Chapter 125 - The Prelude to the Decisive Battle on the Mothership

Inside the building, the battle continued. Steve swung his shield to deflect oncoming bullets, then threw it, accurately hitting three Hydra soldiers attempting to surround them. Natasha, guns in both hands, calmly aimed at each target, each bullet claiming an enemy's life. Sam, using his wingsuit for cover, skillfully sniped the enemy from above.

"These people are really relentless," Natasha sneered as she changed magazines. "Where do Hydra recruit their people? Mass-produced idiots?"

"Stop complaining and focus!" Steve turned around and reminded him, while punching a soldier who was trying to sneak up. "We have to hold on and find the core control point of 'Project Insight'."

Sam, panting, watched as more and more enemies poured in: "You two might be used to this, but I'm new here! My weapons don't support unlimited ammo!"

Just then, a deafening explosion rang out outside the building, and flames shone through the windows, illuminating the entire battlefield. The enemy's offensive suddenly halted for a moment, and everyone turned to look in the direction of the explosion.

A crimson beam of light tore through the corridor like a red-hot sword, slicing straight through an entire line of Hydra soldiers, leaving behind charred floorboards and scattered limbs. Dominic's figure appeared in the billowing smoke, his steps steady, the hem of his clothes fluttering slightly in the scorching air.

Sam froze, almost forgetting to continue firing: "Who...who is this?"

When Steve saw Dominic appear, a barely perceptible look of relief crossed his face: "He's here." He raised his hand to stop Natasha from continuing her attack, clearly having complete confidence in this man's abilities.

"Finally decided to come, Dominic," Natasha teased, a hint of amusement in her voice. "I thought you'd wait until we'd dealt with half the enemy before cleaning up the mess."

Dominic chuckled coldly, his gaze sweeping over the Hydra soldiers in the arena: "It's not that I'm late, it's that you're too inefficient." With a casual wave of his hand, a soldier who tried to approach was sent flying by an invisible force, crashing into the wall.

"Who...who exactly are you?" Sam couldn't help but ask, even though he recognized the man in front of him. Watching the other man easily crush his enemy into dust, he felt a strange sense of powerlessness.

"I'm here to clean up the trash." Dominic said calmly, his eyes flashing slightly. Another laser-like red light swept across, completely wiping out the remaining enemies. He then looked at Steve: "Where is the core control of the space carrier?"

Dominic stood in the center of the battlefield, his feet paved with wreckage and charred remains. He glanced down at a speck of dust on his shoulder, brushed it off, and turned to Steve. Steve was breathing heavily, his hand gripping his shield tightly, his face etched with exhaustion yet unwavering resolve.

"Where is the core?" Dominic asked directly, his tone utterly direct.

"On the space carrier," Steve said crisply, slinging his shield back over his shoulder. "The core control point is built into the carrier's command module. Hydra planned this all along; they want to use the carrier's height and field of vision advantage to directly cover the entire globe."

"A space carrier," Dominic repeated, a cold smile playing on his lips. "Sounds perfect for destruction."

"The point isn't to destroy it!" Natasha interrupted while checking her weapons. "If we just blow it up, Hydra's Insight program might trigger a self-destruct sequence, causing even greater damage. We need to find the core and manually shut it down."

"Then let's go up." Dominic pointed to the sky. "How do you plan to get there? By elevator?"

"We have a plan." Steve looked at Sam and nodded. "Sam will lead us closer to the mothership. Natasha will infiltrate the command module, and I'll cover her to make sure she can hack the system."

"Sounds meticulous." Dominic crossed his arms, seemingly making no attempt to hide his sarcasm. "So what about me? What's my mission?"

"Charge ahead and draw their fire," Natasha interjected, a teasing smile playing on her lips. "After all, nobody's better at causing destruction than you."

Dominic scoffed and held up one finger: "Drawing fire is fine, causing destruction is fine, but don't expect me to save the world. I don't do that kind of touching thing."

