Chapter 109 - Traps and Bait

Justice Tower, reception room.

Tony sat on the leather sofa with his legs crossed, his fingers tapping rhythmically on the armrest. A characteristic cynical smile hung on his face, but his eyes behind the sunglasses were fixed on the data stream constantly flashing across the lenses.

"Friday, faster," Tony said in a low voice, maintaining a relaxed smile at the corner of his mouth.

"Boss, the Justice League's firewall is extremely complex," the AI's voice sounded in his ear. "I'm trying to bypass Cyborg's quantum encryption system."

Tony took a sip of the coffee on the coffee table, frowning slightly—the coffee was absolutely terrible, worse than his worst brew at Arbitrator Tower.

He put down the cup, his gaze sweeping over the monitors on the reception room wall. Behind those seemingly ordinary cameras, it was very likely connected to Cyborg's consciousness.

"Have you found any clues about Batman?" Tony pretended to adjust his tie and asked in a low voice.

"Retrieving... wait..." Friday's voice suddenly became urgent. "Boss, I've found abnormal data—"

The reception room door suddenly slid open, interrupting the AI's report. Wonder Woman—Diana strode in, her Lasso of Truth gleaming golden at her waist, her expression even more severe than an Amazonian war god statue.

"Woah~" Tony exaggeratedly spread his arms. "Isn't this the most beautiful princess of Themyscira? What, has Superman finally decided to send you to entertain me?"

Diana ignored his taunt, her gaze like a sharp sword piercing Tony: "Stark, you're under arrest."

Tony's smile froze on his face, and he shrugged casually: "Is this some new kind of joke? The Justice League's hospitality is truly unique."

But beneath his clothes, the nanotech armor from the Eternal Core was slowly covering his body.

"This is no joke," Diana's voice was as cold as ice. "One of the Arbitrators' leaders—Chen Tian just attacked Superman, and now they've been designated as global criminals by Superman. And you—" She took a step forward, and the Lasso of Truth began to emit a faint golden light, "As Chen Tian's accomplice, you must accept interrogation."

The golden Lasso of Truth whipped towards Tony like lightning, a piercing whoosh exploding in the air. Tony's mouth curved upward, and with a lift of his right hand, the Mark-Eclipse Edition armor instantly covered his entire body. As nanobots flowed, the armor's red and gold plating reflected the golden light of the Lasso of Truth.

"Woah, Diana, that's not very ladylike at all," Tony's voice came through the armor's speakers, carrying his usual playfulness. "I thought the Amazonian princess would at least offer me a cup of tea first?"

Diana snorted coldly, flicking her wrist. The Lasso of Truth, like a nimble snake, wrapped around Tony's neck. Tony's figure flickered, his back armor unfolded, and six drones instantly popped out, their laser sights locking onto Diana's limbs.

"Friday, activate 'Cavalry' protocol," Tony ordered, while his right wrist armor transformed, and a high-energy laser sword hummed into existence.

Diana showed no fear, drawing her Godkiller Sword. The blade cut through the air, heading straight for Tony's chest. Tony dodged sideways, and the laser sword clashed with the Godkiller Sword, sparks flying. At the same time, the drones opened fire, a dense network of laser beams blocking Diana's retreat.

"Is that all you've got?" Diana sneered, her divine power erupting, shattering several laser beams, and slamming her shield into Tony's armor, forcing him back several steps.

Tony stabilized himself, his shoulder armor unfolding, and miniature missile launchers popping out. "Sorry, Princess, I don't plan on playing with you for too long." He snapped his fingers, and missiles whistled out, while the drones switched to high-speed mode, their laser beams forming a net.

Diana leaped into the air, wrapping the Lasso of Truth around a missile and violently flinging it towards the drones. In the explosion's fire, she charged forward like a war god, the Godkiller Sword aimed directly at Tony's face.

