because of the destiny? As far as what Cirrus sees, it probably wasn't the case. Or perhaps maybe Fa smeared his pheromone, that he changed the course?

So, with the permission from Fa, Cirrus conducted The Extraction; when he extracted Fa's pheromone from Q's body. He had to do it to prove his theory; if they are indeed having 95% compatibility, that means, Fa and Q are indeed a couple and Fa can proceed with his plan. It is an agony procedure, only done by those who want to unmark their mate. Not only is it painful, but cruel as well. Especially, when you do it by force.

This is the part that Cirrus hates the most while being a Cupid Beta.

He stares at the Omega who stirs next to him. Feeling the pain through the silence of the night. The red thread that binds the wrist is the aftermath of that cruel procedure. Cirrus blames no one for that. That's the destiny that he needs to accept after four years of being together.

The eyes slowly open; bulging red. Tears flow slowly as those lips gap open.

"Cir..." Tul's coarse voice somehow sounds like a sad melody to Cirrus. The Omega grabs his wrist, sobbing silently between his words. "I'm sorry..."

"Hey, it's fine..." Cirrus lies down, facing Tul while wiping away those tears from his cheek. "It's your body that was asking. You can't control it. It's dangerous for you..."

Tul blinks his eyes, staring at that face. Cirrus might look like a grim reaper; dark vibes, evil gaze, plus, he rarely smiles. But, for Tul, this so-called ruthless Cupid is his saviour, the one who truly loves him inside and out.

"Let's do it again, okay? If you're tired, we can go slow..." says Cirrus. He can sense turbulence in Tul. His fingers are shaking while holding his hand just now. Cirrus knows, it's time for him to satisfy his Omega. His heat comes frequently lately, so it's Cirrus's responsibility to handle it.

From there, a long session begins. The room fills with lust; whimpers, cries, and gasps tarnish every particle of air in it. Cirrus promises to do it slowly, but Tul; being on heat, gradually raises the intensity. Cirrus makes a mental note to himself:

He has to be in shape for the rest of the week.
