Cassian sat on the comfortable sofa in the room, with Lilith pretending to sleep on his lap.
Lilith's white, silk-like hair flowed through his fingers.
While his hand involuntarily and rhythmically stroked her hair, his mind was in a completely different war.
"What the hell am I doing?" he asked himself. This entity in front of him was the source of the curse that ruined his life.
And now, she was curled up in his lap like a cat, pretending to be innocent. And worst of all, Cassian was allowing it.
He broke the silence with his own voice.
"Lilith."
Lilith answered as if mumbling, without opening her eyes.
"What is it, Honey?"
"What is a God?"
Lilith paused for a moment. Then she shrugged.
"I don't know."
Cassian's hand stopped.
"What do you mean you don't know?" he said, his voice hardening. "You said you would give me information about the gods, the door of the end, and those beyond the gods! You brought me here for this!"