Tony quickly retreated, his armor's thrusters at full power, and the laser sword and Godkiller Sword clashed again. Their battle tore through the reception room wall and crashed into the Justice Tower's atrium. Beneath the glass dome, the clash of steel and divine power shook the entire hall.

"Friday, how much longer until the data is found?" Tony asked, panting.

"30 seconds, Boss, but I recommend a quick resolution—Cyborg is trying to hack into our system."

Tony clicked his tongue, looking at Diana: "Looks like I have to get serious."

"Angel Protocol initiated," Friday's voice sounded in Tony's ear.

In an instant, the Mark-Eclipse armor's nanocoating began to reconfigure. The red and gold plating rapidly faded, replaced by a futuristic blue, white, and black color scheme.

Six mechanical wings fully extended, and the particle accelerators at their tips began to resonate, emitting a piercing hum.

"Diana, let me show you the true power of technology!" Tony's voice came through the armor's speakers, with an unprecedented seriousness.

The energy nodes on the mechanical wings lit up one by one, and countless tiny laser beams extended from the wingtips, weaving into a dense net of light in the reception room's air.

Diana felt an unprecedented sense of crisis. She quickly held her shield horizontally in front of her chest, and the Lasso of Truth wrapped around her left arm, forming a second layer of defense.

"Glory of Olympus!" she shouted, her divine power forming a golden protective shield around her.

"All weapons fire!" Tony roared.

Hundreds of laser beams suddenly converged, forming a giant energy beam over five meters in diameter, blasting towards Diana with destructive force. Where the beam passed, the air was ionized into blue electric arcs, and the Justice Tower's glass dome shattered in the energy aftermath.

Diana gritted her teeth, pouring all her divine power into her shield. When the destructive energy torrent struck the shield, the explosive Impact instantly destroyed all the decorations in the atrium. Her feet plowed two deep furrows in the ground, and she was pushed back more than thirty meters.

"Data download complete, Boss," Friday's voice sounded at the opportune moment.

Tony looked at Diana, who was still struggling to hold on, a triumphant smile playing on his lips: "Next time, remember to offer tea first, Princess." With that, the mechanical wings on his armor's back spewed dazzling exhaust, propelling him through the dome.

Diana, left behind, knelt on one knee, fine cracks appearing on her shield. She looked up in the direction Tony had left, watching him depart with a cold expression.

Tony's armor sliced through the sky, disappearing into the clouds.

Just then, a golden Flash of lightning streaked by, and Flash stopped in front of Diana, his expression somewhat confused, scratching his head: "Uh... so, the Arbitrators have fallen out with us?"

Diana didn't answer, merely giving him a cold glance.

"Bang!" A heavy metallic thud sounded as Cyborg—Victor Stone descended from the sky, his right arm's mechanical structure rapidly scanning the surroundings.

His electronic eyes glowed red, and his voice was serious: "I just found that Tony Stark downloaded information about Batman from my database."

Flash's eyes widened: "What? Why would he look for Batman?"

Cyborg was silent for a second, then brought up a holographic projection showing Tony's system intrusion records: "He not only downloaded Bruce Wayne's files, but also retrieved the Batcave's coordinates, the Justice League's encrypted communication protocols, and..." He paused, "The last known location of Bruce Wayne and his rebel group."

Flash gasped: "Wait, that doesn't sound like he's helping us find Batman..."

Diana finally spoke, "He tricked us."

Cyborg nodded: "Not only that, Chen Tian just attacked Superman, and Tony Stark, as a core member of the Arbitrators, is now stealing League secrets..." He looked at Diana, "They might be planning something."

Flash frowned: "But Tony has always cooperated with us? Why suddenly..."

"Now is not the time to ask about this. Tony Stark and Chen Tian's actions, whether they represent the Arbitrators or are their individual actions, this must be clarified," Diana said, hands on her hips.

"No need!"

Superman's voice, like thunder, came from the broken dome. Everyone looked up to see the red and blue figure slowly descending, hovering in mid-air.