Sam couldn't help but roll his eyes and muttered under his breath, "I didn't realize you were so modest."

"What did you say?" Dominic raised an eyebrow, his gaze sweeping over Sam.

"It's nothing." Sam quickly raised his hands in a gesture of surrender. "I just wanted to say that we'd better act quickly, the space carrier could take off at any moment."

Just then, Tony's voice came through the communication device, clearly having been monitoring the entire situation on the other end: "Hey, don't wait any longer, hurry up. I've already hacked into the mothership's peripheral systems and am trying to clear some obstacles for you. But please, you'd better hurry, or I'll have to consider blowing that thing down with a missile."

"Tony, missiles are not the solution!" Steve replied, frowning. "What we need is to control it."

"Fine, fine, you're the boss." Tony's tone was full of disdain. "Steve, I'll provide remote technical support. By the way, time isn't on your side."

"Roger that," Steve replied simply, then looked at Natasha and Sam. "We're ready to go."

Dominic slowly glanced at the three of them: "I hope your flight plans won't bore me."

Sam patted his flight wing device and gave a confident smile: "Don't worry, just stick with me, I'll make sure you land safely."

Sam took flight ahead, his wings unfurling like an eagle's, carrying Steve steadily upwards.

Steve turned around and yelled at Dominic, "Can you two keep up? This isn't your usual jogging training!"

"Enough with the nonsense." Dominic snorted, turned his head slightly, and whispered to Natasha, who was clinging to his shoulders, "Hold on tight, I don't want you to fall."

Natasha chuckled, wrapping her arms tighter around Dominic's back, her chest pressed against his, her tone teasing: "Don't worry, this is the first time I've been 'carried' by someone, I won't dare fall off."

"You really don't mind going through all that trouble." Dominic glanced down at her long, shapely legs. The lines outlined by the combat suit, combined with her intensely close scent, made him raise an eyebrow. "Speaking of which, aren't you afraid the wind will mess up your hair dressed like that?"

"What? You're distracted even while I'm flying?" Natasha's voice held a hint of amusement, her tone languid. "Be careful, hero. I don't want to be the first agent to die from being 'accidentally' thrown off by a superhero."

"I never make mistakes." Dominic rose slightly, the movement fluid and seamless, his tone brimming with undisguised confidence, "except for making you a little less reserved today."

"Reserved?" Natasha leaned close to his ear, her breath warm, and deliberately lowered her voice, saying, "Sorry, I don't remember ever being listed as a lady. Besides, I thought you would enjoy the classic 'hero saves the damsel in distress' scene more."

"Save a damsel in distress? I'm actually a little disappointed by what you're saying." Dominic's lips curled up slightly as he said, feigning seriousness, "To be honest, I'm more used to solving problems on my own. If you guys hadn't been holding me back, I would have already taken care of those Hydras."

Natasha chuckled, released one hand, and gently stroked Dominic's shoulder with her fingers: "So, I'm the one who's dragging you down? I'm so sorry. Then remember not to let me hug you so tightly next time."

"It's okay if you can't hold me tight." Dominic swooped down in an arc, suddenly accelerating, causing Natasha to reflexively hug him even tighter. "But you'll have to take responsibility for the consequences."

"You really have a twisted sense of humor." Natasha took a breath, but her smile deepened. "This is the first time I've ever seen someone turn flying with people into an extreme sport."

"Extreme sports are my specialty." Dominic squinted as he watched the approaching space carrier. "Unfortunately, it seems that's about all the courage you agents have."

"Courage?" Natasha raised an eyebrow, her tone almost teasingly sweet. "Hero, you don't know much about women."

Dominic was about to retort when Steve shouted in his ear, "Hurry up, the target is right above us! Stop dawdling, it's like a date!"

Dominic raised an eyebrow, slowly closing the distance and leading Natasha straight to the mothership's deck. Natasha leaned close to his ear one last time, her voice tinged with amusement, and said, "It seems that in our team, only you and I are truly suited to 'play lovers'."
