Chapter 17 - 17: The Red Binder Curse

"Ugh... I don't get it...!"

Ezra flops his head on the table. The equation in front of him makes his head dizzy. Additional mathematics has always been his enemy. Unlike most of his classmates who chose Chemistry as the most horrifying subject of all, Ezra and Additional Mathematics are not in sync.

"Which part did you not understand? I think, this question is almost the same as the previous one," the tutor frowns, looking at the worksheet in front of them.

"That's what I thought, until I mess up and now, I don't know which part I did wrong" Ezra gushes. He tries to check the question again, but later gives up and whines.

"Why can I indulge the lesson? I am not like this before!"

"Perhaps, you need to change the view? Maybe we can take the lesson somewhere else?" the female Beta tutor suggests.

"No! There's no way I would let anyone see me being so stupid like this!" Ezra cries. He scratches his messy hair and almost chews the pencil in his hand.

A knock on the door startles both of them. The Beta tutor lifts her head to check who is coming. Ezra is still working hard on the worksheet, and he ignores the visitor totally.

Perhaps, it's just a helper Beta who brings some snacks for us!

"You miss a bracket at the other side..."

The voice makes him yelp in shock. The pencil almost broke in two. The owner of the voice leans closer, his chin almost touching Ezra's shoulder. The faint scent of blood orange abuses his nostrils, calming the messed-up young Omega.

One thing that Fa deserves praise from Ezra for is, the Golden Alpha knows how to control the release of his pheromone. When he's around Ezra, only a faint amount of blood orange scent lingers around that Omega. Fa supplies only the amount needed to calm the Omega. It's just his perverted tendency that makes Ezra antsy and mad all the time.

"Where did I miss the bracket?" Ezra musters his will and throws away his ego to seek help from this Golden Alpha. He has a reputation as the best student in his faculty; Dentistry. So, it is worth asking for help.

Like Tish said before, it's not hurt to ask for a little help!

Ezra will utilize this chance!

"Here. This is the part where you need to put a bracket. Solve that first, then insert the answer into the equation," Fa softly grabs the pencil from Ezra's hand and scribbles onto the worksheet.

"See? Is this the answer? Check your answer sheet."

Ezra grabs the answer sheet, checking for the answer.

"Hey! It's correct!"

Fa smiles, checking on Ezra's reaction flicks his heart a bit. "Okay, let's do the next one..."

Both of them join forces, studying the question meticulously. Once in a while, they are discussing within themselves about the question. The two totally forget about the Beta tutor who is still in the room, right in front of them, now, in a fangirl mode.

"It's... correct again!" Ezra gasps and shrieks in happiness. Fa smiles as he nods at him.

"You two are indeed a heaven-matched couple!" The Beta tutor speaks up. "Omega Ezra was lost before you came, Alpha Fa. Now, he becomes lively, thanks to you!"

The comment caused the love flower to bloom in Fa's heart. He somehow feels reliable to his lover. Silently, he prays that there's a slight hope for love from Ezra.

"Says who? I... maybe I am tired!" Ezra quickly revokes the comment. He nudges Fa a bit away from him, with his crimson face visible to Fa's eyes.

"Oho, say the one who whined and cried like a baby just now!"

Ezra shushed the Beta tutor, pleading with her to stop. He pouts as he goes back to his worksheet. Fa helplessly laughs, captivated by the cuteness overload of his Omega.

As the tutor session is ongoing, Fa feels a tingling sensation coming through. His forehead crinkles as the air seems to feel odd. He steps away from Ezra, walking calmly to the door and opens it.

He sees Cirrus, talking to Mei. At a glance, he senses something is not right.

When Cirrus hastily leaves the mansion with Tul—all dressed up in a black hoodie—Mei turns her head and gives Fa a meaningful stare. Fa turns his head to Ezra, who is still focusing on his worksheet.

"Bring him along. I know you might need him," says Mei.

Fa nods, turns back into the room.

"Something's up. Can we reschedule the session? I need my Omega now."

"Su..sure..." The tutor Beta stands up and starts packing.

"What do you mean you need me? Don't tell me you're in a rut!" Ezra shrieks softly at Fa. That Golden Alpha looks at him calmly, although there's a distress in his gaze.

"Believe me, you might wanna follow me this time..." Fa tries to grab Ezra's hand so they can leave as fast as they can. But, the Omega still has a trust issue with him, so he yanks his hand away.

Fa apologized in silence. Yet he doesn't budge from his spot. The look in his eyes becomes more and more desperate as if he can't wait even for a second anymore.

"We need to hurry, now..."

Looking at the changes in Fa's tune, Ezra slowly gives up. He throws his ego away and tries to put trust in him.

Only this time!

"Don't tell me we're going to the beach in this weather!" Ezra exclaims. The sports car drives along the beach, almost all the time, and only Ezra's voice serenades in it.

Fa's eyes were wildly searching for something. He knows, this is exactly the place that Cirrus told him. Maybe another mile to go? He keeps pressing the gas pedal. Praying every second that he is not too late.

"Is that...?" Fa is on alert when Ezra points to a Black Mustang that has been parked at the beach. The car looks abandoned, with no other sight of anyone near it. Fa makes a sharp corner, turning the car to the opposite direction before he parks the car and jumps out of it. Ezra, still clueless, pursues the Golden Alpha from behind.

Fa takes out a small, black box from the hood of the car. He checks the content before closing it tightly. Then, his eyes roam over Ezra.