His eyes glowed with cold red light, his cape fluttered behind him, and an suffocating sense of oppression emanated from him.

"Announce to the World—" Superman's voice echoed majestically throughout the room, "The Arbitrators' act of aiding the rebel Bruce Wayne constitutes a betrayal of the Justice League." His gaze swept over everyone present, finally settling on Diana, "From this moment on, the Justice League will pursue and punish all Arbitrators members... dead or alive."

Diana frowned deeply, stepping forward: "Clark, this is too extreme! Rushing into war will only plunge the World into chaos!"

Superman sneered, the red light in his eyes intensifying: "One World, two organizations, it's too crowded."

Flash nervously rubbed his hands: "Uh... shouldn't we talk first? Maybe there's some misunderstanding..."

"No misunderstanding," Superman interrupted him, his tone icy. "Chen Tian attacked me, Tony stole League secrets; they've clearly sided with Bruce." He slowly clenched his fist, "Since that's the case, let them understand—who is the Guardian of this World."

Cyborg was silent for a moment, his electronic eyes flickering: "Clark, I suggest we block the news first to avoid global panic."

"No," Superman refused decisively. "Let the whole World know—the Arbitrators are no longer allies, but enemies." He looked at Diana, "Diana, you are responsible for the European theater, Cyborg, you take over the global surveillance system, Flash, you are responsible for blockading all Arbitrators strongholds."

Diana took a deep breath, a hint of struggle flashing in her eyes: "Clark, are you sure this is the right decision?"

Superman didn't answer, only giving her a cold glance before soaring into the sky, breaking through the dome and disappearing into the horizon.

Flash swallowed, muttering softly: "Uh... is he a little... extreme lately?"

Cyborg shook his head: "No, he just won't tolerate any threats anymore."

Diana was silent for a long time, finally clenching her Lasso of Truth, her voice low: "Execute the order."

— — — — — —

Meanwhile, high in the sky.

Tony's armor cut through the clouds, and Friday's voice came through the communicator: "Boss, the Justice League has just issued a global arrest warrant; all Arbitrators members have been listed as hostile targets."

Tony clicked his tongue: "Sure enough, Superman has started the reckoning."

"Need to contact Chen Tian?"

"Of course," Tony changed direction, thrusters at full power. "Tell him, the plan is moved up—the war has begun."

— — — —

New York, Hell's Kitchen.

In Daredevil Matt's office, the television screen flickered with dazzling light. Diana stood at the Justice League's press conference, her voice clear and firm:

"Effective immediately, the Arbitrators organization has been designated a global top-tier threat. All members—including Tony Stark, Chen Tian, and others—will be pursued with full force by the Justice League."

Matt's fingers lightly tapped the table, his enhanced hearing allowing him to clearly pick up every subtle sound wave vibration from the television.

He tilted his head slightly, turning towards the tall, dark figure standing by the window—Batman Bruce Wayne.

"Have you achieved your goal?" Matt asked softly, a hint of complex emotion in his voice.

Batman did not answer immediately.

His gaze remained fixed on the TV screen, Diana's image reflected in his dark goggles.

After a moment, he spoke in a low voice:

"I didn't want this."

Matt frowned: "But you've always wanted to pit the Arbitrators against the Justice League."

Batman slowly shook his head, his voice hoarse and heavy: "My original plan was for the Arbitrators to be a force to counterbalance Superman, not to directly go to war."

He turned, his cape flowing like a shadow in the dim light.

"But now… Superman made the first move."

Matt was silent for a while, then asked: "Why? Why did the Arbitrators suddenly turn against Superman?"

Batman's lips tightened slightly, as if he was thinking.

"Chen Tian attacked Superman… Tony stole Justice League secrets…" he murmured to himself, "This isn't right."

Matt keenly caught his confusion: "You think someone is manipulating the situation?"

