LANCE
"What happened back there, grandfather?" I asked as soon as we left Aria's room. "I've never seen a hybrid behave in that way before, and I doubted it's part of her trying to bring forth her powers!"
I shivered, thinking of the murderous intent in her eyes. If I hadn't successfully stopped her back there, I would be on the floor, dead. And perhaps my funeral would be prepared by now.
"It's not." Grandfather Patrick answered. For the first time, he wasn't being sarcastic to me or even trying to evade the questions. He stopped walking. I did too, peeling my eyes away from the entrance to stare at him.
"It's her." He murmured.
"What do you mean?" I questioned. As far as I could tell, there was no way Aria was that way.
When I touched her, and I felt her powers, I knew it wasn't fully released, but it wasn't even dark. I felt the light. It had zapped through me. And I could still feel the warmth that she emitted. That certainly wasn't true.
