Chapter 131 - The "Guests" of the Void

A land of nothingness.

Peter Quill strode rhythmically down the ship's gangway, the blue light of his jet boots flashing across the ground. He removed his mask, whistled, pointed to the dilapidated buildings in the distance, and said with his signature narcissistic smile, "Welcome, gentlemen, to the Void! This isn't just some legendary ruin, it's a legendary—uh… a ruin."

"That's a brilliant observation," Gamora replied coldly, standing behind Quill with her arms crossed, her eyes filled with disdain. She shook her head slightly. "Don't you think this place is a bit too 'useless'?"

"Ruins also have their beauty." Quill patted his chest, commenting as if he were an art critic, "Just like me, a broken heart, but still full of captivating charm."

"Ugh." Rocket Raccoon jumped out of the hatch, carrying a custom weapon bigger than himself. He curled his lip. "Were you listening to that song from your duct tape again? Did it make your brain moldy?"

"Don't say that, Rocket." Quill raised his eyebrows and pointed to his ears. "Music can heal the soul—oh wait, you probably don't have a soul."

Groot slowly emerged from the back of the spaceship and said gently, "I am Groot."

"Yeah, Groot is right." Rocket rolled his eyes. "You bunch of fucking bastards, can't you focus on business first? We're here to make a trade, not to attend your narcissistic therapy class."

"Seriously, seriously." Quill turned to the others and clapped his hands. "Come on, let's all perk up! Gamora, are your twin blades ready? Rocket, is your 'little guy'—uh, not your size, but your weapon—ready? Groot, you…you can just stay our lovely tree."

"I am Groot."

"He said he doesn't mind," Rocket translated, his face full of impatience, "but I do mind. If you keep rambling on, I'm going to mind so much I'll point a gun at you."

Drax stepped off the spaceship, his expression as serious as ever. He gripped his twin swords tightly, his gaze sweeping over the dilapidated buildings: "This place really reminds me of revenge. Intense, pure."

"It smells like decay," Gamora frowned, looking up at the dilapidated tower in the distance. "And something seems off here. Have you noticed the charred walls and collapsed buildings?"

Quill looked around and finally realized that something was indeed amiss. He coughed, trying to appear calm: "Perhaps it's a characteristic of some architectural style? You know, 'post-apocalyptic ruins' or something."

Rocket rolled his eyes: "Do you think you're a comedian? I bet something big happened around here recently."

A gaunt alien was sneaking past the corner when Quill grabbed him by the collar and pulled him in front of the group. "Hey, friend! Don't be scared, we're not here to cause trouble. We just wanted to ask, lately, what's going on here… uh, what's wrong?"

The alien trembled, his voice shaking: "You don't know yet? Recently, a monster—no, not a monster, a human. His name is Dominic. He single-handedly fought against all the forces in the Void! No one can stop him."

"Dominic?" Quill blinked and turned to look at the others. "Sounds like a villain's name from a movie."

"Or perhaps it's the reflection of yourself in the mirror," Rocket sneered. "That sounds interesting, though. Who exactly is this Dominic? Have you ever met him?"

"I've never seen him." The alien shook his head, his fear growing more pronounced. "But I've heard that he can destroy a wall with a single glance. His power is unlike anything a human could possess… and he seems to be here looking for something."

"What are you looking for?" Gamora stepped forward, her voice deep and authoritative. "Explain yourself."

"I...I don't know! I really don't know! He destroyed everything in his path, and no one dared to approach him!"

Quill put the alien down, waved for him to leave, and then turned to his team, saying, "Well, I think we might be in a bit of trouble. But don't worry, my charm can handle everything."

"Is that so?" Gamora retorted with a cold laugh. "Hopefully your 'charm' is strong enough, otherwise I can't guarantee I'll save you."

Drax gripped his twin swords, a hint of anticipation in his eyes: "This Dominic sounds like a challenge. If he stands in our way, I'll take care of him myself."

Collection room.

The precious collectibles emitted a faint glow, reflecting on the collector's face. His eyes were sharp and deep, as if they could pierce through Dominic's skin and reach the deepest part of his soul.

"You're very interesting," the collector said softly, his tone a mixture of admiration and sarcasm. He took a step closer, holding an exquisite cane in his hand, which he lightly tapped on the ground, producing a crisp sound. "Your body is special, very special… It's like a work of art that is not yet fully sculpted, but I can feel it perfecting itself."

Dominic leaned against the wall, staring at him expressionlessly with a faint smile playing on his lips: "It sounds like you're very interested in human anatomy. Sorry, I'm not here for you to study."

The collector remained unhurried, a meaningful smile playing on his lips: "Oh, I never force anything, at least not outwardly. However, your existence has piqued my curiosity. I sense a unique aura; your power grows every moment. This is not a talent possessed by ordinary humans, nor does it seem to be a trait of any known race in the universe."

Dominic, hands in his pockets, his gaze darkening slightly, said, "Talent, traits—these things sound high-end. But for me, they're just side effects I have to deal with every morning when I wake up."

The collector's eyes narrowed, like a predator spotting its prey. His voice was deep, carrying an almost chilling affability: "Side effects? Interesting, very interesting. I wonder, when a person becomes infinitely powerful, can he still maintain his 'humanity'? Or have you transcended that small concept?"

Dominic chuckled softly, a hint of disdain in his voice: "Humanity? That's for mortals. I don't have time to ponder those hypocritical philosophical questions. I only care about what I want to do, not what I should do."

"A bold idea." The collector nodded, as if savoring a rare treasure. "But what if one day your power transcends your very existence? What would you do if you became a being that no longer needed any boundaries?"

"We haven't reached that point yet," Dominic said in a deep but firm voice. "But if we do, I will let the whole universe know what true freedom is."

Just then, the door to the collection room was suddenly pushed open roughly, and Peter Quill swaggered in with his narcissistic smile. He was wearing a mask, but when he lifted it, it revealed an overly confident face: "Uh-huh! Sorry to bother you all, I'm Peter Quill, you can also call me Star-Lord."

Rocket Raccoon followed closely behind, carrying his enormous weapon, his eyes scanning the room's collection: "Hey, this place is pretty high-class. Are you the owner?"

Groot walked in slowly and said softly, "I am Groot."

"Yeah, Groot, he's the boss, he looks like a guy in a costume," Rocket joked.

Gamora frowned, glanced at Dominic, then at the Collector: "Did we come at the wrong time?"

"Absolutely not." Dominic's gaze swept over Quill with a scrutinizing interest. "You're the Guardians of the Galaxy? That name sounds like a joke."

"A joke?" Quill raised an eyebrow and retorted without any politeness, "I'm the most handsome adventurer in the entire universe. Everyone here should feel honored to see me."

"Is that so?" Dominic's tone was tinged with a cold amusement. "Then hopefully your handsome face can stop those things that try to kill you."

Rocket grinned. "Hey, I like this guy's humor. Much funnier than Quill."

"I am Groot," Groot added earnestly.

Quill, clearly overshadowed, shrugged somewhat irritably. "Whatever. We're here to talk business, collector. Are you still planning to buy our goods?"

The collector glanced at Quill, then turned his gaze back to Dominic: "Perhaps I'm more interested in the 'goods' itself."
