"Damn it!" I grunted, slamming my whiskey glass onto the desk. The liquid in the cup sloshed but didn't spill.
I pushed up from the chair, drove my fingers through my disheveled hair, and began pacing. I haven't left my office since yesterday, after Sophia left. There was no point going back to my room since I knew I wouldn't get a wink of sleep.
The thought of Aria's disappearance was eating me alive. My mind spun with endless possibilities, each one darker than the last. And scary even.
What if Alpha Igor wasn't involved?
What if that man in the prison was just a damned decoy?
What if someone else was behind this?
I turned back toward the desk and kicked it in frustration. Pain flared through my foot, and I let out a sharp yelp.
"Son of a bitch," I hissed, teeth clenched, ready to overturn everything on the table when the door creaked open.
I turned, expecting to see Elias. But instead, it was Kaiden—my damned cousin.