"This might be a shocker to you, but I have no other choice but to ask you to tag along. I mean it when I said I need you," Fa grabs Ezra's shoulder. It's unlike usual; no naughty thoughts, no perverted tendency. The grip feels heavy, as if the Omega is everything to Fa. As if they were saying goodbye.

Ezra chokes in a sudden overwhelming feeling.

"I'm asking you to trust me. Can you do that?" Fa's inquiry makes Ezra form a gap in his mouth. Gradually, the young Omega nods his head. A green light for Fa to take the next step.

Fa's lips are moving in silence. He is chanting some words that Ezra can't even hear. He closes his eyes, and when he opens the lid, his eyes turn flashing red. With a slim, well-taken index finger, Fa draws something on Ezra's forehead.

"Shut your eyes, and when I'm calling your name, you may open them," with a soft tune, Fa directs Ezra. The Omega shuts his eyelids tight, waiting for Fa to call his name.

Fa lands a soft peck on Ezra's lips, treasuring the moment, just in case he might lose the chance. The obedient Omega doesn't flinch this time, which is good.

"Ezra Sarin, open your eyes now."

Ezra Sarin—the name given to this Golden Alpha—causes a soft gurgling in Ezra. It feels surreal now; he one of the Sarin. As he opens his eyes...

"What the—!?"

The blue sky that he sees before turns darker. The wind blasted so strongly, Ezra almost failed to see what was in front of him. He holds onto Fa, his grip is so tight.

"It's fine. Just keep calm and take a small step," says Fa. He untangles the grip and pushes Ezra up front. The young Omega tries his best to stay stable.

As he turns around, he sees an altar; covered with some sheer white clothes. Two people were on that altar; doing some aggressive movement.

"Why are they naked?" asks Ezra. He runs forward, moving a bit closer before he stops midway.

Fa casually walks towards his Omega with the black box in his hand. When he reaches the spot where Ezra is standing, he can't help but chuckle.

"Don't tell me they're... mating?" A gap forms from Ezra's mouth. Then, he covers his eyes with his hand and grimaces.

"They're breeding. Mating is more... lighter," says Fa.

"Tell me something..." Ezra turns his body, facing Fa. "Why are we here? Why are we watching them breeding?" he almost cries out of embarrassment.

Fa suddenly grabs Omega's hand. He ignores the question, instead, he drags Ezra to the spot.

"Listen, Ezra. When I give you a signal, pierce this into Tul's gland. Do it fast, and stay focused," Fa hands out a syringe made out of pewter. It is heavy, as if Ezra is holding a steel bar. Then, the two run towards the altar together.

"What the—!" Ezra jumps in shock at a sight in front of him. A creature—in the form of a vicious lion caught in fire—is standing on Cirrus; the body is between the gap of his back legs. Its tongue presses against the Beta's neck, sucking out something from the body. Cirrus's eyes turn white, as his mouth hangs open, gasping for air.

"Yarh, what is that?!" Ezra yelps in shock.

"That's Omega Tul... in a Red Binder curse form..." says Fa. He opens the black box, takes out a long metal chain, and chants something on it before the chain flies to Tul. Fa yanks it tight, as the chain binds onto Tul's neck.

He screams in agony.

Then, with a pair of blazing red eyes, Fa clamps the chain, chanting once again. The tug game continues as both Fa and Tul keep their feet on the ground.

"Ezra! Drags Cir away from the altar!"

Ezra—though still in fear—musters himself and runs towards Cirrus. But, Tul—still in guarding mode—smacks the Omega away, causing him to fly a few feet away from Cirrus.

"Ezra!" Fa screams as he tries to help his Omega. But, he is still in the middle of a tug game, so there's nothing he can't do. He yanks the chain to the other side, moving slowly as he tries to tame the monster Tul.

"Ezra! The syringe! Hurry!"

Ezra quickly jumps to his feet. He makes a simple calculation; measuring the length of the space that he should take to reach the spot flawlessly.

"Just like basketball... just like basketball!" Ezra chants repeatedly. He takes a deep breath before rushing towards Tul, grabs his shoulder, and stabs the syringe into the Omega's gland.

Tul screams in pain; the red string on his wrist snaps into pieces as the wind violently blows. Ezra is still hanging on to his dear life at the syringe, shutting his eyes tight. Slowly, Tul's form changed back to normal. The Omega falls on his knees, crying his eyes out.

"It's okay. You're okay now..." Ezra holds on to Tul's body, hugging him tight. The Omega scream is getting louder as his eyes lay on the altar.

"Cirrus! Cir!"

Fa—already exhausted from the tug game—walks with his wobbly legs towards Cirrus. The Beta is lying unconsciously on the altar.

"Cirrus, wake up! Hey!" Fa slaps his cheek, but the body remains stoic and cold. That Golden Alpha pumps Cirrus's chest, doing everything he can to save his cousin.

Cirrus remained unresponsive.

"I killed him! I killed Cir!"

"Calm down, Omega Tul. Everything will be just fine..." Ezra rubs the Omega's forearm. He is wailing loudly, the feeling of losing Cirrus is surreal now.

Fa snaps his finger with the remaining energy. Everything turns back to normal. Two figures are running towards them from afar.

They're Peinaire and Caspian.

"Pein!" Fa stands up, but he is staggering upfront. Caspian grabs the Golden Alpha, helping him with the dizziness while Peinaire is checking Cirrus.

"Hospital! Now!"
