Chapter 137 - A Wild Dog? A Guardian Beast of the Nation!

"Mr. Wilson."

Inside the White House in Washington D.C., Rodriguez looked across at Kingpin and suddenly said, "I have a question I'd like to ask you."

"What is it?" Kingpin glanced at him, surprised by his suddenly serious tone.

Rodriguez said solemnly, "I want to know—does Mr. White have any… hobbies? For the sake of world safety, I think we must ensure Mr. Bai Ye's physical and mental well-being."

Kingpin gave his colleague a long, speechless look.

He couldn't say Rodriguez was wrong—after all, Bai Ye's moods changed faster than April weather. If he ever got irritated, they were the ones who'd suffer the headache.

Back when Kingpin was just a crime lord, chaos never bothered him—the more disorder, the more fun.

But now things were different. They had risen to power, become the ones managing the entire country. Even for their own survival, they had to take this seriously.

Sure, Bai Ye had said, "You can run things however you like," but come on—no one would actually take that literally. If the whole world fell into anarchy and someone annoyed Bai Ye enough to trigger his wrath, he'd cut his way up the chain of command—and they'd be the first to die.

So as those in charge, they had to tread carefully.

"It's just… I really have no idea what Mr. White likes," Kingpin said helplessly.

He wasn't exactly close to Bai Ye—more like a useful subordinate. He honestly didn't know his boss's preferences.

"Please think again. This is very important," Rodriguez urged.

After a moment of thought, Kingpin suddenly looked up. "I remember—Mr. White rather enjoys… ahem, well, he's still young and appreciates the company of attractive people. It helps him relax."

"Oh, that's easy." Rodriguez snapped his fingers.

Beauty was the easiest desire to satisfy—especially for someone of Bai Ye's power. He could have ten new companions a day if he wanted. And with his status, arranging that was child's play.

"I'll organize a global beauty selection right away," Rodriguez said excitedly—only for Kingpin to grab his arm in alarm.

"Don't make it too blatant. Pay attention to Mr. Bai Ye's attitude. Keep it discreet—don't make a spectacle of it." Kingpin's voice was tense; the last thing he wanted was for the scheme to embarrass Bai Ye and blow back on them.

"You're right," Rodriguez nodded thoughtfully. "We'll start small—maybe look within Mr. White's social circle first. Persuade him with reason and emotion."

"There's another issue," Kingpin said. "Mr. White just issued a new order—arrest everyone in S.H.I.E.L.D. immediately."

"S.H.I.E.L.D.? No problem," Rodriguez agreed at once.

——

After spending some time in Buckingham Palace, Bai Ye finally returned to New York under the watchful, fearful eyes of those around him.

The city was in chaos. Large sections were still shrouded in the devastation left by the earlier hydrogen bomb, with heavy casualties.

To his surprise, the members of the chat group were still there—they hadn't gone home. But when they looked at Bai Ye, their gazes were filled with a mix of awe and dread.

"What's with those looks?" Bai Ye waved a hand dismissively. "To me, you're not like the others. No need to be so tense."

Yet even so, none of them could truly relax. The memory of Bai Ye's arrogance—of him defying the entire world—was still fresh in their minds.

"Bai Ye, I think your attitude during the live broadcast earlier… might have been a bit too much," said Tony Stark.

But as soon as Bai Ye's calm eyes turned toward him, Tony's heart gave a violent jolt.

For the sake of his family, his tone immediately softened, becoming polite and respectful.

Bai Ye asked evenly, "Is there a problem with that?"

"Well… this is your planet now," Stark said carefully, choosing every word. "I just think you should take some responsibility—perhaps become a wise and benevolent ruler."

"Why? I came to be the emperor, not a public servant."

Bai Ye's expression turned cold. "The whole mess started because they insulted me first. So after I take control, I'm supposed to make their lives better? Wouldn't that make me the one begging on my knees?"

"I should care about their feelings? Then who's going to care about mine? Every one of them schemes behind my back—except Rodriguez, who at least tried to get on my good side. The rest just sit back and watch. Fine, if they like watching so much, let them do it on their knees."

Bai Ye's tone dripped with irritation.

Tony didn't dare breathe too loudly. The room went completely silent.

Seeing Tony's nervous face, Bai Ye suddenly smiled faintly. "You said you wanted them to live better, right? No problem. You think the world needs fixing—then you go fix it."

"Go see Kingpin. Whatever laws or policies you want, add them. I don't care. Manage it however you like—as long as you don't bother me."

With that, Bai Ye handed over what countless people would kill for—the power to rewrite the world's laws.

"Ah? Me?" Tony was dumbstruck. How had giving advice turned into being promoted to world administrator? He was a capitalist, not a statesman!

"What's wrong? You talk a big game about duty and responsibility—now that it's your turn, you're hesitating?" Bai Ye teased.

"...Fine. I'll do it." Tony gritted his teeth. It's just one planet. How hard could it be?

"Remember, that's your decision," Bai Ye said, lips curling slightly. "If the world falls into chaos, it's on you."

He was genuinely curious to see how Tony Stark—the notorious playboy—would handle running a planet. Would he really end up instituting a "first-night privilege"?

Everyone else was speechless. A few sentences had just determined the planet's supreme ruler. It was absurd.

"And the rest of you?" Bai Ye looked around. "Want to stay here and take an official post? If you're willing, I'll grant you authority too."

He sounded like a man promoting his household pets into divine guardians.

"Hahaha, senior, no no no, that's not necessary," Kanai Jimijima said awkwardly, waving her hands. The others all declined as well.

"Suit yourselves. If you change your minds, just tell me." Bai Ye said casually.