Batman didn't answer directly, instead walking to the computer in the corner of the room, his fingers rapidly typing on the keyboard.

A series of encrypted data quickly flashed across the screen, finally settling on a blurry surveillance video—in the footage, Tony Stark was downloading Batman's files from the Justice League's database.

"Tony is looking for me." Batman's voice was low and calm.

Matt was slightly startled: "Why would he look for you?"

Batman's gaze was sharp as a knife: "Because he knows the Justice League isn't just."

Matt was silent for a moment, then sighed: "So, the Arbitrators are now your pawns?"

Batman slowly shook his head: "No, they've become Superman's enemies."

He turned off the screen and walked back to the window, "My plan hasn't even begun, but the war has already broken out."

Matt stood up and walked to his side: "So what are you going to do now?"

Batman was silent for a second, then said in a low voice: "Find Tony Stark."

Matt frowned: "Are you sure? Both the Justice League and the Arbitrators are looking for you now. If you show yourself rashly—"

"That's exactly why I must see him." Batman's voice was firm, "If the Arbitrators are truly going to war with Superman, then they need to know… what they are truly facing."

Matt took a deep breath: "You mean…?"

Batman didn't answer, but his silence said it all.

Suddenly, Batman and Daredevil turned at the same time, muscles tensed, assuming fighting stances.

From the shadows, a slender figure slowly walked out, her red hair strikingly like fire in the dim light.

"I knew it," Natasha's voice carried a hint of coldness, "There's something off about Tony and Chen Tian."

She raised her hands, indicating she had no ill intent, "I just came to see why our Arbitrators' probationary members haven't reported their activity in over 18 hours."

Her gaze swept over the Justice League's wanted poster still playing on the TV, "Now, I know."

Batman's eyes narrowed slightly: "Black Widow." His voice was wary, "What capacity are you here in? Arbitrators? Or…?"

"Or are you here to arrest us?" Daredevil added, his cane slightly raised, ready to be used as a weapon at any moment.

Natasha chuckled, looking at Batman, "Superman is looking for you now. If I were here to arrest you, I'd just report him."

Batman did not relax his guard: "What is your purpose?"

Natasha shrugged, "The Justice League has put the Arbitrators on their threat list, but they don't know what they're up against."

As she spoke, her eyes were filled with killing intent, "Bruce, do you know why both Chen Tian and Tony are looking for you?"

The corners of her mouth curved slightly, and she extended a finger, a drop of scarlet light coalescing at its tip, "I hope you don't lie to me."

Batman's muscles instantly tensed. He could feel the temperature of the drop of scarlet liquid light on Natasha's fingertip—cold, yet carrying a fatal threat.

His fingers had already touched the smoke bomb behind his waist, but Natasha's voice softly sounded in his ear, with a hint of playfulness:

"Don't move, Bruce." Her breath brushed his ear, "My venom only needs 0.00001 milligrams to take down an elephant."

Batman didn't turn around. He slowly released his hand, abandoning the idea of the smoke bomb.

"Smart choice." Natasha chuckled, the red light on her fingertip flickering slightly, "Now, we can talk properly."

Matt stood to the side, his cane slightly raised, but Natasha merely glanced at him, a dangerous curve on her lips: "Matt, I suggest you don't act rashly—your heartbeat has already betrayed your intentions."

Matt's fingers stiffened slightly, but quickly relaxed.

He took a deep breath and whispered: "Natasha, whose side are you on?"

"Heh, whose side? I just want to know what my 'little brother Chen Tian' is up to."

Batman turned, "What do you know?"

Natasha's lips curved slightly, "I only know that war is coming now, and Tony is coming too."

As soon as she finished speaking, Tony appeared in Daredevil's office.

A ripple like water spread across the surface of his armor, and the optical camouflage gradually faded, revealing his iconic red and gold plating.

He crossed his arms, scanning the people in the room, his gaze finally settling on Daredevil, a sarcastic curve on his lips.

