Chapter 125 - So rude

Home. This was my home. Yet it felt nothing like the one I knew. Strange people. Strange building. Strange language. I even felt closer to home in the Green Moss pack than here.

Warmth radiated from the man who claimed to be my grandfather. It wrapped around me like a memory of my mother. He even smelled like her.

My chest tightened and tears burned at the corner of my eyes as I thought of her. My throat constricted and I gasped softly. He released me at once, his eyes scanning mine with concern.

"Are you alright?"

Was I? No. Not even close. Everything was overwhelming. I couldn't name the emotion churning inside me. It wasn't anger. It wasn't sadness. But it was something.

"I'm fine," I whispered, folding my arms tightly around myself. I shivered, despite the warm air.

Grandfather didn't look convinced, but he didn't press me either.