"I really didn't expect it. Our probationary member is actually harboring a guy being hunted by Superman."

Tony raised a finger, pointing directly at Matt: "You're fired."

The air in the room instantly solidified.

Natasha chuckled, breaking the silence: "Tony, don't scare the kid."

Tony turned to her, his armor's faceplate clanking open, revealing his tired yet sharp eyes: "Natasha, you knew Bruce was here all along. Why didn't you tell me sooner?"

Batman Bruce stood in the shadows, his voice low: "Stark, you stole Justice League secrets just to find me?"

Tony didn't answer directly, but instead took a small holographic projector from his arm armor and threw it on the table.

The projection expanded, showing a scene of Superman hovering above ruins, his eyes glowing red.

"Look at this," Tony's voice was uncharacteristically angry, "Three hours ago, Superman destroyed the Bel Air Hotel in Beverly Hills, causing at least 127 civilian casualties—just because he suspected Chen Tian and Wade were there."

The projection switched to another scene: Superman's heat vision sweeping across a street, innocent pedestrians screaming and fleeing in flames.

"This isn't justice," Tony turned off the projection, his gaze burning as he stared at Batman, "This is tyranny."

Batman was silent for a moment, then slowly walked out of the shadows: "So you came to me for…?"

"Honestly, without full preparation, I really didn't want to fall out with the Justice League." Tony interrupted, "But Chen Tian told me to find you."

Natasha raised an eyebrow: "This was all Chen Tian's idea?"

Tony nodded, tapping his gauntlet a few times.

A blue light projected from the armor, forming a rotating holographic star map in the center of the room.

"That guy prepared a trap for the Justice League tyrants." Tony pointed to the flashing red mark in the projection, "You know, if we fight them on Earth, half the Planet will become ruins."

A brief silence fell over the room, everyone's gaze focused on the shattered Planet in the holographic projection.

Natasha narrowed her eyes, her red lips slightly parted: "This is…?"

"Titan." Tony's voice carried a hint of complex emotion, "Thanos's home, and where Chen Tian killed him."

The surface of the Planet in the projection was covered with massive cracks, as if torn apart by some terrifying force.

Broken architectural ruins floated in space, forming an eerie ring of stars.

— — — — — —

Washington District, Trident Tower Ruins.

Inside the underground blast-proof room, dim emergency lights cast a pale glow on the metal walls.

The air was filled with the smell of dust and engine oil. The ventilation system had been destroyed in an explosion years ago, leaving only a few broken pipes exposed.

Wade sat on an overturned metal crate, his long legs swinging restlessly.

He was toying with a gold-plated pistol, muttering incessantly:

"So now we're waiting for Superman to walk into a trap? Like waiting for a pizza delivery guy? Except this 'delivery' might barbecue us with heat vision?" He made an exaggerated throat-slitting gesture, "And we don't even have to tip!"

Chen Tian stood in the center of the room, his right hand tightly gripping the Space Stone, blue light seeping from between his fingers, outlining the cold, stern profile of his face in the darkness.

"Hey! Chen Tian!" Wade suddenly jumped off the crate and waved his hand in front of him, "Are you sure this plan will work? I mean, we're using the entire Washington District as bait! What if Superman goes crazy—"

"He'll come." Chen Tian finally spoke, "Superman won't miss any opportunity to find Batman."

Wade pouted, then turned and paced to the wall, tapping the metal with his gun barrel: "Can this broken place stop Superman's heat vision? I remember last time he got angry, he melted all the bank vaults in New York into liquid metal!"

Chen Tian didn't answer, instead standing up and reaching out. The Scarlet Queen Greatsword fell into his hand.

"If I wasn't afraid of the little Planet under my feet exploding, why would I bother with that red-caped boy who stuffs toilet paper in his pants?"

"Since I don't know how to separate this stitched World for now, let's bury the threat first."
